Thread: JTL Space Factions and TEF changes in-live 2/24/05

Running faction missions on the ground is rediculously easy, and can be done very quickly to build up faction. I'm presuming that you do not get extra faction rewards for doing missions (especailly as a freelance pilot).

The question I have is whether or not I can gain any faction points as a freelance pilot? If so, how, and what are the risks? It looks like I have to go overt (both on ground & in space?), and be open to attack. That probably isn't much of an option for me since I'm just starting out in JTL and would be easy pickin's for more advanced pilots.

To get Faction Points, you simply have to go Overt in space. Works for me.

It is overt only in space? Do I need to worry about PvP in Corellia space? Can I run my newbie (T2) missions in Correllia space and get some faction (stop imperial aggresion)?

If I can go over in space only, how do I do that?

OK, just for clarification, what does item # 5 there mean? If I, as an Inquisitors Ace Imperial Pilot, were to, hypothetically want to become a Privateer, what is the exp bonus? Does this mean I get more exp per kill when I start over, so that it goes up quicker? Thanks!

Yes, yes and oo btw yes.

So 2X after your first master 3X after your second and so on....

Makes a much faster trip up the pilot tree. BUT remember this is only if you fully master a pilot profession "credit you will receive"

yes you get double xp if you ace, then do pilot over, but if you ace a second time, and do pilot over, you still only get double, not triple. i have tested this in live, and am planning to try quadruple.but once you've aced, you dont get double prestige.

what id really like to test is if before you ace, and go overt, if you get double the fp

how about making it so as an imp-ground/free-space i don't get attacked by TIEs! a lot of my friends are imp pilots and use the "bomber strike" move. thats all fine and dandy until one of those TIEs get in my fire lane and decide that i'm an enemy. thats just silly. i'm an imperial colonel for crying out loud. i thought that the only real effect chosing a pilot profession was supposed to have was ship choice and specials? i thought i'd still be "friendly" to imperial NPC in space. it makes it so that i can't fight along side my guildies if we come across those space battles where there are reb and imp NPC fighting, cause i will inevitably get chased to hyperspace by my own faction... i really hope something is done about that.

getting FP would be nice too. can't neutrals on the ground gain FP for any kill, whether reb or imp NPC? i'd go overt, but the twerp at the imp station tells me to join the empire? huh? you little punk! i'm a colonel! seriously, i don't get why i can't gain faction for killing rebel NPC in space.

heck, if you would have given each faction a YT-1300 like you said you were going to (i don't want no stinking decimator!), i'd be an imp pilot and none of this would even effect me... /shrug

If you choose to switch sides (or go true neutral):

  1. You will need to start over with your new pilot profession from scratch. All XP and prestige will be set to zero when you "resign" your pilots skills.

If I am incorrect on any of this [or as things get "patched" ofr changes] please let me know.......

This is flat out theft of my time and effort of what i put in to the game.

I used to be Rebel on ground and rebel pilot, a few weeks ago i resigned rebel on ground lost my rank and saved points in the process. Now i am forced back to rebels on ground with a new rank and 0 points. and further more im forced to surrender all my boxes in pilot for nothing to be able to remain neutral.

there is no difference if they force me to drop it, or if they had deleted them in first place with the patch. its theft. they changed the frames, Sure i drop my rebel pilot skill learn neutral pilot from scratch to be able to fly again, and in a week or month or year they make a new change and force me to change it and delete the boxes again.

I have no trust in the devs, sure they can say offcourse we will not do that, they can promisse anything they want. they dont deserve trust, and i wont give it to them. They took my character and changed it without my content or permission thats the cold facts. They did it without asking for permission. So what happens next week, they take a percent of the characters on each server and make them imperial without asking people just so they can get a server balance.

Nope my trust is gone, so i my support to a company that lies to my face, and do as they want without concern of the players wishes.

For people who had trouble mastering and are going to have to start at novice again, regardless oftheir subsequent grind being 'easier xp', isn't this going to be a tad hard to swallow? How about a second option to not get any added master bonus and just let them pick one of the alternate squad masters?

I'm going to switch to reb after I master Neutral, and I think it will be in my interest to go up the tree as opposed to just switching masteries. I think it would just be advisable to learn the capabilities ofeach of theships in lower tier settings before taking them into a tier 5 situation untested.

To quote fromt eh Jump to lightspeed manual page 10.

Space quest trainers will only train like-faction or neutral players.

With this patch they turned that upside down to be

Space quest trainers will only train like-faction, BUT the neutral trainer will train all.

not only do they deny that they changed anything, they even call neutrals able to train faction pilots a bug not intended it was adressed on the beta jtl boards that neutral should not be able to train faction pilot, and it was answered with "we have a long term plan why they should be able to"

guess the plan is revelead as a scam to trick neutral players in to faction on either side. as they did the last patch.

My neutral character was rebel after the patch and if i resign to go back to neutral as i was before the patch i lose all my pilot skills in the process, So tell me whats the difference they doing this or they just flat out had delted all my pilot skills and let me reamin neutral in the first place?

Its not to small issue about me have to train neutral pilot skills to replace my "lost" rebel skills that are the core of the matter, its the fact they lied, tricked and tampered with my character sheet that made me cancel two accounts.

Now it dont matter anymore if they change around and fix it, not even if they offer free skills in a choosen profession sill matter. they lied and they tampered with character sheets without those character where in violation to the set rules and nothing less with them admitting to the fact they did and ensure me they will not in the future my support to the company has ended in more then one way,

What happens if i'm Imperial on the ground and want to switch to rebel on the ground? I"m a master freelance pilot in the smuggler alliance. Will i lose that from switching my ground faction from imperial to rebel?

So let me ask this...

I am currently a 4443 Rebel pilot with enough XP for 4444 once I finish these crazy missions

If I decide to do the remaining 2 Rebel pilot Ace professions, do I still get any bonus XP for completing them? Or is it only if you complete Pilot in the different factions that you get the bonus XP?

Thank you for that reply. One more question. What are my PVP options as an Ground Imperial Freelance Pilot. I'm a little confused. If i become Special Forces on the ground, where would i have to go to engage Rebel Pilots in PVP? Kessel System only? I'm reading that we cannot get into deep space. Is that limited to Rebel and Imperial Pilots? And if that is so, will there be plans to implement Freelance Pilots? Hmmm, more than one question . Thank you for your time.

Yes, its tough to explain well, but:

You will get your first xp gain (1+1 xp) after mastering a squad in any faction, so

  1. Master 1 rebel squad and you get 2X xp

  2. Master all 3 rebel squad and you get 2X xp

  3. Master 1 rebel squad and 1 Privateer squad you get 3X xp

  4. Master all 3 rebel squads and 3 Privateer squads and you get 3X xp

  5. Master 1 rebel 1 Privateer and 1 Imperial squad and you get 4X xp

Clear as mud???
