Just to try to help keep everyone up to date and the new faction changes:

  • Ground Civilian can ONLY be Privateer pilot

  • Ground Imperial can be Imperial or Privateer pilots

  • Ground Rebel can be Rebel or Privateer pilots

Changes to your current faction for neutral ground - factional pilots:

  • If you were a Neutral ground & Rebel or Imperial Pilot you will now be factionally alligned with the ground faction to go along with your space faction.

  • You will be a "combatant" when you log-in. [Patch change- After first death you will be set to "on-leave" automaticly]

  • You are NOT open to PvP unless you choose to go spec-forces.

  • If you do not wish to be attacked on sight by opposing NPC's you must go "on-leave" from the nearest of your faction recruiters.

If you choose to switch sides (or go true neutral):

  1. Please unload and redeed all your ships first.

  2. Go see the Recruiter for your pilots faction:
Rebel: Recruiter Location: J'pai Brek (-5072, -2343) Tyrena, Corellia
Imperial: Recruiter Location: Commander Landau (-5516,4403) Theed, Naboo
Freelancer: Recruiter Location: Gil Burtin (-1174, -3647) Bestine, Tatooine

  3. "Resign" from your current pilots faction.

  4. Then go to see a faction recruiter (if needed) to quit your ground-based faction.
[You must be a combatant and not "on leave" to resign from a ground faction]

  5. You will get the standard "previous master bonus" of [XP * (1+the number of previous FACTIONAL masters)] if you previously had mastered a pilot squad in any of the factions. My understanding is you get 1+ for doing a single squad in any different faction. For a total of 3x+1 bonus (Rebel, Imperial, Privateer). You do not get a bonus for each squad but rather for completing any of the 3 squads in 1 faction. If you complete multiple squads in one faction you do not get a bonus. (I have yet to verify this myself, but I will on my next round)

  6. If you are switching factions you will need to work off any negative faction you have in your newly chosen side before you can start on pilot.

  7. You will need to start over with your new pilot profession from scratch. All XP and prestige will be set to zero when you "resign" your pilots skills.

If I am incorrect on any of this [or as things get "patched" for changes] please let me know.......

OK, just for clarification, what does item # 5 there mean? If I, as an Inquisitors Ace Imperial Pilot, were to, hypothetically want to become a Privateer, what is the exp bonus? Does this mean I get more exp per kill when I start over, so that it goes up quicker? Thanks!

Yes, yes and oo btw yes.

So 2X after your first master 3X after your second and so on....

Makes a much faster trip up the pilot tree. BUT remember this is only if you fully master a pilot profession "credit you will receive"

Any news on the TEF status in space? Looks like we still need to be 'overt' before we can gain faction points in space, where as the ground game players are PvP protected and can still gain FP from factioned kills..

Just seems a little inconsistant to me..

It was inconsistant. They changed ground based PvP, but did nothing for faction pilots except to make it harder for us on ground. That is why I quit factions as soon as patch was in. Tried to do a mission and not only did I have to kill cpl easy stormtroopers but I ended up getting attacked by several insta-death troopers along with a few others (full squad on patrol). Not to mntion alot of mobs that I had to avoid or try to.

Its not PvP, PvE but rather PvD (Player vs Death), Now im neutral including piloting.

Eesh, this wasn't even in the patch notes. I know some people wont be happy about this.
Good thing I'm a Rebel on the ground and in space.

I know that one of my friends on Tarquinas is very upset about this. He is just a casual gmer and doesnt read the forums. He used to be Rebel Vortex pilot 4433. however, after he got killed in Theed (for being made combatant without notice, thanks a lot) he went "on leave". He then wanted to continue his space mission, but couldnt enter the rebel base in Dant due to his on leave status. I highly suggest, that all pilot trainers are made available to all rebel pilots, regardless of their GCW status. Because he didnt know about the new change that neutral ground players can't fly for a faction, he tried to sneak around the on leave thing by going neutral. Needless to say, he lost everything now and is not happy at all.

More thourough information would have been grand. you can't expect everyone to read the forums, 24/7, especially when this thread was posted 4 hours after he lost all his pilot skills. No offense or flame intended but this was a major F up. And I bet there are loads more who didn't know and are facing the same problems now. Please, if you can, convince the devs to make the pilot trainers (all of them, imperial trainers in the retreat as well) accessible regardless on CGW status.

Thanks

I had to give up months of flight time and 3/3/2/2 as an alliance pilotwhen I wanted to withdraw from the ground forces. Pretty lame that I could join the alliance as a pilot in the begining being neutral, picking up the ground part to see the trainers on Dant, and have to lose everything because I no longer wanted to be load killed or shot at while performing. Going on leave does not ensure your safety. I got scanned and almost killed while playing music in a cantina. So I had to give up everything I invested in as a pilot to start over as a Freelance Pilot.

Ihave a question on this. Lets suppose that some one wanted to do all the squadrons you start imperial and do those three then drop imperial and go do the neutrals. Then you go to drop neutral and go rebel but at this point your -5k rebel faction. If you speak to the rebel pilot recruiter will your negative faction just go away or will you not even be able to talk to them?

yes, he lost everything...when he went neutral, he lost all his piloting skills, because he wasnt rebel anymore. As stated in the original post:

Leaving rebel ground forces automatically meant resigning rebel pilot.

Overt flagging in space or rather, the change of it, i think will have to depend on faction point rewards. That is to say, if i can gain a disporportionally LARGE amounts of faction points in a relatively short period of time as compared to the ground game, then that reward should involve some risk.

That said, if the number of faction points you can aquire on the ground is equal to or greater than space, then i would support removing the overt PvP enabling system in space as well.

Its unfortunate that this is happening here and there without more players having all the fact they need to make the choice. I have been the pilot's corro for under 2 weeks and have tried to keep a sticky going on this issue since about day 3 for me. Including a mirror post of this in the JTL boards.

You will need to work off the neg faction as you always have.....

According to responses in a thread in made in the GCW forum, average FP's per kill is 15.

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=GCW&message.id=314421

FIFTEEN.

Thats pityful compared to space. If this being the case. I think Sony should leave the overt system EXACTLY how it is now.

The kind of FP's we reap in space is sick compared to ground (49-60 per kill). Rewards that large need a risk.

If space FP gain is to mimic ground, then they'll have to drop the FP's we receive per kill.

Personnaly, id rather run the risk of being vaped then grind 15 pts per kill.
