SCENE 43

He can't even see something cause of the reentry into normal space.
Suddenly Darth Vader and 14 other imperial pilots that have camped the hyperspace spot open fire and Luke blows up in a fireball.
Yes much better movie.

You know, with all the crying about this particular thing happening "all the time" on the forums, I am still yet to see it or hear of it happening directly in game. For my part, I enjoyed the challenge of facing skilled opponents in combat. Camping hyperspace entry points is lame. If it were a problem (and I gather it probably is) the solution would be to put in place either 1) a zone timer; 2) a zone border; 3) a combination of the two; or 4) randomize the entry point.

Han Solo was the griefer...

Vaders mission was nearly completely and he had become Master Pilot as the damn griefer Soloin his Millenum Falcon came up from behind andone-shooted him.

Well, always look on the two sides of a coin and try to understand other people.

5 stars for good satire. Like Homer says "It's funny because it's true".

The post is great. Very funny. Kudos.

But the underlying argument inherent in it is just silly. It was a rare PvEer indeed that wanted Kessel turned "blue". All most of us wanted was to have the mission removed from a sector where grief play was actively encouraged. That's it. Cut and dried. Very simple.

Once I hit master I'll be making forays into Deep Space and would have been in Kessel for PvP as well. So spare me the insults about being a whiny carebear. Putting a PvE mission into PvP space was a horrible move by the devs and I'm extremely gratified that they have realized it before too much damage to their playerbase was done.

They would have lost more people BY FAR if it had stayed the way it was.

my account is cancelled now already, the removed half of the content they had in the game for masters, and the other half is going to get a nerf soon as well i would suspect.

So wait, one shot kills being changed so that pvp is more than a second long is considered a "nerf" now?

What?

Look, I didn't want Kessel to go PVE. I just came to agree with the non-pvp people in that having the master mission in a pvp area is a problem, pure and simple.

But fine. Whatever. If you can't be bothered to go to deep space to pvp and fight other masters, and instead want to prey on people trying to do an already difficult mission (and stop with saying that the corvette is easy. that's bs and you know it) then so be it.

It's just that the Thunderheart and the Developers are spineless when it comes to sticking to what they say.

I'm the type of person who thinks a man should stick to his word and should make no rash decisions. This is a company and not a single man, so to me this is a MASSIVE lack in character on the side of the development.

Also, the Development told us in BETA, that in order to get Master Pilot, you would have to complete the mission in the PvP sector of Kessel. This was advertising done by the development, and nobody had a fricking problem with it in BETA. All the sudden, a few whiners come in and cry loud enough to get the devs to once again go back on their word and take away a PvP zone without compensating us with something else.

Many people who do not know what they are talking about tell us to go to the other PvP zone of Deep Space. That's fine and dandy and I have no problem with going there, but the ISD is soloable and it's one half the PvP space we once had.

I hope that LucasArts gets a hold of SWG before the entire Star Wars genre is ruined for thousands of fans. The lack of a war in this game is not the only issue, but the icing on the cake for me and a bunch of my fellow players.

One more thing to give SOE credit for. Jedi are now no longer mysterious and admired. They have become like ordinary people, and even weaker than that in most cases... I refuse to let SOE ruin my love for George Lucas' creation of Star Wars.

*sigh*

First and foremost, pretty funny post by the OP. Well drawn scenario. Flawed premise perhaps (IMO), but a well told satire.

You know all this back and forth carebear vs PvP'er or whatever would all be so moot if SOE could just once in their

life implement a workable PvP environment that wasn't so totally fun-killing and mean-spirited towards it's playerbase.

Ok there's a million and one little things to consider for balance i'm sure. But really isn't it all coming down to this:

1. Reduce or elminate decay (especially with the solo-group fix coming in)

2. Reduce PvP damage (either by using your infamoushammer-smash-face style of global reduction percentage or fixitemstats)

3. Eliminate spawn/load camping

4. Put some meaninful PvP content in one or more zones so we have some THING to fight for that affects the GCW / economyin a meaningful way.

And that's pretty much it. I'd have been ok with the Master mission staying in a PvP environment if said environment was actually a fun, reasonably fairplace to play (both now and in the future as more and more people populate it). As it is PvP sounds like just a total waste of time. No realpilot or tactical skill, no need for 3/4 of the equipment, ships and skills gained from hours of PvE grinding...just mindless insta-kills by people in lower-tier ships with lower-tier equipment. Sorry there is MUCH MORE game sitting under JTL'shood alreadythan that. Right now 2-hit kills eliminate pretty much all of it.

I maintain that restricting large-scale PvP to so late in the JTL game is a big problem. People need to be exposed to it earlier in their pilot careers. There should, at least, be a Tier 2 PvP zone that 'younger' pilots can mess around in. Or those wanting to see how their suped up Z95's do against hordes of Scyks and TIE Fighters, etc. Whatever.A PvP zone without all the complexity of a zillion ship types, skill options and Extreme Blasto weapons to contend with. Just something to help prepare them for the master level game. Why does SOE keep wanting people to have the most fun only AFTER they grind, buff, camp, hoard, craft, loot, and spend and level their way to the highest peak of a career? Why punish the casual player out of the box repeatedly like this?

Okay, ranting over. The Kessel thing is hopefully temporary while they figure out how to do PvP properly. I'm still having some fun in the PvE game with alts and so on, so I can wait a while for the worst offenses to be fixed up.

And it was in the top 5 issues throughout Beta and the biggest complaint here after beta. Ther is sticking to your guns and admitting something wasn't a great idea. Also while they did this they told beta and non-beta folks PvP was always optional, nothing about a conditional PvP, but consentual.

Many people who do not know what they are talking about tell us to go to the other PvP zone of Deep Space. That's fine and dandy and I have no problem with going there, but the ISD is soloable and it's one half the PvP space we once had.

I agree that kessel should and will likely go back to PvP once they come up with a perminate solution such as moving the Master mission.

I hope that LucasArts gets a hold of SWG before the entire Star Wars genre is ruined for thousands of fans. The lack of a war in this game is not the only issue, but the icing on the cake for me and a bunch of my fellow players.

But sadly LucasArts approved of all of this, so this is a non-issue. This is an MMO, things cant go by cannon, get used to it, GCW does not mean 100% PvP, you gotta get used to that fact too.

PvP is not everyones end game, in fact more people rarely or never PvP then do PvP.

wow, i ca't beleive people can understand. The master pilots didn't have to go through it since they beat the rush. CAN"T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?

I think kessel being PVE only is just temporary. Until they code in either an instanced version or move the missions completely, its gonna stay PvE. What you PvP'ers fail to realize is IT IS A PVE MISSION.

Funny. Really

Let me try and capture the PvE side tho...

Scene: Obi-Wan's hut on Tatooine...

Luke: I can take you as far as Anchorhead. You can get shuttle to wherever you're going from there...

Ben: You must do what you feel is r... Wait! Screw that! Listen here you little runt! You remember that lightsaber I just showed you? Yeah, the bright blue flashy thing. With one swing I can lop off your head and play bocce ball with it! Comprende? You will do what I say, even though you might not like and, if you so much as complain, I will be sure to force-choke the living $#%@ out of you. Got it?

*Twenty scenes later*

Ben faces Darth Vader. Vader speaks

Vader: When I left you, I was but the learner. Now *I* am the Master...

Ben: Ya know Vader, you were right. This forcing to people to do things they don't wanna do is pretty cool. The Dark Side Rul3s! Let's go kill the Emperor.

Obi-Wan faces the screen, showing his red-rimmed, yellow eyes... Creepy music plays.

Simply put, the problem with Kessel was not that it was PvP. The problem is the PvE content was placed in a PvP where little 12-year old griefers could hang out all day and make the game miserable for casual gamers.

Now, please. Drop Kessel. Cry all you want, the devs ain't gonna change it back until they reach a solution that works for PvE and PvP...
