My 2 Cents:

Its a game. If you master pilot in 3 days, good for you. If you take 3 months good for you. If you have fun doing it either way GOOD JOB DEVS!

I was very bored with the ground game. I was only keeping my account till JTL came out. I am SO Happy with it. I am now 3333 and soloed that far untill the last mission of tier 3 where 2 nice peoples (ihaf and Starbuk) Helped me out.

I am amazed at how many people just don't accept SWG and JTL the way the game is. I just accept the way it is and have fun accordingly.

Woot.

Remember, half the people you meet are below average.

Why the HELL am I seeing Master and Ace Pilots after only three weeks since launch!!??
Don't give me this crap about having more time to play! Bull! That's 7 1/2 million points of
experience!

There is something VERY WRONG with this game if someone can Master/Ace a profession
in three weeks. I thought SOE fix that OBVIOUS experience point exploit??

Why do I call it that? How the hell else can someone get 7 1/2 million points in three weeks if
they are not exploiting a flaw in the experience point system!!??

Welcome to SWG.

Xp does not come hard. I seem to hit my XP cap (in space) all the time.

Besides- you aren't really suggesting the kind of mindless XP grind that exists in Jedi are you? At least theres some content in the pilot tree.

18 Kabillion XP to get jedi (orace for that matter),is pointless and wrong. Unless you happen to be someone who is happy doing the same thing over and over again (18 kabillion times).

A three hour grind to ace is cheating - no doubt about it, but I've been helping people who made ace in 1-2 weeks. It was a lot of work for them- they earned it.

*shrug* I'm at 4333. I'd have been ace a couple of weeks ago if I wasn't playing the WoW beta. It's really not that difficult.

this is kind of a silly thread. Of course power gamers are going to get master very quickly. Im a powergamer, six peopleincluding myself had ace pilot on bria 4 days after the release of jtl.

It's really not that hard to master in that time frame.

A month? I dunno what crack your smoking but i have never seen skills take a month of hard work to ever finish in a game

lmao, sadly weaponsmith took me that long. if i had the collected resources maybe, but trying to master this as your first prof and being a broke as* noob, it was insanely difficult lol. but back to the point, uhhh i did about 3 days of actual grinding solo and im at 3-3-3-2. And i would be 4-3-3-3 right now if this last imp mission wasnt so hard (i took two people up with me but they destroyed my target lol)

Well some of us have jobs and lives and even 3 weeks is too long to master any profession, might help also if space was fun

but its not, destroying the same fighters over and over and over and......you see my point

i mastered my pilot last night. and my guild buddy mastered shipwright in a mere hour. if you have a resources, it takes no time to master shipwright. but my friend has been saving for 3 months. i did the master pilot mission with 39 other ppl. it was intense. my guildies all helped, and a few other guilds were in the group.

Yup...don't think the OP has even installed JTL.

First off, pilotis esentially a base proffession, no pre-reqs..Ace pilot is approxamate to master brawler.

Secondly, the progression is ENTIRELY gated. You cant be 4-0-0-0, for example. You HAVE to get 1111 before you can get lvl 2 in any of the skills

Third, as you do missions, they GIVE you boxes for completions. Happens a couple of times (I think) in tier 1 and ALL of tier 3 is just a matter of finsihing 4 missions.

Looking at that, it's obvious that the devs not only expected masters within a week of launch, they INTENDED it.

A true powergamer could probably go up to ace in just a couple of days. It's not that hard.

I'm halfway through tier 4, and have pretty much been sailing through the missions up to this point without any failiurs yet(In fact, seems like the missions are about 90% easier in live than they were during beta). Only thing that really stops me from mastering the professions soon is the XP-grind on tier 4.

That's the problem with the skill system of SWG. With just a total of 18(?) boxes per profession, they can't slow the progress down much without adding a lot of mindless grinding. The JTLmissions are not veryeffective as a time sink, there would have to be about 10 missions per box or something like that for it to work more effectively as one.
