I have to say that this is an MMORPG and not an FPS, you're playing your character when you log in, you have what your character has.

is it not ok for your character to have to ability to use another ship for combat in a special zone?

Maybe it's just me but JTL doesn't seem all that RPG-esq. I mean after all, I'm piloting the ship directly; the RPG element of AED does factor in some, however skill is the primary factor. So, why not have a level playing ground? An area where the amount of time you spent grinding, or credits you spent on ship components doesn't matter. I think a lot of pilots would enjoy it.

Now this is an idea. I hope it gets through. Oh, and 5 stars to everyone for being cool!

Its a neat idea, but sounds like it would require a ton of new code. I highly doubt that SOE wouldbe willing todevote the resources nessary to implement this. Also, I think making more of space open pvp would be better, just look at all the space that is essiantialy wasted right now. Yea, we do missions through it until were masters, once we have master we just kinda sit there in our ships thinking...."k that grind sucked, the vette was tough but fun....glad im master..... ..... ....... ........ *whistle a little tune* .... .... ... .. .. . this sucks /logout"

1 pvp zone in a mmog, some one needs to be fired.

Also pvp has no reward, poor development. I want a reward for crushing imperial ties piloted by infieror air men

It doesn't make any sense from an imersion standpoint to have a real zone that you can enter thats fps fragland. Maybe if there was a way to enter what was for continuitys sake a virtual arena that you can participate in this style of combat in that is totaly separate from the game world.

The problem is it's hard to get people to participate in faction related combat as it is. If you create a combat utopia world separate from the normal game world what will happen to normal faction combat in the game? Noone is going to want to participate inreal, and imersive faction pvpif they have a no concequences virtual fragfest to go blast eachother in till the end of time. It goes against the whole concept of integrated pvp happening all around you and detracts from the imersion in the star wars theme. So i am going to have to say i disagree.

The current overt/covert/TEF PvP (in the ground game) is, unfortunately, neither realistic nor immersive, and this is why people are looking for different, more fun systems. From an 'immersion' standpoint, it would make sense that you can, if you're, for example, Imperial, enlist in a strike squadron as 'cannon fodder', be transported to a site of a space battle in a Star Destroyer, and be issued a stock TIE, just like the other members of the squadron. Why would that be wrong?

Because it takes it and puts it off in another sector of space away from the eyes of the public. My desire is to see combat hapening all around me in the regular zones. I want to be flying through naboo space and suddenly see rebels and imperials clashing and be able to join in. I don't want to see normal space become a ghost world because everyones off in the arcade zone.

realy i guess it's the same concept as battlefields.

The main problem with the ground game for me is that it has too many deterents. The number one deterent, the entire concept of buffs. The fact that you need to go prepare yourself and get into your special armor that takes up nine slots in your inventory, and make sure you have just the right foods, yadda yadda yadda. It all makes it so cumbersome. And then you walk into town and get popped in the head with a jawa rifle and its back to square one. Go buy more buffs, wait for your stomach to empty so you can eat more food, blah blah blah.

This is what i like about space pvp, you dont need any buffs you're always ready as long as your ship is loaded up and your're on the ball. Theres potential here for the spontenaety i'd like to see. Problem is people are programed in ground combat mode that pvp is hard and ponderous and realy not very rewarding. So they just aren't taking advantage of the systems that are already in place.

I'd love it if that got implemented! Maybe throw in some perks you can buy with FP points for the JtL "Battlefield" like a slightly stronger shield or weapons. No extreme things just some little things.

That is absolutely true - I'd like to see a faction system that really means something (such as Valarian ships attacking me and Hutt ships leaving me alone most of the time, if I'm on 5000 with Jabba and -3500 with the Lady), I'd like to see a realistic PvP system implemented throughout the whole game (if you attack your local crafter, be prepared to deal with a few bounty hunters the next day) etc. Such things, however, will never be implemented for the same reasons Kessel was changed into a PvE zone...

One of the main problems in the ground game are, as you've said, buffs and complete lack of competitiveness of factional armor. For example, no one is going play as an overt Stormtrooper when you need half an hour of preparation to get your 3 hours of play, and, if you, by any chance, encounter an overt Rebel, you can be sure he's going to be in full Composite, wielding a large hammer. I'm quite anxious to see how this works out in the Combat Balance. Or Revamp. Or Upgrade. Whatever it's called this week.
