I have just came back to SWG from about a 5 month break and i dont really have a clue what im doing... So what i guess im asking for is how do you go about to kll things. Is using cover and getting as far away as possible really nessecary or can i just use one or two abilities to kill the monster. I see the thing for leveling now is to get a group, what role does a rifleman carry? Anything else that you can help me with is more than appreciated. thanks
ps. Right now i have a laser rifle and really no armor. i am 4/4/4/4 rifleman, 0/0/0/3 BH, and a box or two into combat medic

this thread may help you http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=rifleman&message.id=98096
Cover is great - you need to be at least 20-30m away from everything but it allows two fire conceal shots on a target and then lead off your uncovered attack with a sniper shot for huge damage.

Riflemans role is now. Front Loaded Nuker... Hit em hard and hope they die before they get to you. You should use more then 1 attack type while in combat as the more specials you have the more chance that onewill be recharged when you need another to fire.
Beaware of your action pool - some times it is better to use a lower damaging marksmen attack then a rifleman or Bh attack to conserve action for a even bigger attack

How do I dock to get the info if they continually decline? I have done this repeated for over an hour and have not gotten any luck.
Did you disable them by using [ and ] to select the specific part (engine or reactor) to disable?

Nope. I guess that's what I'm not doing right.
Yup, that's likely it.

Now, I know this will probably seem like a very newbie question. Because it is, I have never been a Combat Medic before in any sense of the word.
I gave up SWG a long time ago, right after the holocron craze ended. I was..a MBH, and 0020 in pistols. Keep in mind this was when you had to be master scout/marksman and such.
When I came back last month, I was able to respec, so I decided to become a master Teras Kasi, master Fencer and a 3001 doctor.
Now, I have decided to go back to being a master Bounty Hunter with another respec. I have decided to be a MBH/MCM/0004 in pistols, for stopping shot.
Now that you know where I am coming from, this is my question. I got CM last night, master immediately, but I can only do toxins, ED, shock, ect within 5 meters. I got CM to be a threat to NPCs, and if i'm a ranged fighter, I don't want to be in 5m range to do debuffs.
Is it possible to go beyond 5m? Any possible way? As an added note, when I was testing out CM skills, I had no ranged weapon, if that makes a difference.
Thanks for your time.

The range is 10m for debuffs and 35m for DoT's, and there is no way to go beyond that.

Go 0/1/0/3 pistols, the acc bonus on such a low acc template is nice.

OK a real newbie question
I have a Kamurith Defiler he is at
Trainable Abilities: 3
Training Points: 90
Yet I cannot teach him Marring Storm (L3)
Have I not reached that point yet? Or am I bugged? How do you tell what training points you need to teach certain abilities?
again sorry for the simple question

You'll have to teach him Marring Storm L1 and then Marring Storm L2 before you can teach him Marring Storm L3.

how does everyone get that one wrong, it is right in the guide. You will also have to level your pet for more skill points to teach all three levels of MS . Oh and I bet you if you leveled your pet one more time he will have 4 ability slots.

note that YOU can learn abilities in any order (for example, I could learn Marring Storm L3 before I learn Marring Storm L1) HOWEVER, you can only teach your pets the abilities in proper number order... 1, then 2, then 3.

While the pet may very well earn another ability slot there is no guarantee that it will at each maturity level. I'm not sure if you meant it that way so I'd thought I'd toss that out there for the new player.
