I get mad when I think about Jedi...

They hand it out to profession grinders... none of the Jedi I see on any server act like serene protectors of justice and truth... they are whiney, arrogant teenagers shoving each other around in PvP (h3y d00der, im reporting you for attacking my TEFfed buddies)

At least the Sith are in character... except they need to be killing each other a lot more.

I have been playing three or four hours per day since beta3. I refuse to grind... I have had characters on several servers and have really tried to stick with doing the things I like. I sell weapons, hang out with friends, and explore the SWG universe. I don't PVP or participate much in the GCW. Regardless of the time I have logged in to the game I highly doubt that I will ever unlock, but I wonder if it would be worth it... I want to actualy play a Jedi, not just create a second chatacter for PvP who happens to carry a lightsaber...

Although I cannot comment on your server, I have met "Jedi" like players in the game who have Jedi. The trouble is that these ARE playing the Jedi the way they should be, and you will rarely, if ever, see them.

Next, what is the movies version of Jedi will be different from this game due to many factors inherent with an MMO. Mainly is the old school mentality that the only way to advance is through a grind, and the more powerful a class, the longer/harder that grind has to be. So the only way Obi-Wan could advance in this game would be to mindlessly slaughter thousands of Rancors. So you won't often find Jedi doing Jedi-like things. I will admit that the one Jedi I hunted down as a BH was extremely Jedi in his approach and dealings with me.

Finally, you will be able to unlock now, and you will only have to 'grind' for one 3 hour period every 3 weeks in order to become Force Sensitive. Afterwards, you can continue on your preferred path and turn in your extra experience from time to time to advance yourself towards Padawan (such as all that extra/useless xp you have from making weapons after obtaining MWS).

And, perhaps by the time you reach that level, SOE will have developed a more "Jedi like" path for the light side.

Well, my experience contrasts with yours. I play Eclipse and recently I met a few Jedi that are just what I though they should be like.

But then, I suppose the Jedi population is like all player populations, no? Some good, some bad. Some nice, some asshats.

No sympathy for you really, this isn't a flame either just fact. I consider myself a roleplayer, and as much as I hated the idea of grinding professions, it was the path that was laid out before me, there was a choice, do it or don't, how bad do you want it? so I did it. Several months and 31 professions later I finally get to rp the class I want (if you don't count the times i played me friend's jedi)

So you played since beta..so you refused to grind..ok was your choice. you knew the system and you didn't follow it. Ok so what do you want? You have a quest system now set before you, but betting you don't want to do that either? You can't honestly believe that you should just be given it cause you've sold weapons since whenever?

As for people not acting jedi-like, like a couple others said, the ones who stay true to it you'll never see really, or rarely see as they aren't talking leet and asking everybody to duel.

Oh yeah, and we weren't "handed" anything, we took the steps, did the work and are getting rewarded.

You knew the system for unlocking and it was your choice not to do it. If you were having more fun playing with your main, I am sure you wouldn't have more fun levelling a jedi anyway. The profession system was a way to show one's commitment to getting a jedi, which you said you did not have.

Your argument sounds quite childish to me. What kind of logic is 'I decided it wasn't worth it to me to follow the path to jedi, but I should get one anyway just for playing.'?

Sorry, I have no sympathy for you. You knew what it took and you chose not to do it. Now when you see those padawan robes, you can't help but think about what others have that you do not. Were you not resolved at some point that you would not ever have a jedi? Did you not actually choose that path yourself?

I am sorry not everyone plays to your standards.

have you considered that the Jedi you dont meet are better behaved? its my experience a large percentage of PVP people are arrogant. (not all, just allot)

Its also very arrogant of you to suppose that all jedi are this way.

Anyway, never Assume! cause you when you do, you make a A$$ of U & ME

Understand JEDI EXP (exp based on normalized kills)

Master Elite Prof 3,891,000 exp / 4200 exp = 926 Rancors for Master Elite anything
Master LightSaber 15,280,000 exp / 1000 exp = 15280 Rancors for Master LS

LMAO darth, just read your sig..and it JUST hit me that yoda knew the path to jedi even before swg came out, LOL we had the clue all along. Man I wish I listened to yoda instead of those couple months I spent trying to find the "hermit" on tatooine.

Actually, several good points were raised.

Sorry if it sounded like I was saying that I should get FS just for logging on for a year... that was not my point and does look foolish, in reterospect.

I guess I thought that it should be more based on things like the hermet quest and such... I originally thought that every interaction with an NPC and every kind quest would go on a big scoresheet somewhere that would say "nice guy = jedi". Believe it or not, I ran up my Townspeople (townsfolk) faction as fast as I could with my original Kauri character thinking that it would help. Finding that skill with Macros was more important that behavior was the real complaint I had, but that is not a very easy thing for SOE to quantify and would be horribly subjective at best.

I like the idea of a quest-based system, but only if it makes it harder to become a Jedi. If I can go midichlorian-positive within a couple weeks if the next big patch then we are still making it too easy... Jedi should be rare and special... not just a race of people with a lot of summer vacation time...

Oh and you are completely right, I complain about the Jedi I see, but the real quality Jedi and Sith RPers are the ones who walk right by without my every knowing...
