There are many players who are "transit players" as well...

These are the ones who HAVE to get on day one of new MMORPG games, be the first in whatever there is in there, powerlevel, get bored because they bypassed the content, and quit in a huff...

Only to start the proccess over agian and again somewhere else.

Yes, some people will go to WoW or EQ2, then get bored or upset with the "lack of content and bugs" and go on to something like Matrix online or the upcoming Star Trek Online.

I remember before SWG came out, people were ready to jump ship off of "the boring, exploitable, and buggy" EQ, and everyone was saying how brilliant SWG was going to be...vastly greater than EQ!

We all know what happens. And now people are saying the same about WoW and EQ2. They did about Sims Online (ouch!), and Planetside. It always happens and it doesn't say that SWG is a horrible game.

Another fact: Expansions always stimulates new players and customers. EQ has proved that. The Sims series lived on that. It will happen with SWG and JTL...

And another thing: Summer 2005, Star Wars Episode 3; Revenge of the Sith. I don't see WoW with a movie that people can't wait forsummer...

the fact that its frickin star wars givesSWG like oh id say about 5 or 6 legs up on other mmogs, when talking about popularity and longevity. i thinkcombat revampwill have a MUCH larger impact on the playerbase than JTL will.

I just can't understand a guild quitting to go to another game. What the hell type of Star Wars fans were they to begin with?

Just what "content" did this guild contribute other than gank squads and leet speak, more than likely. I may be wrong but I can't see how they can all leave for another game if they have a love for Star Wars. It just makes NO sense.

My guild is always doing something and I can't imagine us going to another game....we're here to "Live the Saga" not kill some Orcs-we've done that enough

I support removing combat classes if keeping them in results in a "dumbed down" game
- I support Devs that know how to design a game

I was curious what people here think of JTL's chances of success come Nov. 15th. Unless you're asleep for the past year, you're well aware that 2 very highly anticipated games are releasing that day. I'm sure SOE is quite aware of it as they announced a free 10 day trial for ex-customers. Everyone knows once someone starts a game they're usually hooked for a while so Im guessing SOE is trying to stop that.

By the way, when is JTL suposed to launch ? I heard end of October a long time ago. The end of Oct. is only 14 days away so thats not possible now. A game usuallymakes it to the stores shelves roughly 14 days after it goes gold. So unless JTL goes gold in two weeks, it wont beat the launch of WoW or EQ2.

Maybe its me, but I've received quite a few e-mails from old friends lately announcing they're quitting. Also server has felt quite empty lately. I'm wondering if a mass exodus is occuring as players might be quitting to avoid a double charge for November (swg + WoW or EQ2). Anyone else notice this ? I had two friends quit today (brothers) after they told me how fun EQ2 beta was (nda is over so they can talk) and that their guild from SWG is all quitting to move over to EQ2. A whole freaking guild is quitting to play EQ2 !?! Anyone else hear of such a thing ?

Ultimately, SWG has weathered two major mmorpg releases in the past but definitely lost subscribers. FF11 took a few. CoH definitely got more. I ran into literally hundreds of ex swg players over. I'm finding myself worried though about Nov. 15th. I dont see how SWG will NOT lose half its player base to these two games. Several polls taken by other game sites show large interest in WoW from swg players bitter about SOE's treatment. While others show even loyal SOE fans eager to dump this game for EQ2. Either way, its a lose/lose scenario for SWG.

Comments anyone ?

Well you gotta look at some variables. For people such as myself, I won't go to CoH or WoW because I bought and play SWG because I want to play a Star Wars game and not just an MMORPG. So I won't be switching. Just some more food for thought.

WoW is far to cartoonish and is not starwars, so i have no interest

EQ2 appeals to me as much as EQ1 did, in other words its not starwars so no thnx

both of the above games although they may look kewl and be well liked by those in the beta, but personaly would rather play a character with big spikey bones comming out of his(Zabrak) than play a hardly dressed elf female.

WoW, EQ2, FFI all seem the like the same kind of game to me, all are fantasy, all have magic users all of them are based in a world that has a lot less history and depth than SWG, and they all seem very much alike.

SOE couldn't care less if people moved from SWG to EQ2, because EQ2 is also SOE's

Wow and EQ2... i c.. u think both games will be perfect at start?Swg needs a revamp etc.. true, but i prefer to fly an Xwing a bit buggy than a dwarf lvl 65 with a large axe camping big mobs/bosses spawn... Swg will be better than other mmorpgs, just need some fixing and revamps as we've been playing (or we still are) a Beta.

EQ2 in beta is a muchmore finished/polishedgame than SWG has ever been. SWG is so badly broken at the moment it's going to take vast sweeping changes to get this game back on track (ground game is all I can talk about here). A lot of those changes will annoy many people. Solo groups, uber templates all have no place in an MMO. I'm sure you all know these things so I wont bang on.

SWG has relaxed game play though and well it's based in SW so it will always have a special place for many gamers/fans but it needs a hell of a lot of work and understanding from a paying customer base that are really honestly paying for beta. Ideally they should wipe and try again but then what's the fun in that.

EQ2, like SWG will have it's problems but nowhere near as many or as damaging.

Actually thats not true. SOE would prefer it if you moved to EQ2. They own all rights to EQ2, therefore they get 100% of the profits from it. With SWG, you-know-who is getting his cut and Im sure it isnt a small check lol
