Thread: Is this correct?

My guess is that they will add "Combat Module Slots" to the droids that they want to be combat-capable. The new combat modules will only fit into these new slots, and no other modules will work in them. This seems the most logical to me, as the astromech droids aren't very combat capable, and it would be a farce to see the R3 as the best combat droid.

Actually a good question. So you need 6 perfect combat modules to make the current probot? LOL why wouldnt this surprise me.

Why does everyone thing that the R3 is the only one we can put 6 modules into action? Remember this is a revamp of our profession, SO lets assume that they will actually take the Probot and beef up its base schematic to include 6 of the new Combat modules.

One other thing to remember... elsewhere TH also said that not all droids will be combat capable. So there's more to it than just putting a combat module into a general module slot... the droid must also be authorized to carry a combat module, and THEN you can put it into a general module slot.

Hmmmm. ok. My interpretation of what he said lead me to believe that the socket cluster of general moduleness was only prerequisite. Oh well. I'll keep loggin on to TC and get a sneak peek asap I guess.

Well, as usual, it wasn't 100% clear. He said in one place that only certain droids would be combat capable, then he said in another place that the new combat modules would fit in existing general module slots. You could read those as being contradictory or complimentary.

Kollos, I don't recall seeing this posted by TH, would you happen to have a link? My thinking (completely an educated guess, no posts really back it up)is that they would add new combat slots to droids (controlling which droids would be combat-capable) to put these new modules into.

I want to put a combat module into a mouse droid. If anyone gives me crap, tell my mouse to sick'em. That'll teach them to mess with me.

It's in the "Where we were and where we're going thread here. Look down at the Publish 7 notes and you'll find it.

  • Combat module will only mount in droids capable of combat. They can be placed in one of the general droid module slots that already exist on the droid chassis’, seen during the crafting of the droid.

  • (Editing.. hit submit by accident)...

Basically what we're gaining is another alternative, rather than an add-on. If someone wants their droid to be combat-capable, it means they have to give up storage or medical or crafting stations or whatever. I like it that way. If all droids had combat slots in addition to general slots, then every droid out there would be combat-ready, and thus droids would cease to be unique. We'd be right back where we are now, basically.

The interesting thing about this is that the basic probot doesn't have any module slots. Did we just gain another "useless" droid?

Ah... I figured I had just missed it or something. This doesn't make any sense to me, but I guess I'll just have to see how things play out. They're going to have to revamp all the Droid Schematics to make droids capable of having the full 6 combat modules. Guess I'll have to finish grinding out my DE on Test to see how this all pans out....

First of all I'm hoping that TH mispoke, and meant to say that it takes a 100% level 6 module to have the best droid and not 6 100% modules. That would make more sense and be more in line with the rest of our droids. They're not going to give every droid 6 module slots because it would unbalance everything... that would mean that a novice DE could throw 6 level 1 med modules in to an MSE droid and end up with a 110% med droid... yikes.

You may be right about the probot. Either they'll need to add a module slot to it or keep it's inherant combat characteristics the way they are. Who knows? TH is on vacation so we probably won't get any answers for a while...
