It would be obvious that the guy in the TIE is an Imperial, the guy in the A-wing is a rebel, but the people in the B-wings (A mon-calamari ship, not specifically a rebel ship) or the YT-1300 could be anyone.

the b-wing is a rebel ship is was built by adminrarl ackbar(sp) and some vespines ,becouse the alliance needed a heavy assault starfighters that could take down star destory and other captial ships

please dev instead of a load screen give us a cutscreen showing the ship taking off

Actually the B-wing is a rebel fighter. Captain Ackbar(current rank in this game) created the ship. You were right about the YT-1300 but i think all proffessions will be able to use one but remeber that you are allowed to have basic and reb if your rebel but you cant have reb ad imp if your reb cause your faction isnt imp.

Awesome info. Once some of those post-launch features come in, the SE will be a dream come true (PLEASE let us dock with other ships, ie. land and get off them to raid them, as well as take off from them).

I asked about this in another thread, but what I've been wondering with respect to JTL is if it will be designed to natively support IR Tracking Devices.

From everything I've read so far - it looks like most gamepads, and even the high end CH Flightsticks are going to be supported - which is definitely a good thing - but what about IR tracking?

Sure would be nice to look around in my cockpit, or track targets by way of a supported IR tracking device - I'm sure any other flight sim fans would agree.

A lot of games, merely depend upon mapping keystrokes for specific views to an IR device - as opposed to natively supporting them.

Has this even been given any thought?

Thanks

WELL I HAVE THE TOPPER!

WHEN WILL THESE QUESTIONS BE ANSWERED?

MOST OF THESE QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ASKED AND ASKED OVER AND OVER AGAIN, BELIEVE ME IVE READ 11 OF THE 12 PAGES.

better question is when people will read the answers already given.

1) there are three varients of the YT-1300

one rebel. one imperial, one neutral

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Ahazi&message.id=278948#M278948

Currently, there arethree versions of theYT-1300, one neutral, one rebel and one imperial.

2) Pilot professions are exclusive

so you can not be neutral and imperial pilots but you may have similar ships - see above

2. At the moment the Pilot professions do not take basic skill points to learn.
Our core philosophy is "We don't want you to give up a current skill to become a pilot." We haven't worked out the details of skill points for the piloting professions, but we'll either be using a different type of skill point or give you one piloting profession for free (they are all exclusive - you can't be both a Rebel Pilot and an Imperial pilot). Shipwright may require current skill points since, technically, you can be a shipwright without ever leaving a planet.

Right now, this has nothing to do with skill points. We're making each piloting profession exclusive - i.e., you can't be both a Privateer and a Rebel pilot. We did this so we could have unique craft available to those players who progress to the top tiers in each profession without unbalancing space combat. We also did it so that the story-driven mission arcs have more resonance. With all that said, the Privateer missions are likely to pit you against all sorts of enemies, including (potentially) Rebels and Imperials

3) You Can name your ship.

4) You will not be able to fly with someone in their yt-1300 without the expansion JTLS

again just a guess but read the following

Just to clear it up, you don't have to get Jump to Lightspeed to continue playing SWG (though you won't be able to access things such as flying space ships and playing the new professions if you don't). Each account requires a unique CD key to be enabled for JTL

Thel-Tanis:
"Is it me? Or does it seem like the ships move entirely too slow in space? it looks they are going like 5mph around a Corvette in one scene fighting, thats not what i call fast paced."

You should consider that even a corvette is a huge space object ( I think its like 150 meters) so the fighters might appear to go slower than they actualy are.

In dogfights, since 2 fighters in space are both moving at almost the same speed, with not much relative movement compared to each other, it might too, create the illusion of slow movement.

Besides the space battles in the classics (episode 4-6) were somehow slower paced than what we saw in ep1 and 2.

Anyways I think the movement seems to be ok from what footage I have seen so far.

Okay thanks for the very sweet info and stuff. But there is one thing still on my mind. Will you implement some kind of character server transfer BEFORE(or do you even plan to do so some day)se goes live? Sincese isgoing to be a twitchy game, I can imagine the ping will become much more important in pvp andmany european players stuckwith their main on gorath(an other servers)atm would def. like to switch to a server closer to their home.

All sounds great, I'm really looking forward to it.

My only concern is the overt/covert thing with the skill trees being factioned. I understandrestricting ships tospecifictrees (you don't want Imps in X-Wings, rebelsin Ties). That makes sense. But if all ships in that tree are overt all the time, that could be a real pain!I enjoy doing missions with my Guild (imperial), and really looking forward to being able to have an Imp sqadron of Ties. But if every ship on that tree is overt, it's going to be a nightmare flying on your own!I have no problem with being overt if i'm in a TIE, x-Wing etc...and I feel that should be the case, but if your in a non faction ship (like a YT-1300), you should be able to be covert.

Which brings me to myother point. If the only multi-player carrying ship is in the Privateer tree, there are going to be a load of people going for that tree, purely for that ship, which does the GCW no good whatsoever.

So, the questions are:

1. Will the YT-1300 be available to all factions?

2.Will some 'non-aligned' ships be able toall trees?

3. Will we be able to be covert if in a 'non-aligned' ship, regardless of faction?

Thanks

So no one has a problem that rebels will be basically using X-Wings to fly in and out of Imperial controlled starports? The rebel factional ships should be able to be taken out anywhere and should be specifically banned from Starports. It's not like a rebel would be asking Theed for clearence to land.
"I just finished killing 20 TIE fighters and escaped from 3 Imperial Star Destroyers, let me just go ahead and land in Theed Starport here." Sounds a little stupid doesn't it?

And devs, if you are going ahead with letting rebel ships fly in and out of everywhere, then after we land and our space TEF goes away, you need to give us Rebels a ground based regular TEF, simply because by all rights we should be DOA in a starport.

Quick question on the control setup. Admittedly I didn't skim the rest of the topic to see if htis was answered but how 'real' will the controls be? Is the setup something similar to the X-wing series? Will th eplayer be given a HUD to help manage data? In the case of multi-person ships can someone help share the workload outside of turrets? (Chewie wasn't just there to attract the ladies afterall). And last but not least, can I stick a suction cup garfield or something similar to onein the canopy of my starfighter?

- I support a rollback and keeping & balancing the old combat system.
