I do not support you petition! But, I am not flaming just voicing my opinion!
It's kinda besides the point, though, as there are 2 different dev teams working on SWG who are totally seperate from each other - content devs and game engine devs. Delaying the expansion (which must already be completed by now anyway) won't speed up the CU.

As far as the original poster goes, i think folks need to get used to this type of expansion cuz its probably what most all of them will be from here on out. JTL was an exception. I think this wook expansion is going to be a great addition and players will enjoy it. Im sure it will do well, few would voluntarily deny themselves to an entirely new planet ingame, not to mention all the new JTL stuff this will have. And we dont even have a comprehensive list of features yet. Its gonna rock

Im all for another expansion and more content. anything that adds to the game is good. But im just wondering if anyone has considered brand new players. When the new expansion comes out, new players will have to purchace 3 seperate things, the original SWG package, JTL and the Range of the wookies just to be completly up to speed.Had I not been playing all along theres no way I would jump into this game now having to buy all 3 parts. I have friends who Ive been trying to convert to SWG from other online games And when I mention buying the gameAND the JTL package they are like " you gotta buy 2 parts? f#@k that!"3 parts will be even worse! Anyway, I have no problem spending money on a 3rd expansion cause i dont have to buy them all at once, but I bet alot of people will! Just my 2 cents, for what its worth.
I do have some food for thought in that respect.....the different MOH expansions. Yes, they had single player content, and that drove the expansion purchase, but I did fork out the money for all three programs at once when I decided to get it. Just something to think about....its not a stretch IF the expansions are enticing enough and reasonable in price.

Ok, first, this is not a request to delay the CU. That has been long in coming and needs to come on schedule. This is a petition to delay the upcoming expansion "Rage of the Wookies" untill better, more engaging content can be added. I am suggesting a delay for the following reasons.
1) Resources dedicated to the expansion. If an expansion flops due to the fact that it does not have content that would encourage either a new player or a veteran to purchase it, it could dissuade the developers from earmarking resources to create another expansion in the near future. This would be devestating to the game as a whole. If we are to have longevity in this game, it has to offer fresh and enticing content on a regular basis. It is my belief, from what I have read of this expansion, that this addon does not posess that kind of appeal.
2) Broad market appeal. JTL represented a huge appealing upgrade to the game, but a single planet based on wookies does not hold the same appeal (no offense to wookies intended of course). Now, I see some other goodies like cybernetic arms, mining in space and jedi fighters, but I still fail to see how this would pose a product that is going to grab wide market appeal. If you wanted to pull in non-swg gamers, you would have to add more planets and/or ships, and veterans would need more toys.....but that is another topic. For now, I will let you guys make the suggestions. I am just stating how I feel about the current product.
3) Lack of content and flexibility in current expansion. This is a biggie. The appeal of JTL could be increased with this expansion by adding access to space stations, large ships (Like a Nebulon-B and a Star Destroyer), and adding much larger ships that can be controlled by players (Like corellian corvettes, victory class or carrak class ships for Imperials, etc.). and adding in some pre-ESB content, like begining constructions of the new death star, or the planets Hoth and Corusant. Remember, it is possible to restrict access to planets and also restrict roaming on the planets, so it would not be impossible to add them. I will give suggestions later.
So to sum all this up, this expansion needs more to appeal to the market, and I think it needs to be delayed until such time as it can be brought up on par with an expansion like JTL.
Comments and suggestions welcome. I have also emailed the developers about this.
Lol, sorry......
They have only announced, wait one sec. They haven't announced ANYTHING yet. All we know is 2 ships 1 planet and 1 space sector. You don't think they put EVERY thing thats gonna be in it on the website in the 1st day do you?
1. this expansion IS content! As a matter of fact we are gonna see somethings in game that will be in episode III before the movie even comes out (weeks before), so that = content.
Ohh, heres how they grab market appeal. Its comming out right before the movie (all starwars fans are waiting on this movie). And also with any MMORPG, the thing is yes you can play the game without all the expansions, but why would you want too? And they are about to produce a new "gold" edition, with all 3 in it.
Hey, Im not saying the world is made out of roses..... LOL im a 1.5 year Smuggler. Just that this years gonna be a good year for us (and maybe Smugglers too).

It has been been stated by the Dev's that there will be a small group whos role is to work on expansions at all times. Its the nature of the beast for MMO's. But they did add a good number of new programmers so I think the "expasion team" has little impact on the core developement team whos numbers have also increased.

Very true. Meshing the 2 and adding space was an undertaking that we will probably not see again. We now have 2 systems in place, 1 for ground and 1 for space. I would guess that most any future expansion would build on these 2 systems. (Just taking a guess, no official or inside info went into the composing of this comment)
