you know, people keep saying the survey droid would be just like the BH droid, except the BH droids have been borked since launch too.

Droid engineer community, I am frustrated and annoyed with the lack of consensus regarding our profession in this game. It seems to me that a lot of the new mods that people are happy with, and a lot of the things that people are asking for are...well, sort of useless.

1. Barker modules. How can people be excited about this? One module that spams. Hmm. Hooray. Do we really need something like this, and who is actually going to use their one-droid out at a time limit to park an expensive annoyance? I don't understand the excitement about it, when we could be pressing for things that would actually matter.

2. Explosion, or self-destruct module. Again, what is the point? It isn't like we have a joystick and can send a little MSE droid in blow something up. Judging from how un-powerful and un-spectacular grenades were when I was a commando, I am not at all excited. Why don't we ask for something useful?

3. Entertainer modules? That would be cool if they allow entertainers to jam and dance outside of a cantina, like the medical modules allow doctors to heal. If not, what is the point, as you can't whip em out in a cantina.

4. Survey MODULE. WHY??? I have posted time and time again my ideas for a survey probe droid. You could also make a survey seeker, for use on the same planet you are already on. Why waste battery time pulling a droid in and out of your datapad to scan for things, when you can just use a survey tool, or drop a harvester and sample things. The whole point of a droid invasion in my opinion, is to get some droids that do things FOR us. Why not just have droids that will handle it. It is supposed to be a game, if we can create the droids to do that, it will cut down on the tedium of the game, and let us have more fun. Have the results from the droids be accurate based on the quality of the droid, which would depend on the components, etc. We have to look at this droid invasion as an opportunity for the whole SWG community, not just DE. If we could make these sorts of droids, it would help a lot of people, and actually give us droids that other people would buy.

5. Repair/Power droids. Droids that have a datapad storage unit that would accept 10 waypoints for harvesters, factories, etc. Put the waypoints in, and send them out to maintain or power up the facilities. Modify the BLL, have it do hopper runs to empty harvs for you. These droids would be vulnerable to attacks while they are doing rounds, just like a player character, making it more real. Maybe Jawas want to take the droid, or some big nasty creature decides to use it for a toothpick. Would be a great market for these, and again, would provide more time for gameplay, instead of gamechores.

6.Combat droids. I could care less about combat droids. As far as I am concerned now, the more I think about it, the more I don't care if CH are the only ones with offensive minions at this point. I know that some people lose their minds when people use the SW movies as their source for why things should be a certain way, but that is the only Lucas approved source. There aren't any hordes of combat droids in our SWG time frame. Sorry, that's just the way it is. There are TONS of utility droids running around handling all sorts of tasks, but no combat droids. Lots of storm troopers, maybe probot PROBE droids, but no big metal killing machines. I know a lot of people want them, but what is the point? It isn't a big deal, we have done without them thus far. Droid Engineer is never going to be a droid-powered uber combat profession.

There are lots of great ideas out there for improved personality chips, good modules (that should be modules, not actual droids). Let's swing for the fences, and see if we can get some real Star Wars content added. Take it easy folks.

Thanks for the tip. I am not trying to bust anyone's chops on here, I wanted to see what people thought of my ideas and responses to what is out there already. All I did was post my thoughts. Thanks to everyone who replied with theirs. There is a lot I don't know about why things are the way they are, but it seems that combat droids are an emotional issue for some peeps, and once they are mentioned, civil debate goes out the door. Hehehehe. If anyone else has some constructive input on why my ideas won't work, or whatever, please post it. Take it easy.

If you expect to be remotely decent at PvP you have to at least add some defences from the TK and/or Fencer proffs.

I spent the last 19 hours (no sleep with only bathroom breaks) mastering Swordsman; I must say I am very disappointed.

I was dueling a mid-level TKA, and I got my ass handed to me.

I was wondering if there's something I'm not doing correctly.. do you guys have strategies that you are willing to share with me?

My temp is Master Doctor (for buffs and money income) and Swordsman (mainly for PvE to get loot and sell it, but also for faction PvPing).

Thanks guys!

Well I find that any of the head hits usually work for most depending on how high their mind is. Also intimidate or anything that brings them to their knee. But hard to say, I am still semi-new to the swordsman profession.

If ur fighting anyone with any kinda melee defense at all, headhit doesnt do a fat lot, ur talking 180 dmg with a scythe on a fencer, and thats without him wearing armour, and seeing how u will miss a fencer all of the time, and seeing how no KD defense means a TKA will rip u to shreads, u cant expect to win in PvP often with just swordsman.

However, im not disappointed, as in PvE, its something fun indeed and a swordsman would stand by laughing at a fencer in PvE or even a tka for that matter, as their spinny spinny kick-kick wont do em much good against mobs, only individual enemies.

Now try Area attack 3,..man it rocks

lol, if the tk has any defenses whatsoever, headhit wont work, and if he knows anything about PvP at all, he would have already KD'd ur ass, set intimidate on u and used his headhit on u. Headhit does very very little damage against good melee defense.

but as i said, it aint too shabby in PvE

look, this guy i new in Swords and i suppose he do not have +20 speed tapes...

don't do PVP until you get them... i mean, not against good PVPrs, and never, ever, use a scythe (well unless he is unarmored...)

When you get the attachments, get a good hammer, and i mean good if it is aroud 600 max and 350 min damage, look for a power up on mind+min damage and apply it to the hammer... (accuracy tapes also help)

I have a +18 speed, 780 max 412 min hammer, and +14 accuracy and yet i have to see a TK to win me in the last 2 weeks... is just a matter of mind

Also remember the trick, he KD+dizzies you, ok, spam /stand /headhit3 like hell, as fast as possible... youll be hitting him more or less as if standing...

After all, they only do kinetic dmg! and if you are buffed and with vasarian, canape and some muon just in case, its impossible for him to kill you... impossible... you just regenerate mind faster than he depetes it...and when KD finishes... you have your hammer no?

cheers

not true im master swordman , master bralwer master fencer with tka 4002 , pikeman 0030

Now it easy to hit and kill TKM in PVP with swordman ,

1/ max yourspeed cap

2/ use intimadate 1 /2 if you have lowers there defence

3/ if you have master bralwer use lunge2

4/ headhit 3 with Power hammer

/5 alway have COB on macro ie: counter attack

/6 tkm dead very easy have done this a number of times this also can work on fencer's but they will be harder to hit with there defences but if you land intemidate on them the def get halfed i think so it makes it easier to hit them , at speed cap you can hit with Power hammer ever sec this is better damage thenn the scythe any day of the week

I have been fought many master tk's and have yet to lose to one. Fencers on the other hand can be a pain if you don't use the right strategy.

Well I love bieng a fencer in PVP but I am disappointed because it cant pve for **edit** it takes like 10 minutes to solo a night sister stalker. And swordsmen can pretty much kill it in halfa second. So don't come bitching that swordsmen cant pvp its not made to pvp thats fencers job.
