well if they prevented non-ch from using them in combat then sure ill accept them having lvl 15s so they can have decent sized mounts. however i dont think its right for them to use a weapon they arent qualified for in combat. and yes i do have an alt and yes it does have lvl 10s but i never use them in combat. both are strictly mounts. if they want to use better pets in combat then they need to become CHs. whats the point of being a CH if every joe schemo can use a pet? i tolerate the lvl 10s because mounts area part of SW but there was a time where only CHs could use pets. and thats the way it should be except for mounts
WRONG!!!!
The game from the beginning allowed Non-CH's to use pets. In fact when the game first came out a Non-CH could have up to a level 15 pet. This would just be restoring that mechanic back into the game. the ONLY reason that Non-CH's were restricted to level 10 only was because BE's could make super level 15's that were as powerful as a level 70 pet!!
That is no longer the case and with the BE situation of only 2 of the pets they make grow to mount trainable size allowing Non-CH level 15 now makes sense.
I say do it!

I feel like level 10 is fairly low for non-CH, especially considering that new combat droids are what... Level 30?
On the other hand, I feel like droids should be seen all the time, "don't leave home without one"; whereas combat-ready pets should be more rare. Really they just need to fix it so that BEs can, if they choose to do so, keep pets at "natural" size regardless of level to fix the current CL-linked size issues.

i agree with LecheHombre that bios should get the choice to make natural, small or large pets. a size slider like they do for people would be great
and i thought for sure at the very begining there were no pets other then CH. they then allowed non-ch to control lvl 15s because there were so many people going CH for the extra damage. i could be wrong though after 2 years my brain gets fuzzy on these kind of things lol
but the reason why they dropped the CL was not because BElvl 15s were too strong. if that was true they would have nerfed the lvl 10s that had 10k ham way before the CU. they dropped it because they thought it wasnt right that a novice got no bonus for the skill points they used to get it. both novice ch and non-ch could use the same CL pets

Sorry, you are the one that is wrong. There was a period when non-handlers could not use pets. They were given CL 15 pet use in one of the early publishes (August 12, 2003 to be exact).
There were natural CL 15 pets that had unbalanced stats, such as the dalyrake harvester (75% kinetic) or rock beetles (AR 1, ~15% kinetic). These and other creatures were determined to be too much, they were lowered. The insane CL 10s from BEs came later. Their new system was not even in the game for another six months and it took a while before people knew how to make these, by which point the non-handler reduction had already occurred.

This is what I mean...Most pets are generic now... Same Level same stats.... BE can't really make anything good anymore thats lower then level 20 because it eather hurts the Health for high damage or the Damage for high health, and the defense rating is still low. Now if they increased Non-Ch to the use of the level 15 pets and Made Novice CH the same BUT able to CONTROL and TRAIN and TEACH thier pets like a CH, I think that is more fair. Also givin this they should also raise our Max level or pets to like 80 or something cough cough.. but hey. I just Think that this was a good idea cause pets actually make a diferance in hunting groups now. Soloing is soo hard and I know alot of people miss it, I do, and when your alt or you are not a CH, you still wanna be able to use a pet for a little support.Like I said, they arnt vicous, they can grow to mount size BE, the non-ch can't train em or make them grow themselves anymore....................
I think its only fair, and that you guys are being selfish, share the love of CH with those who don'thave patience or don't have enough points to be CH as well.

just because we dont agree with you doesnt make us selfish. you are the one who asked us our opinion. you need to respect other peoples ideas. we are all CH's and some have just as much experience if not more then you. a good non-ch should be able to keep a lvl 10 alive period. 5 lvls really isnt going to help much except for the bio mount size problem. you wont win anyone over being rude to the fellow people in your profession

How many people use an advanced laser rifle who don't have any rifle and or marksman. There are al lot of weapons out there that all you need is a combat level. So how about we do this if you have cl of 54 you can use a cl15 pet. if you are under cl54 u can use up to cl10 pet.

I still think your selfish... I thought you said respect other peoples opinions?
Instead of making fun of noobs, I like to help them out.. and I am sorry that trying to be fair is a wrong thing... I just cant understand why you dont agree the slightest bit or have maybe ideas...??? It baffles me. And BTW I doubt you have more Creature knowledge then me .

Yeah something like that would work as well too, this way like a noob just cant grab a level 15 pet from the start and level fast.

/flame on
Ok lets get one thing out of the way flame all you like! I am not a veteran SWG member, i have been playing the game since a couple of weeks after CU, i fell in love with the CH profession andchose to spend the skill points so i can earn better pets, new skills etc.In gaining MCH i had to again chose where i wanted my other skill points allocated to. This is not a free ride, you have to invest your points in the skills you want. Making Non-CH be able to control cl15 pets would make a MOCKERY of our profession. I want medic skills but i chose to go MBH with pistoleer, you don't see me crying about not being able to heal myself and my pets with area heals and demand skills from novice medic! You want to have pets above cl10 get novice creature handler! Controlling pets should be a privaledge to those that invest the time, effort and more importantly required skill points in ch., whether you choose to master it or not. As for CL10 pets being less useful to non-ch than say a CL15, i disagree i actually think since Publish 22non-ch are already getting a sweeter deal now we are able to grind these level pets for them and equip them with 4-5 specials, such as states they wouldn't ordinarily be able to use in their mastery. A cynical person might be thinking you just want a particular pet to use which is higher than cl10 but less than 15, well too bad.Are you trying to gimp our profession? You love pets im sure, butthat's what your MCH alt is for. Non-CH pets were only ever supposed to be a novelty for non-ch players so they can have fun, mount and gain a little extra help in combat if used correctly. Why should they get our privaledges of investing in the profession in the first place. Grow up dude and quit your whining!!
I'm sorry if I offend it's not a personal attack, honest
i just strongly disagree with your opinion. I love our profession and would never want to see it suffer, which is what it would do if this pipedream of yours ever came to be.

I would be happy to see them add a CL system for pets based on a combination of the pet's CL and any added abilities. It would let us provide other players with pets, but we would have to tame, level and train them with their abilities. It would create a new market that would let CHs become pet developers if they chose and not just merely another combat class with strange weapons. I don't see it as being all that much different than being able to use a CL30 Combat Droid, or a CL54 Rifle. I don't think we should be able to hand out Rancors mind you, but a range of pets higher than CL10 might be well received and practical. Giving non-CH the ability to control 1 pet up to CL30 (with no abilities) or say CL20 with 2 abilities (at 5 CL each or some similiar system) might create a new and useful market that would be enjoyable to see come into being.

Yes, you can USE a weapon as long as you have the right level. But that doesn't mean your going to be good with it. Unless you have some skills in the elite profession or at the very least the novice boxes for that weapon, there's really no point in you using it because you won't be able to do anything useful with it.
A pet doesn't work that way. A pet of the same CL is just as effective whether it is being used by a CH or by a non-CH, as long as its trained up beforehand.
