Ok, here's how I did it and it ended up working.

Started at the very first option on the Program radial menu, and went straight down the line. FINALLY worked and his name appeared.

Thanks for all your help!

Hyphens are accepted by the filter so are apostraphes. but there seems to be a limit on the number of apostraphes allowed in a name. I've found no limit on the hyphens. For example:

Visit-our-shop-at-the-Sidoras-Bey-Artisan-House

is an acceptable name.

dont know if these are technically "Ranger" questions, but what the helll . . .

#1. mobs with the designation (scout) appended to their name.

i think i have an idea what these guys are about but im not really sure. what exactly does the (scout) mean?

#2 "You feel as if you are being stalked by . . . "

what does this mean exaclty? is it a scout/ranger only warning having to do with the mask scent/camo skill?

  1. If they discover you they run to friends and tell them about it. A non-BAF becomes BAF if you shoot at the "(scout)".

  2. Nothing to do with MS, however Conceal seems to prevent this from occuring, probably due to "not seeing" you. It is a natural effect from creature behavior, but Rangers are warned via system message when the server activates this mode on the creature. It will try to close on you and pounce when most appropriat

#2 I personally like this message, and have found a good way to use it. Once the message pops up, I move slowly watching radar to see who I have attracted, move a little slower, wait for message again, and move once more. Once I have gotten the creature away from the pack, I disengage camo/mask scent, move a little more and wait for the agro. By this time the critter is usually far enough away from the pack to attack alone. It does not always work, but I have been able to use it many times effectively.

#2 will only happen if a creature has detected you. so if you are masked OR concealed you will not be detect and creatures won't "stalk" you.
the reason that i like it is since i don't get scouting xp everytime i sucessfuly mask or conceal from something it is a quick reminder that i need to reapply

It just means that creature x is following you. Any of the creatures that have "Stalker: Yes" in there description will do this. If you don't do anything, and just stand there they will eventually get close enough to agro and kill (or try) you.

Generally if you just move away from them you will be fine. When it says that they are usually far enough away to have just gotten a quick smell of you and are trying to figure out if you are lunch.

ok, so the stalker effect happens at a longer range than good ol' fashioned "im gonna attack you now" aggro? like a mob that will aggro at 64m will stalk at 80m?

i gotcha, thanks.

It's mostly flavor, but as other's have pointed out, it's essentially a pre-cursor to aggro. If you don't want to tangle with the creature it question, mask scent or conceal quickly, and move out, or it will come closer and aggro. If you don't mind fighting it, then you can either attack it yourself, or draw it slowly away from the pack, as someone else suggested, before killing it.

As for (scout).. I never knew that either. Generally when I see them, I tend to /concealshot or one-shot-killthem anyhow, so it doesn't really matter if they BAF.

you also won't be stalked with your MS or conceal working properly. Once you are beiing followed however, applying masscent won't stop them from smellling you out and tracking you down.

the event happens to everyone, but a Ranger is just the only character skilled enough to realise it, hence the message you get.

If a person is city banned are they attackable within the city? I seem to remember there were some problems with city warn and ban and some changes were made, but I don't recall what the final result was.

Also (not entirely related to cities) if I want to ban an entire PA from a structure, how do I do that?
