Thread: FED UP
Sorry to hear that. Hope your break is a good one, It usually helps.
When I stopped playing SWG the first time (cause I got an ass holocron and didn't want to pursue it) I could have gone on and on about why I quit and why the game wasn't for me. 1 1/2 years later I'm back in it and having a blast. I even went and bought a second account, something I've never done before, and I've played a lot of MMO's.
As to CH being a dead prof, I have to disagree. I can solo just fine. I'm a CL58 and when I go to Endor, for example, I get level 65 missions. My cl69 GSH has no prob tanking, holding agro, and kicking butt at that level. I can make 16k, and a bunch of creature food/hide, every 30 minutes doing those missions.
Just two nights ago I was on Dath and clearing Bull Rancor lairs. My pet and I were pulling one at a time and mopping them up. Safe. I don't know what happened to this lair but all of a sudden it spawned 3 Bull Rancors on us, when it should have popped just one at most and I got incapped from the aoe. My pet took all 3 Bull Rancors down by itself, at the same time.
It's been my experince that CH's are able to solo their own CL...and then some.
Yep Real, and when you hit level 80 and you take out that same level 69 pet to fight a level 80 that is the same level as you, watch as your level 69 pet gets torn apart in a matter of seconds and does no real damage to the level 80.
You've nicely pointed out the problem with this profesion. At level 54 when all you have is MCH and no other combat class it works very well. However it doesn't scale worth a damn. When you hit level 80, that level 69 pet is worth next to nothing. Watch as it hits the level 80's with 54 damage per hit instead of the 400 it was doing to lower level mobs and when it's getting hit for over 500 a shot, those 6800 hp's don't last long at all.
My level 69 Angler seems to do just fine - I group with it and send it up against MOBS - it takes off about a third of their health, then I step in. I use it to 'fish' MOBs from the lairs, and if the opponent gets to close, then the angler joins in and adds another 30% to my damage potential.
I take out level 82's this way.
As for the narglatch triplets - my guild actually requested that they came along on the ryratt trails because they were so effective. I think they're more popular than me!
That is fair Denaiya, and I can see how it would be much tougher for me to be able to take cl80's. I haven't been trying myself because I have been fighting without stims (waiting till my BE gets his factory up to make them
But, I would like to say that I don't feel that fighting CL80 mobs is the pinnacle of enjoyment that it is supposed to be. Will I really have more 'fun' soloing cl80 mobs over cl 71? I'm a CH/BE I tame babies and collect DNA, neither of which can be done on a cl 80.
I can, however, see how those that are more into PVP and 'end game' content can be upset. Although, I think if you choose CH you should do so with the understanding that it isn't a full combat class.

Yep, had that lovely experience yesterday as I put my just-finished-growing CL 69 shear mite onto a CL 83 Rancor and watched it disappear faster than a sno-cone in the Mojave, leaving me with the traditional Creature Handler 'Brave Sir Robin' tactic as my only alternative ....

haha I use that tactic quit a bit... But leaving my GPS behind isnt the most reasuring thing.. so of course.. I run into the mob myself to save it and I go down faster then he did.. when you send your pet into an agro. mob they all tend to still agro. your pet. Thats not fun. And now that ike everything uses ranged attack they piss themselves off more. At CL 80 CH is useless, it doesnt help in pvp (large scale) it doesnt give you bonuses.. unless you count battle armor.. the worst armor there is... and pets just arnt themselves anymore.. they seem like computer game pets now.. not my in game companions with a mind of thier own... Trust me.. for someone who likes to hunt and pvp.. CH is the worst profession to think about getting. And now that I have gotten all the rares that I wanted... There isnt anything to do.. Pre-CU I would goLOOT hunt. I would go to tusken.. geo lab... DW.. As swordsman by myself.. I didn't need my pets.. I would hunt in fort tusken buffless.. I would hunt places amorless.. I was strong... now NO ONE can solo any dungen. THAT IS A BAD THING.. The game is uber boring now and now that fort tusken are all level 30 there is NO point to go there anymore.. Loot isnt dropped like it used to.. and you dont get EXP from things not your level... you are FORCED to group hunt and that is now the worst part of this game...
This game really suks now.. Alot of people like it and you can voice your opinins why.. but still

I am not talking about missions... I am not talking about group hunting.. I am not talking about exp grinding... Go to Geo lab and try to solo.. go to fort tusken and watch your pet get taken down by a tusken when you can slay it in 3 shots.. I did.. What i am saying now is CH doesnt benefit you anymore.. it is only minor support.. IT doesnt make you yourself stronger.. doeesnt give you the edge it used to. PVP forget it only helps in 1 on 1 pvp. For somone who is level 80 and is happy with thier template likes to pvp and hunt in big places.. you can't anymroe and CH doesnt help it only brings you down... when in reality CH would probably be the best profession to have for those reasons.
This profession has the most potential then any other profession in this game... It can be the best or the worst.. and right now it is the worst and the devs are keepin that way. CH is a game in a game and can be its own game if it wanted to.The devs must be siths cause they sure hate us.
I'm with you thereI got intoCH soIcould tame and use a rancor but with the CU the rancor is no longer an option cuz they tripled its level so nowthe only reason I'm continuing withCH is so can master it after thatI may drop it or may keep it but since i'm at 2/3/2/3 leaving would seem like a big waste of time if iI don't continue with it

I have similar experiences, having no trouble at all as master CH. Can I stand back and twiddle my thunbs as my pet does everything for me? No... but working with my pet(s) things are going just fine.

Where are you running in to cl 150 rancors? I've got two wild rancors tamed that I still use, they're cl 50?
