OK, two questions.

1. How do I do overloads? I still haven't figured this out, please enlighten me.

2. What is this new heavy TIE fighter that everyone speaks of? Is it the Tie/In or something different? At which tier do you get certified for it?

Do a search and check the faqs here and in the Pilot forum for overload info and how to set up a computer. The first time through it's confusing, but tinker with it a bit and you'll pick it up quickly.

RotW introduced three new ships at Tier 1 - basically higher mass variants of ships we already had. Now we have heavy TIEs, z-95s, and Sycks. 90 some odd mass, I think, and they turn on a dime. For rebels and freelance pilots this isn't a huge bonus, but for Imperials who have always been so limited on mass, it's very useful. Talk to your local shipwright for one.

The fourth Inquisition T3 mission is tough, but doable. Watch gunboats and turrets and you'll notice things, like blindspots and tracking times. I got this on my first try, although I had previously helped someone else so I knew what was coming.

I flew my heavy TIE (big surprise) and made head to head passes at it, never staying still. Each pass I launched one proton missile as well as squeezed off a few shots, then boosted away while the gunboat had to turn to follow me. I took little damage each time (and did little, to be fair) but eventually took out the ship's engines. Fun mission, I like fights like that.

I agree with you, the Tier 3 imp quest is "rediculously impossible" When i tried to do it today, i brought a 4444 pilot. We fought for over 2hr doing this quest nonstop, only for me to be killed my these tier 4 swarm agrows. I completely agree with your post finkstar and belive that this quest should be reformed.

yes ..its very hard to find sameone ..in ground is hard how u can find space??.... i can understant same missions in ground ( like new avater quests or jedi only quests) but pilot diffrent its profesion>> its not reword quest...

It's been mentioned, but one cannot overstate the importance of hyperspace when soloing missions.

Thanks to my hyperdrive I was able to solo all but maybe 3 of the Storm Squad missions.

There are 2 important hyperspace times:

1. In between mission segments

2. During heavy fighting

For (1), this usually occurs during the segways. Like you're escorting something, it hypers out, and all of a sudden all 20 ships that were attacking it are now attacking you. You get blown up, which causes you to fail the next part of the mission and you now have to start over.

I try to remember where the escorted ship hypers out and when we get near, I start to back off from it and only engage straggling attackers. I also preset my hyper screen to take me to another sector (in the same quadrant).

The second the escort ships hypers out, I turn a quick 180, punch the throttle, hit the boosters, and activate the hyperdrive. Repeat booster usage every now and then for short bursts of speed after it's drained. 99% of the time, I'm able to get away in time.

For (2), this only works on some missions. Escort missions don't seem to work well because you have to stay within a click or two or the escort. Other missions, though, are more friendly about this.

If I'm taking a beating and it's a mission I can leave (like a destroy mission), I'll hyper to the zone closest to a space station, get repaired, then fly back for more action. When doing this, just make sure you do it before you're at the point of no return.

If you're destruction is imminent, it's probably too late to hyper out. I wait until I'm losing pretty badly before I hyper out for repairs.

Some missions have required that I hyper out for repairs up to 4 times.

Just remember to stay in the system when hypering... otherwise you'll auto-fail.

PS. Droid commands are your friend. Reactor/Weapon/Capacitor overload 3 are standard items as well as Cap to Shield shunt 3 (or 4 if you can fit it).

PPS. Bstrike is amazingly useful. The damage from those bombers is ok-ish, but they take quite a beating and they're awesome from drawing fire from large ships (gunships, novas, the vette, YTs, etc) away from you.

My 90k mass heavy Z-95 just isn't cutting it. Last night I finished putting together a 180k mass heavy x-wing. Battle tested it and it vaporizes Tier 4 Black Suns in a half a second.

Maybe now I'll be able to take on that on that horrible Tie-Aggressor?

i thought the exact same thing. the aggressor is so much more manuverable you get 1, maybe 2 shots off before it's gone. i have better luck with my heavy Z against these. on the other hand, i didn't finish the weapons on the X-Wing so once i get a few more level 8's to RE that could possibly change.

After playing this game for over a year, I am about to cancel my subscription.

When I first started SWG, I could jump in, play solo for around 10-40 mins, gainsome XP, which lead to some trainingand advancement. I could also choose to break off from the game easily, at anytime, without much loss to my longer term position.

After playing JTL now for around6 months, I have concluded that the imperial missions have been made almostimpossible to complete unless you are prepared to commit 2-3 HOURS each attempt and even then, after I have achieved nearly 1m expereince points, I still can't complete the damn mission and therfore get the training that would allow me to move on to a better ship. The worst thing is having to play for hours then restart again and again after every failure.

I have tricked out my current ship with every combination of engine/shields/armour/weapons possible at my current level, and it's now becoming really obvious that I will not complete these missions without getting help from a group of others. I have a busy life outside this game. I didn't subscribe originally to spend so much of my time stuck in such a frustrating grind. (God, Mastering Doctor was bad enough!)

I'm not being anti-social, however, I just don't want to commit someone else to helping me on such a long mission, when I don't know if I will be able to see it through to the end. Why could't they continue to allow solo players to be able to play this game in the style of the past? I think SWG and JTL has just gotton much too serious, it's meant to be entertainment after all. Isn't it?

Anyhow, unless the "forget the xp and you have to complete our impossible mission, before you advance" style of play is modified, I will be going back to Half-life/CounterStrike.

Just to state this again - I have yet to find a mission in JTL that isn't soloable. Period. And I'm not the only pilot capable of handlign them alone.

JTL is a twitch based game, requiring skill and not macros. Nothing wrong with not having the skill, but if you can't handle the missions solo you'd better get used to having a wingman. Don't worry about the time it takes, it's the same for everyone. Get their help with your mission, then fly theirs. Or vice versa.

So far I've been able to solo every mission in SS up to 3322, but i think where I am stuck now has more to do with a bug than myself. My mission requires that I destroy 4 waves of fighters as I escort an Imperial vessel, which is no proglem at all. Unfortunatly, I was on about the 10th wave of fighters without credit before I realized this prob wasn't going to work.

I've flown some of my missions with guildies but I always seem to actually succede in them solo for some reason. SS 3322 is either too hard or too bugged to do solo, and its been 2 weeks since i've been in space now because of it.

I have the exact same problem. I killed wave after wave after wave but in the end I got mission failed cause I "killed to few rebels". Is this quest bugged or am I doing something wrong?

I dont know about SS missions, but at least Black Epsilon missions have been very hard in tier 3. First one was still soloable (barely) but 2nd, 3rd and especially 4th mission (the kathharian Queen or something like that)were impossible to solo.

In the 4th tier 3 mission I had 2 elite pilots and 1 tier 4 pilot to help me and still the rebel assault boat proved to be very toughopponent. To finish this mission i basically had to stay away from the battle and let the other pilots destroy it.

I am just starting the tier 4 and i really hope that it is, as my guildies say, easier that tier 3.

I was helping an Imp pilot guildie with one of his tier 3 missions last night, it is crazy! I'm a 4433 CorSec Pilot, so I was taking things out left and right, but I still had trouble keeping all of them off him. He had to go to the closest station for repairs several times. The one spot with about 12 tier 3's and 4's was insane. I was fine, but he got a little cooked....
