People that play only at odd hours make up a small percentage of the gaming population and SOE won't be bothering to help them out and hurt the rest. Sorry, but that is a fact. If you can't get a group to help and you are unable to solo the mission then you are not ready for advancement. This game is twitch so any mission is possible, you just need to have the skill.

Help them out and hurt the rest? LOL, ever heard ofdynamic mission difficulties? And if they really want people to group for advancement, why did they design the missions so only one person in thegroup can take them at a time otherwise you end up with multiple spawns? The way I see it, only the two master missions are really designed for groups, while the rest are for individuals.

Thanks for all your replies, there's quite a few suggestions there to help me out so I'm really keen to try and beat this mission now after having a break from it and doing my "it's too hard I'm giving up" impression lol

What I fail to understand though is why on earth is it so hard for me, I can totally see the point in having to group in the ground game for high end stuff like some village quests and the pwndawan trials but jtl is just another profession like swordsman or rifleman, oh how people would flame the boards if it was so difficult to master a ground game profession (except jedi).

Maybe it's my choice of ship or squadren I dunno but it may keep my interest a little longer if I changed squadren although I don't really know how to do this. I'm only presuming this is possible from reading one of the posts above so how do I change? That is if I can't finish this mission.

I soloed Freelance up to Tier 3 and then wallop! Hit a Gunship mission. I'm sure people have done this solo, but I got hammered (twice).

So I called for help. Got a friendly Imp to come along (through all the boring docking bits as well, bless him) and did the mission.

I like soloing, but as in RL sometimes you need a little help. I don't think it's out of order. And the joint m,ission was good fun also.

Yeah but the problem is most of the time its totally impossible to get any help. Requiring grouping is totally retarded when the devs had to know we had a problem getting people to group up in the first damn place! That is the problem I have with this whole dev created mess! Yeah grouping is fun...whenyou find the people for a group....which is very few of the time! It was this way since the beginning of the game and the devs knew this! Why do you think people are paying millions for the AV 21? If grouping was easy then everyone would keep doing the necessary missions until they got their own AV 21 instead of being forced to buy one. Requiring grouping is yet another misstep in a long line of missteps by the devs...wether some people admit or not!

notice no one has offered help yet....this just illustrate my points!

You aren't seeing the big picture Nachodewi. For someone to be an Ace Pilot, they need to learn how to fly in a squadron. That is just one part of being a fighter pilot. If you only ever fly alone, you only get to a certain point, but throw a couple wingman on you and flying combat suddenly becomes a different ball game. The devs gave us missions that were middle of the road. Some people have no problem doing these missions solo. I know I have helped many people in my guild and even those who were not in my guild complete missions. Now that they have flown some simple missions (and the profession missions are simple, just play Xwing Alliance if you want to see some complex missions) I can now count on them to cover my wing in other battles.

While you say people are leaving in droves, this holiday season saw many, many people come to SWG for the first time. This game is doing well. A lot of thepeople in my guildthat left the game 8 months ago have come back and are having fun. I am not disagreeing that the devs have made the road bumpy and sometimes don't have the smartest solutions, but in the case of missions difficulty, I think it should stay right were it is in JTL.

LOL, the enemy doesn't retreat some of there ships when they see that there is an undersized force against them. You are given a mission and how you complete it is up to you. Get a squadron together that can handle it or be a top ace and solo it. Your choice, but failure is not an option.

I couldn't agree more that grouping in missions is flawed at times (like you said if both people have the same mission their would be two spawns) but that doesn't mean that they should make the missions easier, but rather they should fix it so it is a group mission, not justan individual player mission.

Why are you guys totally ignoring the OBVIOUS? ITS HARD TO GET PEOPLE TO GROUP WITH YOU MOST OF THE TIME! If grouping was easy we would not be having all these threads of people complaining! Its amazing how people keep talking around this issue. Notice no one has stepped up to my request for help! Its been like this for months. I have started 2 other threads offering to hire people and I got a couple responses in the forum but once I emailed them in game they never responded.

To the poster who talked about people coming in during Christmas....if people are chased away by poor missions difficulty in JTL then its only a matter of time before the noobs leave in fraustration too. Its poor game design to have to depend purely on new players instead of retaining what you already have.

Like all things with this game the devs will wait until the JTL part of the game it totally dead then make promises about a JTL revamp. These guys are seriously not bright! Fix the diffuculty level or come up with some way to make grouping normal! Hell even give us NPS wingmen purchasable by faction points or something.

That just makes it that much sweeter whne you complete it, I had tried 6 separate times to complete an IMP Tier 3 mission, with 4-5 differrent people. IT WAS FUN....Even better vwhen I finally completed it today. Do like i do Hang around a space station and wait for an Ace to come by, 2 out of 3 people will help you....I promise...MAY THE FORCE BE SITH YOU....

We know the power gamers and the people who are not really skilled but they have friends to help them are happy BUT WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE PLAYERS? The rest of the players are what's going to keep this game alive not just the few powergamers.

Since some of the peoplehere chose to bury their heads in the sand and keep insisting that its not hard to find a group here is my challenge....

You see my name and my server in my sig. I would like to take this opportunity to request help on my missions since I have been stuck for over a month. I have stopped playing since I did not see a way to complete my mission. I got killed 3 times doing the same mission before I gave up. I am at 2222. Please respond here in this thread if you are willing to help. I will be back posting to this thread to update people.

The fact of the matter is its hard to get people to agree to spend sometimes over an hour helping you on your missions. Anyway lets see how many people answer my request.

Message Edited by NACHODEWI on 01-18-2005 05:18 AM

Actually, we can see your name but not your server. If you are using the lack of responses as a part of your argument then you already have a flawed argument. Trying not to flame too much here...but if you are looking for group help as you stated above then you need to pay attention to giving people the relevent facts such as: In Game Name, Server, Faction, Squadron, times available, place to meet, etc......get the drift.

Do you want help or do you want to prove your point about how hard it is to group up? Right now you are doing neither.

But why is it the devs problem that you can't find a group. It is really not hard at all. It is called getting involved with a guild. In most guilds you can easily find people to go into space to help out. If not, then you are in a bad guild and may want to try another one. There are even guilds based on play times (usually based in a country not in America) so there are lots of opertunities for you. Don't cry to the devs if you can't find a group, because there is absolutely nothing they can do to help you there. As for the mission difficulty, if they make them easier for the cry babies noobs, then they will start hearing from the cry baby leets about everything being too easy and not having any content. Your view is a minority, and while I feel for you, you are taking it out on the wrong people. You need to learn how to find a group. I went out in space on Saturday and within minutes had a group of 5 people including a Nova Courier to take out gunboats. It wasn't even a mission but people in general like to help, especially if they are related to you in some way (like being a guildie).

If you're not willing to join a guild, or to join a server which has people playing in your play-hours, you shouldn't be playing an MMO basically.

"Requiring grouping is totally retarded when the devs had to know we had a problem getting people to group up in the first damn place!"

I take this kind of statement as "I should be able to solo everything because I dont like grouping". While its all kind of a moot point because you are not required to group, nor do you even need to, lets examine a simple fact:

You want to solo. You will ardently defend your ability to do so, citing many reasons for this. One of those arguements will be that you should be able to play how you want, and that your playstyle should be rewarded.

I want to group. I have every bit as much of a right to group, as you do to solo. If however, you do not provide reasons to group, then I can not group. Need an example? See the guy "proving" how hard it is to get a group. Reason? No one needs to group.

Any game should provide for EACH type of person, NOT just people who want to solo. If this means as a grouper, I have to do some things solo, and as a soloer, you have to do some things, grouped, then so be it. You can not argue however that your prefered way of playing should be the only way of playing, and that the entire gaming populace along with sony should bend to your wishes. It just doesnt work like that.
