Ok, first, this is not a request to delay the CU. That has been long in coming and needs to come on schedule. This is a petition to delay the upcoming expansion "Rage of the Wookies" untill better, more engaging content can be added. I am suggesting a delay for the following reasons.
1) Resources dedicated to the expansion. If an expansion flops due to the fact that it does not have content that would encourage either a new player or a veteran to purchase it, it could dissuade the developers from earmarking resources to create another expansion in the near future. This would be devestating to the game as a whole. If we are to have longevity in this game, it has to offer fresh and enticing content on a regular basis. It is my belief, from what I have read of this expansion, that this addon does not posess that kind of appeal.
2) Broad market appeal. JTL represented a huge appealing upgrade to the game, but a single planet based on wookies does not hold the same appeal (no offense to wookies intended of course). Now, I see some other goodies like cybernetic arms, mining in space and jedi fighters, but I still fail to see how this would pose a product that is going to grab wide market appeal. If you wanted to pull in non-swg gamers, you would have to add more planets and/or ships, and veterans would need more toys.....but that is another topic. For now, I will let you guys make the suggestions. I am just stating how I feel about the current product.
3) Lack of content and flexibility in current expansion. This is a biggie. The appeal of JTL could be increased with this expansion by adding access to space stations, large ships (Like a Nebulon-B and a Star Destroyer), and adding much larger ships that can be controlled by players (Like corellian corvettes, victory class or carrak class ships for Imperials, etc.). and adding in some pre-ESB content, like begining constructions of the new death star, or the planets Hoth and Corusant. Remember, it is possible to restrict access to planets and also restrict roaming on the planets, so it would not be impossible to add them. I will give suggestions later.
So to sum all this up, this expansion needs more to appeal to the market, and I think it needs to be delayed until such time as it can be brought up on par with an expansion like JTL.
Comments and suggestions welcome. I have also emailed the developers about this.

1) There will be future expansions no doubt even if this flops...plus theres a whole other team thats been working on it. So the CU team has been relatively untouched. Resources isn't an issue here, as its not like they just announced it went into development...Im more concerned if testing will delay the CU tho
2) A la Ep III...who doesn't like wookiees? Very broad appeal with those guys...they're practically Iconic features of the game. Its a great way to mix both classic and pre-quel trilogy. Unfortunately...I still wish we got a hoth
3) Dude...the features just barely got out yesterday...and I think theres still quite a bit in the works for it as well. Plus 100 GROUND quests...thats pretty substantial mate. These aren't the JTL missions, where Id say can be considered a bit cookie cutter in some aspects (rescue/assination/dogfights etc)...but 100 missions devoted to several POIs on Kashyyyk. Now if only each planet got 100 missions too...
A planet is pretty huge, first time....although the combat details were very vague...leaving an impression to you folks that you'll be having to pay for the CU (which is a big negative!)...the expansion may very well include new weapons/armour, and combat features like driveable combat vechs...
Im sure more will be announced soon.

With all due respect, it ain't ganna happen bro. This expansion is designed specifically to be timed with RotS. Sounds like Lucasarts put a line in the sand on this one. The announcement even said they would be adding content to it in the future.

Not that your points aren'tvalid, but considering the timing of this expansion's release, to coincide with the release of Episode III in theatres, there's no way in hell that SOE is going to push that back and miss that marketing opportunity. Its not like they can just wait for the next Star Wars movie to come out.

They've got a lot riding on this one, methinks.
Also, I sort of feel as though Rage of the Wookies is more in line with an actual expansion. New "zones," quests, equipment, etc. JTL was a special case, an entirely new game added on to the original game. Most expansions aren't that, well, expansive.
I do think that there are things they're not telling us. If they can make a 20-person ship work and be stable, there's nothing keeping them from having capital ships. As far as netting non-SWG players, the big draw is going to be Kashyyk. When it comes to current SWG players, though, something like Capital ships or even - dare I say it? - underworld content are more anticipated and is, therefore, something you'd want to play close to your chest until you're 110% sure you'll be able to implement it.
I mean, think about it. What's worse for the devs, saying now that there'll be capital ships and then taking them away a few weeks before RotW launch, or saying nothing now and then adding them a few weeks before launch?
My point is, don't worry too much yet.

Basically, it sounds like you want them to delay this expansion and give you something else. As another poster already pointed out, this is what usually is offered when it comes to expansions. JtL was the exception, not the rule.
Are there other things I'd like to see in the expansion? Sure. I'd love to see another player race. I can understand why they are reluctant to offer one though. How many Sullustans and Ithorians running around do you see right now?
Fact is, we just got the preliminary details yesterday. We don't know everything we are getting just yet. As others have mentioned, this expansion is a unique opportunity to tie in to Episode III as it is released, which they will never have again. I can't blame them from taking that chance.
As to capital ships and the like, the space regions need to be bigger to accomodate them. I'd love to see larger capital ships flying in and out of the more common space zones. It'd definitely add to the intergalactic feel of the community. However, those ships seem to monopolize a lot of space.
Sorry, I can't support your petition.

Ok, that was the purpose of the thread. If this expansion can sell better than the last, I am all for it. If it continues to be lackluster as is the sales of JTL and SWG, then I will be concerned.
I want this game to continue. I dont see viable financial choices being made. I will, however, digress if the community does not agree.

Im all for another expansion and more content. anything that adds to the game is good. But im just wondering if anyone has considered brand new players. When the new expansion comes out, new players will have to purchace 3 seperate things, the original SWG package, JTL and the Range of the wookies just to be completly up to speed.Had I not been playing all along theres no way I would jump into this game now having to buy all 3 parts. I have friends who Ive been trying to convert to SWG from other online games And when I mention buying the gameAND the JTL package they are like " you gotta buy 2 parts? f#@k that!"3 parts will be even worse! Anyway, I have no problem spending money on a 3rd expansion cause i dont have to buy them all at once, but I bet alot of people will! Just my 2 cents, for what its worth.

Think they mention somewhere a release of a 3-in-1 pack ... will probably be cheaper than the sum of three games .....

Just like all the other mmorg's do. New expansion, hook it up with all the other stuff out so that a new player doesn't spend as much to get up and running with the old guys. If they had to pay for all three seperate, that would be $95 and not many will pay that. No, it will go for about $50 and the expansion alone about $25-30. Its all about getting monthy paying customers.
