JTL is alot of fun. In live all of my harvestors are destroyed, and my guild is completely gone. I got on after a couple weeks and I had 40 emails of people leaving the guild. Oh well, I have been having a ton of fun.

PS

I am the only one left in my guild now.

I am sadened by this new, however I will test it for myself and then make my

Word of warning devs, if this is the same crap over and over again grind and grind
and more grinding, I will bid you farewell and take as many members of my guild to
WOW. As I've heard nothing but great things from my co-workers on WOW beta.

Don't you get it? People hate grinding. Please say this isn't going to be more
of the same crap. If it is, I suggest you hurry up on the combat revamp and the
GCW push, otherwise your not going to lose just me and the members of my guild but
your going to lose many more, with so many games coming out soon.

Just my thoughts.
Thank you

Actually, one MMO that doesnt require grinding is Matrix Online. I like many people immediately dismissed this game when I first heard it was announced, assuming it would be crap trying to make money off the name. But about a little over a week ago I stumbled onto a MxO site, and I was quite literally shocked. They have a completely new and innoventive "interlocking" fighting system. In which you choose every punch, kick, jump etc etc. Now, I'm not here to argue that its gonna blow away the competition. Everyone has their personal preference. But I DO highly suggest just taking a look. Its worth the 10-15 minutes worth of reading.

On WoW, everyone knows the only ones that will be playing that game are the Diablo 2 kiddies who can't get enough of killing each other over and over. (PvP)

On Matrix Online, I did check it out. A few of my friends are also intrigued by it. I'm not though. But then again, I was never a Matrix fan. The first movie was good. The rest... Just not my cup of tea I guess.

Now, if they ever make a Shadowrun MMORPG, I'll be the first in line to buy it.

Theres another mmo that doosnt use the grind. It's called Second Life. It's still in developement atm but sounds interesting. Players create everything in the game with in-game tools. Too much to go into here, but looks interesting.

Im going to rain on this parade.

WoW is NOT Star Wars, there is no comparison to be made.

The folks who really like the SW genre over Fantasy are going to play SWG no matter how good WoW is.

The folks who dont really care about the genre, then they might go anywhere (EQII, WoW, Anarchy Online, WWII Online, etc)

Personally I dont give a whit about what that transient MMOG population wants, its been my experience these power gamers roll in, make all kinds of noise, get changes that break the system, then leave the rest of us holding the bag while they head off to a new MMOG to ensure it gets broken too. (you know who you are, you types that blast through a skill tree in just a cpl hours. You dont care at all for the skills, they are just a speed bump on they way to the supposed 'top' of the game.)

If anything, these types of players are the fatal flaw in any MMOG, especially since game companies consitently underestimate how driven these people are to reach the top of whatever the game is as fast as they can. Its called Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and it reigns supreme in the gaming world. Personally I view them as the 'locusts' of gaming. They swarm into a new game, chew it up then swarm off.

I spent 4 years in EQ and would likely still be there, if it werent for the entire game getting retooled to cater to the high end game. The game has gotten so broken because of the sheer number of people powering their way to the top, that the low end of the game became utterly meaningless

Folks here cry about SWG being broken, but ya know what, so are the other current MMOGs, and as soon as you locusts make it to WoW or EQ II, it will become just as broken in new and exciting ways. Why will they be broken, just look in the mirror.

and to those who think there is nothing beyond getting to the top of your skill trees, you need do develop some imagination, as the possbilities are endless, especially with JTLS.

SWG is the first game I have seen where I can control, define, create so much of the environment.

cmon, wouldnt a head 2 head battle between some player run Corellian Corvettes with player fighter escorts be pretty damn cool?

If you cant see all the new options opening up, its your loss

I love it when someone contradicts himself/herself in the first sentence (think about it).

I would agree with stifler. I have not played WoW, but I have played other games. I think SWG breaks away from that "l33t kiddies" role very well. Many here help noobs rather than scream "n00b" at them before returning to their clique, excluding the potential member. SWGis amore"adult" game. If you want an example of a leet kiddie, go see Letyo and his gang on the Bloodfin forums. That is as close to leet kiddie, on this game, that I know of.

My last thought: I do not play this game for star wars. I am too young to remember any of the original movies, and I have never cared about any of the "sticking with continuum" that many fans obsess about. So, when I hear that players only play it for the SW, I get angered. Whenever I hear that the players wish to waste precious developer time to "fix" a very fun portion of the game because they pull out a 3-sentence quote from one of the novels that states it would not be possible, I am furios.

Well we don't play it just for Star Wars but because it's a fun game too. The fact is, this is already an established universe and if they are going to make some changes they can't just say "oh well let's just throw this in here." That's why they did the story mode for the Village to weave a story to explain Jedi.

You may not bea Star Wars fan but I'd say a good 90% of your fellow players are fans and time has to be spent to make it as much like Star Wars as possible.

Imagine playing MLB '04 and having footballs in there and when players demanded it be fixed, some players get angry because they aren't baseball fans and it didn't matter to them.

This game was developed for Star Wars fans first and foremost but I'm glad you enjoy it enough to play it too

Hopefully the changes that are made for bring the game in line with the established history won't affect your gameplay too much more as I can also see where that can be frustrating too. I didn't mean to sound like I was flaming you or upset at you or anything-I wasn't. As a matter of fact, I'm glad to have non-fans play but I just wanted you to see where we're coming from.

I support removing combat classes if keeping them in results in a "dumbed down" game

I have no interest in WoW

I love starwars and the thought of space combat, be it good or bad has me drooling all over my keyboard.

the only thing i'm not happy about is that the new GTA is released on the PS2 the same day as JTLS.

but thats ok GTA can wait....

mastering swordsman however cannot. do u think i'll be able to modify a ship with swords sticking outr all over it and get swords xp for flying through stuff?
