I must admit I have yet to play JTL, didn't want beta to take away from my jedi grinding, however I spoke my vetern SWG guildmates and they report that it's more
of the same. They said the first leveling part seems kool but then what? More of the same. They also state that it's even buggier then on the ground, and the devs will
be going live towards the end of the month.

I am sadened by this new, however I will test it for myself and then make my
judgement.

Word of warning devs, if this is the same crap over and over again grind and grind
and more grinding, I will bid you farewell and take as many members of my guild to
WOW. As I've heard nothing but great things from my co-workers on WOW beta.

Don't you get it? People hate grinding. Please say this isn't going to be more
of the same crap. If it is, I suggest you hurry up on the combat revamp and the
GCW push, otherwise your not going to lose just me and the members of my guild but
your going to lose many more, with so many games coming out soon.

Just my thoughts.
Thank you

grinding is a state of mind. you can play. or you can grind. it is all in the choice of the player. I don't feel flying through space shooting up rebel fighters and getting xp from it as "grinding" but to each their own i guess.

WoW is grinding too. Dunno why you think it'd be an exception.

MMO = Grind.

The trick is to find a grind you enjoy. Suddenly it's not a grind anymore.

I don't know if anyone has inofrmed you yet, but WoW isn't set in the Star Wars universe. So if you're a Star Wars fan, wanting to "Live the Saga" you're going to be pissed playing WoW!

I support removing combat classes if keeping them in results in a "dumbed down" game
- I support Devs that know how to design a game

Going by these arguments, I can say X-wing and TIE Fighter were grinds. I think we can all agree they weren't. Neither is JTL. Yes, I'm in Beta and have played the game a lot. When the Devs say there are over a hundred different types of missions, you can believe them. I've seen a lot of them. It's fun. Just as fun for me as X-wing and TIE Fighter, except I get to build and customize my own ship as well as get fancy upgrades as I progress through the game. And the graphics are far superior to any current space sim out there today. If you enjoy blasting enemy fighters in real time space combat, you will not notice the "grind". Trust me on this. There's even lots of tactical decisions to make in addition to having good hand eye coordination. I would go into detail, but I'm scared to death of the NDA. I wouldn't have said this much, but I'm sick of hearing all the negative reviews of JTL Beta. There are bugs and some problems, but again, that's what beta is for and the Devs are working very hard to fix them and improve things overall. Fanboy out.

Pfffft. Name one MMO that doesn't require grinding? What's one of the largest growing genres in videogames now? MMO. Apparently people like to "grind".

IMO, "grinding" is what makes MMOs great. It all boils down to the same simple pleasures you get from the old high-score games of the early 80s like Ms. Pac-Man and Galaga. How much XP can I get in an hour or in a buff session or in a week? I know its 2004 and all "sophisticated" gamers are supposed to be into loving branching missions, group dynamics/tactics and open ended missions. But, some of us still enjoy the simple pleasures of gaming, even if we don't like to admit it.... uh-hem.

I also find it odd that someone grinding Jedi states that "people hate grinding". You must not mind it too much.

and wow will be any different than any of the other mmorpg

ccccggggggggggHOSKA ASREEN OF ECLIPSE "your bakeryproducts are weak old man"ggggggggggccccWhen people refer to something that is Star Wars canon, they are referring to the "official story" of Star Wars.

George Lucas says (love it or hate it) that only the Star Wars movies are truly canon - that is, that only the movies offer the true story of what happened in the Star Wars galaxy. According to George, all the events that appear in the Expanded Universe - comics, novels, games - did not actually happen in the Star Wars galaxy, but are only additional tales that provide "what if" scenarios and events.

Many people hate George Lucas for this, since even though he personally approves all Expanded Universe material, markets it under LucasFilm, LucasBooks, LucasArts, and profits greatly from it, he still says it is not canon.

I think low level missions and leveling up will always be seen as less than stellar game play. But I think high end JTL has so much to offer. The PVP sectors should be crazy, I assume there are high end group missions where you take out capital ships..... Yes the first 2 weeks may not be as jazzy and exciting as you hope, but once you get past those, I think things will be much more fun.
