Well Like many others out there I Eagerly awaited the comming of JTL ,,,
FIrst Day out I get me new softwear and load it in .. WOOT I AM GONNA FLY !!
hay great ,, the begining is ok, lots of new content, things to do, people to talk to and my forst ship !!
Launch into space and all is well,, I wiz through the first levles with a moderate amount of time invested and learn my new piloting skills, all the time thinking " This is pretty kool, Kudos SOE and LA ..."
LVL 2 in the tree goes much the same ,, me still enjoying the new content nad the missions taken in gaining the necessary EXP to get more skills and better equipment.
On to LVL 3 on the tree
WHOOOOAAAA !!! What ?? LVL 3 is mission based ? Kool no more grinding exp off kills to gain a level !!
Sweet !!
BUT WAIT ... These missions are SO LONG and SO HARD that you have absolutly NO CHANCE OF soloing them .. or in my case the first one ... 4 hours on the first night trying to solo the mission .. tried it 4 times , each time advancing into the mission1 hours worth of play only to be killed by swarms of mobs that would be hard for me ot kill with my current equipment lvl one-on -one much less 10 on 1 as it becomes ....
So I recruite a wingmate and off we go the second night ... some1.5 hours in to the mission my wingman dies in a violent explosion after being mauled badly by LVL 4 A-Wings that were 2 times faster than either of us and shortly there after i get killed .. well so much for teaming this mission ...
DidI tell you that without completing the missions in tier 3 you cant buy another box even if you have the EXP ???
WHAT I AM GETTING AT IS THIS ....
If you are a solo player like so many of us are ... forget the JTL pack .. it will only frustraite you to no end when you find out that you can go no further than lvl 2 in the pilot progression. All it ends up being is a alternate way of travel. And as far as travel goes, with the way they have the hyper points set up you are gonna find it faster to travel by starport than to use a ship .. the space map is totaly worthless as a usable reference to get from one place to another... It is like taking a trip from Mos Espa to Bestine via a shuttle and getting set down 10k out in the sticks with that distance to travel to get to where you wanted o go in the first place ,, and on top; of that you have to launch into space .. then hyperspace to whatever planet you wanna get to , then travel the 6 to 12 k to a space station , then land on the planet JESUS CRIST GUYS !!!!
I WANT MY MONEY BACK , THIS SUCKS

Grouping is okay, but forced PVP is not, in my book.
What forced pvp? The kessel isnt forced. I live in the kessel(lol). Just senda tell to the player and they wont attack you. Also you can only attack other faction not your own. Not sure about deep space though.

Grouping is fine, but it shouldn't be required. Are you required to get a group of your friends together to go to school or work? Are you required to do so to shop at the grocery store?
Something I found funny here thinking about soloing groceries. Wouldn'tthat actually mean slaghtering your own cattle, producing your own wheat and baking your own bread. Having chickens for eggs and milking your own cows? As it is quite a few people have worked together to get the things into the store for you to buy so you aren't really soloing that 'content'. Thinking in game terms I join a very large group when I enter work in the morning and I suppose the same could be said for school.

Just send a tell, huh? I bet I am dead before I can even finish typing the tell ![]()
Also, privateers can attack their own faction in Kessel, even group members, which is very annoying, to say the least.

Actually, I've got an X-wing, yes, but I have yet to exceed 50k mass on it. I only use one weapon (and no missle launcher or chaff) because my reactor is crap. Really all I do have going for me is a player-crafted blaster and shield (both of which seem to be way better than the equivalent-level looted stuff). Despite that, I just completed my 4th tier 3 mission, and will be heading to tier4 sometime today.
Did all of them solo.
So don't cry to me about how much better the X-wing is than the TIE int. I flew the TIE/Int in beta, and didn't have a problem. You get superior speed and turning, the things that actually matter in dogfighting. Missle launchers are just frivelous extras against other fighters, and triple lasers would do nothing but drain the capacitor quickly.
So before you the cries of "OMGz0rs, nerf the X-wing!" go out, maybe you should try out the other side.
On a less ranty note: I've found that component selection matters far more than ship type in terms how well you do.

I fly an interceptor, and in order to have a decent fighter, I'm using Level 4 components or lower (I'm 3/3/2/2). I have the one weapon loaded, pretty good shields, and fairly good capacitor and armor. My reactor is level two, 12k with low mass. I cannot fit missles, boosters, droid interfaces and flight computers in it.
Do you really mean Level 4 or do you mean Levels 6-7?
If you do then you might want to re-consider your equipment, i am using components up to level 5 in my TIE/In, with 10k less mass than your inteceptor. I have:
- Gun is Level 5
- Shields are 4/5 (whichever it is SW made shields are)
- Armour is Level 3 to save the mass
- Level 2/3 Reactor with 12.8k output
- ProtonII launcher and micro-chaff launcher
- Alevel 1 droid interface (since speed is bugger and level 1 interfaces are the best)
- ALooted Level 4 engine REed with a speed of 85
- A Looted capacitor (Level 2 i think) witha recharge of 40
- A Looted Booster (Level 4)
Now I am only 2/2/2/1 currently but a guildmate running worse equipment than me got to 3/2/2/2 solo last night without an issue.
I am looking forward to my inteceptor, i know that it is both faster and more manouverable than my TIE/In and wheni get 3/3/2/2 I'll be able to upgrade my gun, shields and possibly my ordinance and countermeasures with that extra 10k of mass.

LOL, yet another person thinking this is a single player game and not an MMO...
I soloed Asheron's Call
I soloed Everquest
I soloed Dark Ages of Camelot
I soloed WWIIonline
Hell I even solo this game
Its Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game
Nothing in that phrase says that you have to group to level.
You group to have adventures and make friends.
Good points, good points. I think I've been playing too much Final Fantasy (or got high somehow). The multiplayer is really emphasisesed in there, and screw my spelling
I still think that if you could solo everything it would have no point to be a multiplayer as theres no real need for having more than one person. But I suppose not everyone can have the luxury of help.
Another rebel saying they've solo'd up the tree. Let me guess: you did it in a 100k mass X-wing with 3 projectile weapon slots and 2 missle slots. You may have only used to weapons slots, but you had more than enough mass to fit in some pretty damn good shields and armor, droid related stuff and boosters, I'll bet.
Look, I'm not saying remove things from rebels, but really, I'm tired of rebels coming in here with this "I can solo it, you need to be a better pilot" BS. I DARE any rebel to take the Imp pilot tree, and do our missions with a 50k mass Interceptor, with one weapon and one missle slot. THEN let's see you come back to the boards with this crap. Unless you've done it, you can't really say anything about it, and are thus all up in the kool aid without knowing the flavor.
Jesus Christ. When did I say I soloed up the tree? Show me where I said it. I said I had a friend help me.Meaning I was UNABLE to solo it and INEEDED some help.I was in a GROUP with that friend.I'm glad I'm not foolish enough to struggle over and over tryingto solo a mission so my pride canfeel better. I also had guildmates come out and assist, but they were generally much lower than me and just came to grab some XP. If they got shot, it was all over for them.
I will not turn this into some "Reb vs Imp" juvanile garbage. Take that line of thinking back to high school where it belongs. We are ALL players. Rebs, Neut, and Imp alike. I'm sick of this babbling about your poor, poor 50k mass interceptor. That thing turns on a dime. And I DID do your missions, back in beta. Because I didn't want to ruin the fun of being a rebel pilot.
My point stands: In the time it takes you to think, come here, and go on and on about not being able to solo the game you could have saved 90% of that time my asking a guildmate of a friend or even a stranger to help you with your mission.
