Thread: Chassis decay on multi-player ships

Thats ok, but what happens when it does reach 10? It becomes a bit useless because 1 tap on the chassis and it goes boom before you have time to click repair conduit, and it means transfering ALL your items to a new one, for a start not everyone has a place to store them while you transfere. If people had to do that with houses (which is what MP ships party are) there would be riots:/

Yeh I'm pretty annoyed with the chassis decay. My Nova is now down to 1850 max hitpoints. It cost me 1.5 million credits to buy and I've blown it up maybe 5 times due to all the crew (me included) being inexperienced at group play in space. Most of the damage has been caused by taking on gunships in Kessel tho - they rip through the shields and armour extremely fast on a not-so-maneuverable target.

We're getting the hang of it now but I still think something needs to be done about chassis decay. It's too expensive to replace the entire ship on a routine basis. Waaaay too expensive.

Perhaps lower the 1 hitpoint lost per 10 repaired rule to 1 in 50? Maybe even 1 in 100. Better still, scrap it. I like the maintenance idea.

In my opinion, if your shields and armor are gone, your chassis, regardless of decay, is not going to save you.

Where can I read about MP ships? All the positions and such?

That's potentiallya difference between 4000 hit points for a fresh chassis and 1 hitpoint for a fully decayed one. It is a big difference... Also 90% of the fun of multi-passenger shipsis having the crew run around and repair stuff - it's not like it's good xp. With a heavily decayed chassis, the ship would just disintegrate after it lost the shields and armour. That would mean that the crew miss out on a really fun part of the game in used ships (and it doesn't need to be heavily used to get bad chassis decay).

Ship chassis wearing out was designed as a credit sink, one of the biggest thus far. They're not going to remove this on *any* ship.

Yep, my MP ship lost about 1k already and its only been totaly destroyed twice. I repaired it once with repair kits but it still decayed like crazy, I guess MP shipsare just going toturn into another novelty no one wants to risk using (like mando armor and jetpacks), a bit sad really because they are/were so much fun:/

Also the chassis decaying is putting more and more people off space PvP because they cant afford to just keep replacing them like their a bit of armor.

I totaly agree!

With the costs of a MP chassis, there should be a way to totaly repair the chassis back to the original condition. Or perhaps, lose one chassis point at a full repair.

Shipwrights (maybe with the help of a master artisan) and craft Chassis Patch-up kits for this use. That way, the crafting profession can still make money. And if you repair the chassis at a station, you lose more points than with a chassis patch up kit. Or maybe, even cant repair the chassis at a station at all!

I would love this idea, and everyone, including craftsmen will profit form it.

This concept goes along the lines of another post i made about making the repair kits make less decay.

- repair at station = 10 points decay (this is standard right now)

- repair with repair kits = 5 points decay (this is new, and will promote sales of kits from shipwrights)

- a shipwright makes the repair with a repair kit = 1 decay (SW can charge for services!, and having a SW in battle would be a huge plus!)

Hmmmmm. With this kind of "CREDIT SINK" space is doomed.

I like the idea of maybe a vitality on the ships whick only SW can repair or make repair kits for like the droids and pets that way they can charge a lil high for the kits but not as nearly as high as the act of replacing one.

Nah I like the idea of vitality on ships so we will always have the full condition but the SW could charge a ton or so to speak on the kits but not too much to where we have a money issue killing the PVP.

it isnt a money sink because the shipwrights are getting the money.

a money sink is where money is removed from the game via maintenance etc, to balance with new money from missions.

with this, all shipwrights get the money, which will get turned into the maintenance on their harvesters you can argue.. but they are still making a killing.

Sh*t, I'm making a killing just selling the stuff I loot. I can't imagine the $$$ if I made the stuff.

Hmmm. What must you be looting? I loot and all I get is SH*T, but it can't even pose as a chance of getting the gayest loot awards. lol
