Tens of thousands of people were hoping to fly in an Imperial Star Destroyer. Or to shoot at one. I know, I know, 'You can shoot at an NPC controlled one though...'







Don't you think that would be a bit, uhhh, imbalancing? If everyone were able to fly SDs, how many people do you think would want to own anything else? How many people run around with CDEF rifles and how many migrate to T21s?


I hope capital ships are never player controlled. I think it would be fun, but the game as a whole would suffer and become an SD shooting match.

did you use the toy models as refrence for the x-wing and yt-1300 transport or something


they dont look right


the cocpit on the yt1300 is waaaaaay to big

Oh, but flying capital ships would be so much fun... i mean... you do all these exciting things like fly straight, take 3 minutes to fully turn, etc...


i cant wait until the SE, but if i dont get to fly a ship that basically flies like a gigantic rock, i dont want any part of it...





come on people, flying a capital ship wouldnt add anything to the gameplay, controlling some of the guns would be a kick, and everyone would love the ability to walk around on one, but other than that it would be pretty boring.

Anyone that thinks it should not be twitched based should try playing eve-online. There is a reason that game has always been unpopular

Ok, first of all, A-Wings should not be included in the expansion. Why? Because at this point in time they weren't even in R&D. If I remember correctly, Admiral Acbar and...some general were in need of a ship that could be on par with the Imperial TIE Interceptor (which shouldn't be in there either). Both of these ships didn't show up until arounduntil: the battle of Hoth (in the TIE interceptor's case), and just before the battle of Endor (A-Wing).


I do hope that on the larger ships, we will be able to carry passengers. And while not in combat or 'docked'

we will be able to roam the ship freely. Maybe this could be implemented on the ground as well? Kind of away to live out of your ship, like most of us would want to do.


I think the whole space expansion development team should take a hint from Freelancer instead of making this an XvT clone. Make the ships modifiable so that way not everyone's ship will be quite the same. Maybe this can be implemented in a 'shipbuilder class'? They could make the parts, etc as well as the ships themselves. It should probably be an 'elite class' requiring the existing Engineering line.


Oh...and do something about the name.


Other than that...looks good.

well, the tie interceptor could still technically be in. we are still in between ANH and ESB in the timeline, maybe its getting a little closer to the battle of hoth.

The screen shots look great!


Just a little warning to the Devs, I see a YT-1300 Transport from Corellian Engineering Systems in several of the screenshots. It better be a player craftable, player flyable ship or I will quit in protest! I've been waiting since Beta 1 to fly one and I only have so much patience.

one question i have, not sure if its been answered yet as i diddnt want to read 12 pages to find it if any of the dev's would answer i'm sure many of us would be interested.


The new expansion looks great, xwing vs tie fighter online is exactly what i wanted it to be, if it turns out like that i will be overjoyed, the one thing i want to know is about the controls, be we use a joystick? I personally hated freelancer because it made you use the mouse. SPACE FLIGHT COMBAT NEEDS A JOYSTICK!!!

For those worried about the fact that the MF style ship could be player crafted the only thing i can think of is that theyll make it REALLY poor manouverabilityand slow so nobody would want to fly one any

I'm interested to know if we'll be able to extend mining operations into space.

We've got gas giants, nebula, asteroids, and of course: solar energy!

Really not looking forward to the whole twitchy experiance. That is not a MMRPG in my opinion....


I enjoy the combat system of SWG without having to worry about lag, poor connections etc etc...
