My level 69 Angler seems to do just fine - I group with it and send it up against MOBS - it takes off about a third of their health, then I step in. I use it to 'fish' MOBs from the lairs, and if the opponent gets to close, then the angler joins in and adds another 30% to my damage potential.
I take out level 82's this way.
As for the narglatch triplets - my guild actually requested that they came along on the ryratt trails because they were so effective. I think they're more popular than me!

I have similar experiences, having no trouble at all as master CH. Can I stand back and twiddle my thunbs as my pet does everything for me? No... but working with my pet(s) things are going just fine.
Ditto...I am went to the rryatt trails last night and retrieved the radio...My pet was a champ....Did he need heals? - absolutely....Did it take strategy? - absolutely!!! Did I win? Absolutely!!! I love my pets and CH...I agree it needs improvement...but it is not totally broken the way some make it to be. Just fix the specials and I will be happy.
Ahem, Rangers are the weakest profession out of all professions that have a CL increase.

I am seriously fed up with this profession. I never thought i would say it. I am beginging to feel it is time for me to quit.
Seriously... First of all nuthing was ever repaired pre-cu from any of the nerfs. Second when the CU did hit we got nerfed some more.. Creatures lost specials, armor, variety, uniqueness and most of all, our love for the profession. I can honestly say I don't feel the way i used ot baout CH anymore. We are the weakest profession now.. without a doubt.. not only are we weak, but for god sakes does it have to take up so many friggen skill points? You took 14 skill points from us already... I was gunna respect today for the last ime.. I was thinking carbineer cause the battle armor owuld be nice but as pisitleer right now i have good guns and amabari belt with stats.. Pistols is to precious to drop... Bad enough the CU made me drop swordsman.... Then I wanted to go smuggelr but I dont have enough points.. I am not even gunna get into what I was thinking all day but i sepnt 2 hours sitting on the respec screen deciding what to do and dropping cH was my first priority cause It wasn't helping me. Taking out my Great plan stalker was starting to make me sick. Tehn finally I decide I was going to do something.. when poof connection to SWG lost.... OH GREAT.. I can't respec anymore.. Thanks sony for being Dikheads.
I don't think I can play this anymore.. I logged on to my other character respected him tonovice templates of what i wanted to be on my main.. But leveling STINKS now. You are forced to group hunt to get decent exp.. all my weapons, armor and things are useless to me now..... I am poor and I cant run missions my own level.. I am forced to beg for moeny.. So screw that. I don't know what to say but I think SWG is dead and as a long time veteran saying I think it is time for me to quit...It is another gut shot for sony.. even though they might gain new players.. the more veterans they lose.. the faster this game will sink.
Creature handler is no longer a profession... It is a waste of skill points.... It grants no bonus abilitys and is weak even as master.. no pet can take a mob its equal level and the highest level we can have is 70 when our characters are 80? I am SICK of jedi....
So I will take a break and decide weather or not I should leave Jedi Wars Galaxies.
I think there are lootable tapes to increase pet level of control.

Oddly, I think that what i noticed most about CH lately. Iv been an on and off CH since launch and like going out tameing my pets, but they seem alot mote like mindless npc's rather than animals.
ALso didnt max creatue level at MCH used to be 75? becasue i have a maclov( dathmir fambaa thing) thats like CL 73 that i tamed the day of the CU and i cant control it anymore. But i shouldnt have been able to tame it if i couldnt control 70+ pets.
it is not possible, by any way you can think of, to raise the max controlable level.
The max a MCH can handle is 70, nothing more.
About that lvl73pet, was it a pet you actually cought in the wild, or was it a BE pet that was in your inventory and that you tamed there ?
If it was a pet in the wild, it was a bug. If it was a BE pet, that was a common issue that everyone with BE pets had, but that is fixed now (for most players).

It was a pet i tamed in the wild, i was have way up CH when i respeced up to master. First thing i did wsa go to dath to tame a pet and that was it. I did have a BE pet that i tamed after the CU, which is now CL 214 with 10k health
I am a Master CH. I used the Respec period to Respec into MBE post CU and made 2 creatures, a 69 Gurrek and 69 Rancor, couldnt seem to get 70, without going over to 71, but I only tried a day or so. Both pets are fully grown now, with around 6700 -6800 HAM and 101-400 dmg. They are pretty damn equal in fight. Rancor does a bit more dmg, but the Gurrek is smaller and easier to use in tight spaces.
I tried two combos: MCH + MDoc and MCH + MSmug. Both combos work perfectly. The Master Doc was probably a bit easier, but the MSmug was more fun and challeneging. I have taken elite 82s with both. Both of these combos allow the pet to tank. For most of my 82 missions, we take themobs one at a time. With Doc, I threw a bacta infusion, and did my nails. The pet had zero problems soloing. With MSmug, I throw a few debuffs and do my nails. I do not understand why others are having problems, unless you are outdamaging your pet or trying to take on multiple mobs at once. The devs gave the pets an awesome ability to pull single mobs from groups. If you are not using that ability - here is how you do it:
/tellpet attack; /pause 4. /tellpet follow
And when the enemy gets close, tell the pet attack again. There is a pathing bug, so sometimes you have to sidestep a few feet, and tell the pet to follow and reattack, or just have him follow and lead him up next to the mob.
The only time i have died in two weeks, was when grouping with others. Solo, I have zero problems and never have to run?? I just don't get it. Are you trying to solo ancient Kraytes? Right now, I am MCH + Msmug. I have a FWG pistol and Padded armor. I am thinking of dropping the armor and using clothes as I rarely have to be attacked with my pet tanking. My Dps is around 130.
Now, in the defence of everyone, it may be that you are trying to fight too far above your level?? I do not know. I am CL80, this makes my pet CL80 when grouped with me. This may also be a problem, if you are not grouping with your pet. If not mine would remian CL69, and probably be ripped apart.
I amo not trying to say others are dumb for having problems, I am simply saying that I am not and trying to show everyone what i have been doing not to have them.
No. Max level has always been level-70. What has changed is the levels of the creatures in the game. All those "balance passes" for the various planets were the devs tweaking creature levels and such. For example, a Boar Wolf prior to the Combat Upgrade was CL-25. After the CU, it shot up to CL-65! Likewise, the Malklocs bounced around a bit before the devs pegged their level to it's current point. They were tameable for a while, then were bumped up.

Yep Real, and when you hit level 80 and you take out that same level 69 pet to fight a level 80 that is the same level as you, watch as your level 69 pet gets torn apart in a matter of seconds and does no real damage to the level 80.
You've nicely pointed out the problem with this profesion. At level 54 when all you have is MCH and no other combat class it works very well. However it doesn't scale worth a damn. When you hit level 80, that level 69 pet is worth next to nothing. Watch as it hits the level 80's with 54 damage per hit instead of the 400 it was doing to lower level mobs and when it's getting hit for over 500 a shot, those 6800 hp's don't last long at all.

I have a problem......
I cannot do that, for several reasons:
a) bit too attached to my old pets (even if they got nerfed beyond recognitions and made completely useless)
b)i do not have enough credits to start all over again buying the now good BE pets, only waiting for next "nerfbat hit" to see them become a) again...
c) My alternative profession is Master Ranger... (well what more suitabel for a Ranger to be accompanied by his pets in the wild)... Were it not that I'm not at all viable. I myself cannot do much damage, have no mitigation/defenses (unlessI use ridicilous armor that doesn't fit the unheard/unseen role ranger I try to play), and my pets get torn apart ....
Only options I have left are:
1. Keep Master Ranger and drop CH alltogether and become rifle (or, heaven forbid, BH)
2. Keep Master CH and get some other profession (which I do not want)...
So basically I'm really messed up...
