The Saiteks actually are a little excessive when it comes to JtL. I'd personally suggest the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. It's pretty cheap and covers the basic functions you need (throttle, twist handle, hat, 12 buttons, etc...)

They are not. The only problem is that not all buttons are mapped but that's not really a problem is it?

Thats what I used in Beta. No problems what so ever. It takes a little while to get used to it, but I really liked using a gamepad. Personally, I didn't think a joystick would offer much of an advantage over a gamepad, but that may just be my play style.
ROFL!

I have a custom stick now but I used to use a Saitek SP550 Stick and pad combo.

All I did was plugged my joystick into my usb port, and when I went into space it worked, when I hit the ground, the mouse took over. *shrugs* I dunno it's int he coding of the game, no way to enable it or disable it, it just detects it

Option to enable stick is in the Game Options in the launcher screen, before you get to the game. If that doesn't work:
What OS are you using? What joystick?
Is it USB or gameport?
If you go into control panel and look in Game Controllers, does it show up there? Does it work in other games?
Probably should move this to the tech support forums.

Just wondering if anyone could tell me where I go in the game options to activate a joystick instead of using mouse. joystick is installed and I am able to calibrate it from the game controllers menu in the control panel, I just can't get it to work in game.

you can not in game. there is a button on the lauchpad before you hit play called game options, after that choose the game tab and there will be an enable joystick check box and a drop down menu to choose your Joystick.

you can change options in-game by hitting ctrl+o, go to controls and switch from virtual joystick to one of the other options(forgot what they are)

Not sure where to post this, so I thought I might post it here.
I'm wanting to buy the TIE Fighter game, I've heard it only works with a Joystick, though. I've been wanting to get one anyway for a while now, but have never used one before. I would appreciate some opinions on a good joystick from someone who uses them, before I buy one.
Thanks,
