Thread: Tie's have no hyperdrive

If they put a carrier ship somewhere in zone the devs can say that TIEs don't have hyperdrive... they just use the carriers... other than that they could say some TIEs were better than others... IE the player craftable TIEs have to be better than the NPC ones without drives

Okay you all see where it says SERVE THE GALACTIC EMPIRE!!! Now why do you think it says that... because you guys SERVE THE EMPIRE!!!! In space you are always Overt because you are fighting for a cause... no more just being a Imperial Sypathiser... you will become a soldier the second u go up into space! That means you get what the EMperor issues you... YOUR TIE FIGHTERS... AND HE ISNT ISSUING ANY EXTRA SHIELDS OR HYPERDRIVES!!!! Personally i think guys should get the Tie Fighters for free... but whatever... DONT YOU GET IT YOU ARE IMPERIALS!! NOW ITS TIME TO LOOK LIKE THEM YOUV HAD THE ADVANTAGES TIME FOR THE DISIDVANTAGES

i can see the TIE Advanced having hyperdrive systems and shields...because they did, but in trun for that they lost manuverabality(sp?), but were slightly faster, adn alot more expensive. These ships should be on par with X-Wings, they were in moderate disturbution(sp?) and were cast aside for the TIE Interceptor. TIE's were made to outfly other ships, and even without shields were still considered deadly, their abality to fly circles around any ship gave them a clear advantage in battle. i'm all for TIE's lacking hyperdrive/shield systems.

If it were up to me, I'd have it like this: Get rid of the hyperspace points entirely. Have a certain distance from the planets that ships must reach before being able to jump to lightspeed. But in order to jump, they first have to plot the coordinates, which takes time (just like in the movies). This could be realized with a simple 15 second timer after the command to jump is given. To balance it out on the Imp side, you give Imperials the exclusive ability to "track" hyperspace jumps (provided they've paid into that skill, of course). This way, Rebels stand a chance of escaping. But Imperials in turn stand a chance of tracking them, making it to the Imp transport ship, and chasing them down.
I love this idea from Zal. Probably one of the greatest I've heard. With maybe one or 2 exceptions, there should be no need to go to a set point in space to jump. This will keep that one section of
every space-zone from bogging down since everyone is going to cluster there often. (Have you seen the spaceports?)

In the books ( the rogue squadren series, book 4) the gand's hadmodified tie bombers that had hyperdrives. All players have modified TIEs. Also, although never a playable craft, there are TIE scouts that have hyperdrives. They just don't come stock with them.

Agree continuity should be maintained. No hyperdrives or shields for TIE Fighters. Advanced are different.

I am going to have to go back and look at this, but the Gand fighters were heavily modified outside of just having hyperdrives added weren't they? Didn't they have an extra wing? Like I said I will check on that tonight.

They were heavily modified and the wings were cut up to look more like TIE intercepters. My point was that a TIE can have a hyperdrive mounted to them.
