Yeah, the reactors have been quite a phenomenon in the midst of bad loot. I do have a 40K power reactor. I use it on my nova. Use your uber reactors on your POB ships; that way you can deck them out with anything. I just hope that I can fit it on the ARC170 once ROTW is released. I guess bad parts is the price we pay for new chasis.

I am still at the point where I get some better stuff than what I have, so this isnt an issue just yet. But will be soon enough. I almost always sell my looted items to the NPC at the starport. Makes for some quick cash, and several level 5-7 items can get me 200-300K in just a few hours.

Then, I just shop for the components I want.

I picked up a rather nice 1000-1500 damage blaster not last night, but wed night. We were pirate killing over dathomir when I got it. I cant remember what level it is, but I cant use it yet.

I can still craft better weapons. Give the level.

But the point is that the loot seems to be better to you by selling, not using. I want loot that is good for my ships, not the chassis vendor.

It is better to improve the crafted parts than to nerf the loot. Prove that logic wrong.

oh.....well then your all right! LOOT SYSTEM SUCKS! lol

but i dont' understand one thing.....

I"m now 3333 imp pilot right? So i get the Interceptor (50kmass) and Bomber(189kmass) however, i can't even but good lvl6, not to mention lvl7, parts in my Interceptor!!! what's the point of getting access to parts you cant even use on the supposed equal level ship? I have to put any good parts in my bomber, which no matter how good the engine, will continue to fly like a boat!

and today I also learned about the oh so great loot in Kessle! i got a lvl 5 booster that was on par with a lvl3 booster

REing is the key to success on light ships. I frequently fly a 40k mass Kihraxz as a master pilot. I have a level 6 RE'd gun which has a mass of 9k and a max damage of 2389 and 0.670 on effects. I have a level 6 shield generator with 1700 front and back shields. A level 4 re'd booster weight 3.5k and giving me 13 seconds of 25.9 thrust. I use a level 4 re'd engine weighing about 4k and going at 76.7 speed. I also just aquired a level 2 engine with 75 speed too.

The key to making a light ship work is to not bother too much with armour. Armour eats mass like crazy. my kihraxz has a total of 1.6k in mass of armour giving 150 protection to front and back.

I've successfully taken outlots of5 fighters in it.

The point is that the component stats are still far below what they should be. This includes loot and crafted. I do have some lucky parts on my A-wing, but the currenthigh level parts are just not feasible for my Nova and B-wing. I can't find or make any shield with a recharge rate beyond 14. And that is completely useless for my Nova. Once again, my loot is limited to armor, boosters, and the occasional capacitor.

For example, if Idisassemble a level 6 capacitor with 45 for recharge, from then on, all level 6 capacitors that I build will automatically have a recharge rate starting at 45. That concept would inter-twine shipwrighting and looting to a great harmony. Loot would be awsome, but shipwrights could use it to their advantage and build parts guaranteed better than loot. What to you think of that?

That at some pointone sw is going be the best cap maker, an other will be doing engines and so on. Newbie sw's will have a really tough time getting a business started.

At the moment any Noobie crafter will have trouble getting ahead as they have to compete with all the 12 pt crafters you get all their BE parts and other supplies from other 12 pt crafters and spend millions just to make millions. I mean some guy on flurry has like 200 harvesters galaxy wide pumping out resources. No noob can comete witht that. But alas all will change in the CU.

I hope the combat upgrade isn't biting off more than I can chew....Space is the area that really needs the upgrade. At least they plan to put POB elite parts into the game.

While I personally enjoyed getting better equipment than I could buy cheaper (if not "free" since I was doing the missions anyways), the logic of the loot system in space has always eluded me.

Combat ships (at least fighters) shouldn't have much cargo capacity to speak of... yet I can carry 20,000 ton engines and the like.

Besides which the thing came from a ship I just destroyed!

I always thought there should be a mass of wreckage ("unrefined" raw materials). Have a specialized class of freighter (piloted by players) who scoop up that junk. Maybe let a fighter negotiate salvage rights (or the garbage scows escorts "negotiate" that right for them)...

I understand your point, but there needs to be a source for good parts. Currently neither loot nor crafting can satisfy that need.
