Don't get me wrong i'm not for forcing anyone to participate in pvp if they don't want to. I just want to see some incentives to get people to want to. We can see what the hinderences are it's time to start removing them and upping the incentives so that people choose to go overt. I think the overt/covert system is realy a good idea it just needs some fixes to make it work better.
That is absolutely true - I'd like to see a faction system that really means something (such as Valarian ships attacking me and Hutt ships leaving me alone most of the time, if I'm on 5000 with Jabba and -3500 with the Lady), I'd like to see a realistic PvP system implemented throughout the whole game (if you attack your local crafter, be prepared to deal with a few bounty hunters the next day) etc. Such things, however, will never be implemented for the same reasons Kessel was changed into a PvE zone...
One of the main problems in the ground game are, as you've said, buffs and complete lack of competitiveness of factional armor. For example, no one is going play as an overt Stormtrooper when you need half an hour of preparation to get your 3 hours of play, and, if you, by any chance, encounter an overt Rebel, you can be sure he's going to be in full Composite, wielding a large hammer. I'm quite anxious to see how this works out in the Combat Balance. Or Revamp. Or Upgrade. Whatever it's called this week.

The Combat Upgrade will probably be a good start. Well, at least I hope so. I can imagine having a permaovert Stormtrooper character if there was no need to go through the whole 'now I'm going to prepare for PvP' process. As it is, PvPers are usually powergamers, and casual players have very little chance against them. If it wasn't such a big deal to be overt as it is now (if you could log on to your ST character, stroll around Eisley and actually have a chance against a rebel you encounter hiding at the back of the cantina without spending millions on skill attachments, DoT weapons or a Jedi character

I enjoy the combat in JTL PvP. My problem is this: I'm a neutral(CorSec) and when I went into Kessel practically everyone could attack me. If I joined a group of rebels they could inadvertently damage me while we were pursuing someone else. And since PvP is 1-3 shot kills I was killed by my group members all the time.
Not to mention groups of 4444s and Masters jumping people as soon as they hypered in. The Devs should setup a PvP zone where you are hypered in as far from the main body of combat as possible. Thus giving you time to prepare and get a handle on the situation.
That's my $0.02 for now.

So when is Slarus going to come in here spouting the same old crap about how PvPers should not be given access to anything not available to PvEers (the ship schematics, in this case)? He's usually on top of these kind of things...

Sounds alright to me, although there's no reason for the YT-2000 to be uber or anything. Just another MP ship would be nice so that we can have choices.
Also, if it was an uber ship the same thing might happen as Kessel, people will want it, grind for it and if someone attacks them in Wild Space or Kessel while they're grinding then it will be condemned as greifing....

Great idea.
I also remember seeing some ship called the "Dark Eclipse" in the Endor system... all I could realley rescribe it as would be like a big manta ray sorta shaped pirate ship. Perhaps devs could make that an alternate for the Yt ship they have now?
And I guesse it would be a good idea to do that for rebs and imps too.
That way people could have cool warships.

I think this is a pretty good idea so heres my /bump. But, as said before, it might be a bit hard to code in (but I don't do any kind of computer coding IRL so I can't say if it's easy or hard), but if everyone has an even-ish ship then it would be all about skill. I also think a good thing would be doing some kind of optional missions in these areas and badges/records of the best killing sprees or something like that. But, this area would probably mean that no-one would PvP in other areas for the sake of losing their ship and expensive repairs. Actually, instead of a certain area always like this, it could switch between different systems, Such as the Tatoo system one day and The Naboo sector another day. Just to add a bit of variety, thats all.

I like the idea of using prestige to use ships like the yt-2000,tie defender, tie sentinal,yt-2400.
