the DEV's have destroyed our profession i'm surprised they STILL have it in the game i hate to say this but for the first time since i got CH i'm actually telling people NOT to go for it what have to us is insane if i wasn't halfway to master i'd drop it right now
seriously Woody4077, what's wrong with your writing ![]()
Why don't you type in a normal font size with a normal colour and with punctuation marks ?
I noticed that every reply you give is like that, I don't know what others think, but it is pretty annoying and to me you come over like a noob (no offense at all, maybe you are a veteran, I don't know, I just say you COME OVER like one, not that you are one)

I have a problem......
I cannot do that, for several reasons:
a) bit too attached to my old pets (even if they got nerfed beyond recognitions and made completely useless)
b)i do not have enough credits to start all over again buying the now good BE pets, only waiting for next "nerfbat hit" to see them become a) again...
c) My alternative profession is Master Ranger... (well what more suitabel for a Ranger to be accompanied by his pets in the wild)... Were it not that I'm not at all viable. I myself cannot do much damage, have no mitigation/defenses (unlessI use ridicilous armor that doesn't fit the unheard/unseen role ranger I try to play), and my pets get torn apart ....
Only options I have left are:
1. Keep Master Ranger and drop CH alltogether and become rifle (or, heaven forbid, BH)
2. Keep Master CH and get some other profession (which I do not want)...
So basically I'm really messed up...
I can see your problems and you have outlined them concisely without flaming (thankyou for that)
I am CH and Master Commando, so have had to learn adaptability and optimism - and in that frame of mind, I would address your issues like this:
a) I too am attached to my old pets - my GSP was nerfed to hell after the CU, and now I don't put him into combat at all because I want to keep him - so I completely relate to this. I do, however, bring him out for company. Nothing better than sitting in a camp with that big cat sat next to you.
b) Compared to the 'elite' pets like the female narglatchs - BE pets are no longer hugely better than those you can tame. They are simply more customisable. The Elite tamables seem to have a good combination of high HAM and good attack damage, and best of all, they're free. I obviously can't guaruntee that these will not be nerfed (especially the narglatch trios).
c) As master CH/master ranger you are CL80 which gives you the option to use weapons like the laser rifle and FWG pistol. Obviously you won't do as much damage as the professions generally associated with those weapons (pistoleer, rifleman) but you will be able to do respectable damage probably up to 200DPS. Combine that with your trapping abilities and you have the perfect chance to pull one MoB using your creature, trap while the creature takes agro, then when the opponent is sufficiently 'stated', hit it with your weapon. You and your pet will have good combined damage, and the MoB won't be able to do a lot about it.
Now, I may be being completely optimistic in that analysis, but as you can see from my template, I adapt to keep the profs I like. So I would recommend staying the wat you are, unless you really aren't happy.

I tend not to flame and use logic whenever possible. After all, I'm a Ranger and we have a Rep to upkeep

True. That's what i see too. However, I'd like to seem them participate in all things. Not to just show off, just as my camps are...

And if I had enough space for more pets, I'd have gone out and gotten them already. However, I did get myself a number of pets already, which I really don't like to be giving up... see my a) in original post.

True... With the advanced laser rifle (CL54 ) i do about 1k+ damage. However. this means the creature also comes right to me. Even if they are alone, I get torn apart as well: even wearing armor: with only (approx) 45 def and 30 in off skills it's not helping... Combine this with the SHARED timer for healing either my pet or me....
Ow and about the traps... Only the p-dart is working... Almost to good... So I expect a nerfbat hit there soon enough, to make it useless as every other trap...

Depending on what will be done for Ranger (mainly) and CH before 16th sept. I might or might not keep my toon/account... I said I'd never drop Ranger/CH and I'm sticking with that. I'd rather have my toon walk out with the sunset to never return then respec into something I don't want (doesn't fit the roleplaying)...
Once again your points have come across in a truly detailed and clear manner /bow
To be honest, it is good to see a CH who values their pets as highly as you do. Since the respec there are far too many creatures being used as tools rather than companions - and, as you say, it would be nice for them to be a little of both. The reason I went out to get a GSP in the first place, was seeing a wookiee rebel with his big cat tearing imperial trooper to shreds (pre-CU of course).
I can get just under 1k damage with the laser rifle, much more than my heavy weapons - so I guess it must be the assault armor and root shot that is tipping the balance for me.
So if I may make one more suggestion to you, and hope it proves useful. Keep your CH/Ranger template, but put your remaining points into novice smuggler in order to get the concussion shot. This will root the target for 20 seconds, and will allow you to take a big chunk off it's health before it gets to you. It has proved invaluable for me, especially as targets can be re-rooted allowing you to keep your distance. If the pet is getting hammered - tell it to follow you, and the target will stay where it is. The added bonus of this is the slightly higher damage specials you get from the pistol branch, which should bump that 1k damage up even more.
As I say, I hope that helps.

Because of the SP requirements, that is not possible...
Pre-cu I was MRanger/MCH/Marksman 4---/Rifleman -1-- (concealshot, which helped me a lot).
After CU, the pre-req changed. For any elite combat, 2 base trees are needed... So I HAD to drop Rifleman at all and was able to get Marksman 4--4... 0 sp left.
I respecced now to Marksman 21-4 so i could get Novice BH as well as FS ER Survival...
(Again, because BH is the only other combat profession having roots in scout)...

No it hasn't. It hasn't been destroyed at all. It's an awesome prof. I spend 5 hours a night playing and having an absolute blast.

Fun.Fun.Fun.Fun.Fun.
Pre-CU tameable rancors were:
- 46 Gnarled Rancor
- 50 Rancor
- 65 Bull Rancor
There are grauls that were level 35 but never a wild rancor, only BE rancors were below 46.
Having been an MCH for nearly a year and a half, I have to disagree that the profession is "destroyed". Yes, there are some totally annoying bugs, yes there are some features that were removed and we are waiting patiently to have fixed (like specials which serve to keep our pets speciesunique).
I am still able to fight better than most CL80 characters I know--I have my ace or aces in the hole if I get into trouble and that is my pets. My pets are just as much companions as they are tools. I prefer to hunt alone or with a friend or two so my pets are often my only companions. There is still a lot of strategy involved--especially since now I am strong enough to fight alone whereas before I couldn't do that without a pet tanking for me. I am playing the same template I have played for over a year. I love it and have no intentions of changing.
Yes, my combat tactics have changed, but I'm still having fun and I long for the day when our major issues will be fixed. Those fixes will only enhance what I am already doing, not replace.

I see absolutely no problem with grouping to get experience. I don't know why that comes up so often on these forums.
It's a problem when your a new person and don't have any friends, the game box doesn't say under minimum requirements "Good friendship skills required to do anything", some people just plain aren't very social and wouldn't have a good time trying to find a group.
all i know is that experience increasesfor new
skill boxes is not what we needed
alot of the boxes went from a base of 50k-175k
to a base of 250k-500k
and master went from completion of the 4 trees to
completeion of the 4 trees PLUS 1 MILLION CH exp who in there
right mind is going to play long enough to collect 1 MILLION EXP
add in the fact that many creatures are so far
above the tamable max thatkeeping themis
no longer viable
those are my main reasons for saying that
our profession has been destroyed
