Ok, so going at a speed of 1200 is slow? I have to slow down just so I don't overshoot the damn things, the blacksuns I've been fighting have gone from a cruise speed of 950ish to 809..

Well....yeah. My dunelizard cruises at 1339, and boosts at 1670. I can stay on the tails of Tier 5 Awings all day, and, let me tell ya, they try their hardest to shake ya. No "Donut of Doom".

My point is, I can (if I want) well outpace my targets, if I try and stay on their tails I just end up going round in circles after them.

As sound as that tactic may be IRL, it a) doesn't help the blacksuns because they die anyway and b) is as boring as heck to actually fight them. They don't dodge, they dont try to fly away, they dont even seem to try and shake me, they just end up going round me in an anti-clockwise direction as I shoot them.

Like I said, to me it apears that the AI has reverted itself to beta stage. The point here is about challanging and fun, the current AI doesn't match that.

Um, I think you missed where I said that the Tier 5's don't do the "Donut of Doom"!! That means they do not go in circles.

Instead, they zig and zag, trying to lose me. It's nice.

Perhaps it would be better if you could state what you expect from the AI?

edit:

Sorry there guy, i just havent seen what your saying. The AI is better than how it was before last patch, its most definatly better than how the AI was after last patch.

If you think its just about flying in circles, your wrong.

I don't think it should be about flying in circles, but I do think (at least with some NPCs) that it currently is about flying in circles. And don't tell me I'm wrong, I'm there, I can see whats going on, your not.

Well thats great for you, but the NPC's i've encountered (Tier 4's) are doing the "Donut of doom" for me and frankly its not in any way entertaining.

I to tried the new AI this morning, I only had a limited amount of time, but in my mind it is an importaint fix. I went to Kessle first, and one of those Oppresser or what ever that damn Imp. shiip with the rear mounted gun is,spanked me, oops forgot to adjust my forward shield. After I was humbled, I went to an area with lvl 4 Imp.'s, I did notice the donut of doom while not completly gone is nowhere near as bad as it was in beta, the speed has been slowed down, the tie's and advanced I ran into actually tried to evade me, they rolled, they jinked, they just didn't turn to the left, they went right also.....very very good improvement, as I siad I only had a limited amount of time, will look into this more tonight.

Why are you "discussing" this when its obvious your mind is made up on what you think is fact?

I played this morning, mainly against teir 4's. I hadn't observed the picture your painting. What i observed was a little jinking, was being forced into a lag pursuit, or going out of plane of motion with the mob and getting inside of the mobs turn circle to get into a lead pursuit for a gun shot, or get directly on his 6 and smoked him, and it was fun.

I can only comment on Tier 5 because, well, thats all i've been flying against, heh. Tier 5's are pretty fun to fight right now. They're not overly fast, i've yet to see a TIE go over a speed of 1k yet, and when i do get on their tail they try their hardest to shake me. All except the Agressors that is, they seem content to let me sit behind them while they try and rip me a new one with their rear-facing turret.

My top speed is1138 now, thats just in an X-wing with the 92.2 engine and the Engine Overload 3 droid program. It's pretty sweet. Weapon Overload 3 helps me take out those guns on the agressors before they do too much damage.

I tried fighting in my B-wing but it will take some getting used to... I think they would actually have benefited from jousting heh, as boring as that may be.

When i get some decent components to make it worth while, i'll try outfitting my A-wing... I can really see the potential of it as some ships still manage to out-turn me while i try to stick to their rear.

I like the changes, but Im actually having more problems dealing with tier 2/3 than tier 4/5 now. Im at 4343 and running a pretty nice TIE Advanced, but my optimal turning speed is so high I overshoot my target if I try and stay on a tier 2/3's tail. If I slow down to a speed which keeps me neatly on their six, my turning is so sucky I cant keep up with the new AI

All I know is the whiners have now pissed ME off. I had no problem with Kessel going PvE; no one should be forced into PvPing.

But these new damn T5s are child's play. A-Wings doing 989kph? X-Wings doing 899? What is this, Tier 3? Not to mention Kessel is DEAD now. In the old "super spawn" areas I liked to frequent, there were easily 150 ships in a gigantic orgy of PvE targets, but now I'm lucky to find three within 1500m of one another.

Naturally, this'll serve to completely dry up the loot flow.

This is an insult to everyone who actually learned to fight the damned things when they were doing cartwheels at 1099kph rather than come on here and moan that they couldn't hack it. I could somehow do it with a 74 speed L4 with a 65 yaw/pitch rating, and could *REALLY* do it with an REed reward L6...but damn, I guess I'm just exceptional...or people just want their kills handed to them on a silver platter.

Congratulations, by crying "It's too hard!" Kessel has now been TRULY killed. I give it a week before people start complaining about how the AI actually uses their throttles now - "OMG IT'S TOO HARD TO HIT THE MATCHSPEED BUTTON IN DOGFIGHTS, MAKE THEM GO THE SAME SPEED ALL THE TIME AGAIN!"

Grrrrrrr.

Impossible speeds? Nah...

The only people who complain about impossible speeds are the ones who aren't using the droid specials to their fullest or been out and gotten a good custom engine made by your local shipwright.

Quite easy to break 1500 in pretty much any ship if you set yourself up right. (and yes...I'm including the big multiplayer ships too, my Decimator can break 1700)

And you don't see a problem with this?????

Ywings, TIE Bombers and Multiplayer ships shouldn't be able to go faster then 700. They are supposed to be slow and move like jelly. The fact that the difference in speed between the Awing and the Ywing with the same engine is only 200 (thats the most I have seen, usually it is closer to 100) is just wrong. The cruising speed of a ywing in XvT was 60, the Xwing was 100 and the Awing was 120. The Awing was 100% faster then the ywing. And an Awing has a very similar engine as the Ywing, only the Ywing is bigger and the reactor is dedicated to more subsystems that it is the slower ship.

Now, with that being said, when I am in an Xwing and I try to take out a TIE bomber and they are going faster then me with the 92 engine, this is sad. People say I am not using my droid to my fullest, but the fact is, I don't have the chips. I would have to convince an imp to give me programmed chips. That will be a tough task. I would need to know a spy to mass produce them.

Absolutely incorrect.

"This is the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy, kid! It made the Kessel run in under 12 parsecs!"

MP ship can be fast, really fast, in linear motion. Heaven forbid you should need to turn, however. That's the way it should be. Fast in a straight line, but much slower if you need to maneuver.

That is a problem atm, because bigger ships (that are supposed to be slower) can carry faster engines they can outrun fighters. I think they need a bigger difference between fighter speed and bomber/MP ship speed.

Another strange thing i've noticed is, if I fly slower the AI ships speed up but if I stick on their tail using engine overloads they keep slowing down, sometimes almost stopping on turns.
