u forgot u can set it on autopilot and then go join ur friends for a char in the bar room or get jiggy with a twilek in a bedroom....soooo many things u can do

Thats one of the main remedies of this yacht. I sure as hell dont want to be grinding out pilot just so that i can go on a ship with my friends.

They gave the vets a party barge as something different.
They didn't make it combat capable because they didn't want to undermine the Shipwright profession or the Master Pilot skills which are needed to build and/or fly a Decimator, YT-1300, or Nova Courier.
And actually,you could say the yacht is faster than the starter ships, from a certain point of view. (Good old Ben) (This is because it goes into hyperspace and the starter ships don't.)

I personally think that the vet ship is very nice. I havn't been one myself but i have seen video and pictures, and from what I can tell, it seems very nice. It doesn't handle well because it isn't meant to, it isn't a combat ship, its a party barge. Several people have asked me about combat on the yacht and why it does exist and i simply say this:
"Imagine going on a cruise, to the Caribbean for example. Now imagine you dancing on the front deck when the launch and atomic warhead off the front. That would just be strange"
That's my point, it isn't mean to be combat, its a party ship. Its go out and see nebulas with ur guild ship. If it were to be combat, the whole thing would have to be redesigned. First, with that size, there is no aerodynamics (does it exist in space?) Second, the big windows, unless im very mistaken, don't offer much protection in the way of missles. But that's just what i think. I say that the reward is very nice. Imagine if it wasn't a reward, it came from a rare schematic. So few people would have it and what would it be worth, millions, billions? So i think that this is a very nice gift for those of us who have been playing for a long time.
So, i don't think that your idea is stupid, i just don't agree with it. No hard feelings.

This ship is so great, think of the sweet parties you could have. It isn't that slow cause it has boost, not to mention it has hyperspeed. This ship is the best part of JTL.

That wasn't the case in Beta. If you set the autopilot and got out of the Pilot seat, the ship would stop. A lot of folks wanted that changed, so I hope they did put that in for Live. Oddly enough, you could set a jump to Hyperspace, get out of the Pilot seat, and move around - the ship would stop, but would go ahead and make the jump when the calculation timer was done.

I love the ship. It is exaclty what others have said, a house in space. And the fact hat it cannot be attacked makes up for its lack of speed. You can have a party while watching space battles. And also, thanks to the ship I never have to buy a travel ticket to travel from planet to planet ever again. The fact it has a hyperdrive makes it more than worth it for me. I know Lando's ship in the books is fast and powerful, but he upgraded the heck out of it, so thats why. But yeah, I'm happy with the ship. Its my house in the sky and my "car". No longer do i have to spend money to go to Dant.
