You can't solo your way to Ace without real skills. It's about time this game got a decent difficulty level that actually made people work for a master box.

Oh, and for your information, I *did* make it to Ace solo, and I had to pass that same mission. So it is soloable.

Heh, wow, aren't you special.

I find your lack of modesty, disturbing.

I lost that a long time ago when I quit caring whether people like my opinions. Plus I'm especially grumpy today

Well lucky you, I for one am in the same situation as the thread starter. Ok, I only attempted it once so far, but it is rediculous the way some missions are set up. I don't have a problem with grouping even though my server is nearly void of players most of the time..., I don't have a problem with a good challenge... as long as I don't have to just sit and watch people do my mission, What the hell fun is that.!?! Get an ace or a couple of wingmen, then stay back sotheyaren't put in a position torepeat or tell you they don't want to do it again, since it is boring for them.

I do have a problem with having to repeat the entire sequence of a mission if I die or have to log off. If there are 10 parts to finish a mission and you get a system mission that you were successful in one of them, well then you should not need to repeat it. How is that being successful?

Furthermore, anyone that says they recently soloed tier 3 of Imperial Inquisition must tell me how they done it. The 3rd phase or sequence of this mission requires you to dock with a transport and fight off 7 tier4 and 5 ships. Tell me how you do that solo? If your docked with the frieghter how do you attack other ships? If you attack the spawn of deadly ships how do you survive long enough? Don't tell me I need better components cause from what I heard I have a great ship.

Now I say recently because my guildmates that completed this mission don't remember it the way the mission is presented to me. So obviously it was changed.

I can take out tier 5 without a problem one on one at 2222, even 2-3 at a time....but 7? Sure I will get my guild to help me when they have time and when we can be on-line at the same time, too bad the game mechanics make it so I cannot enjoy myself until then.

Because you're trying to destroy them. Blow up the engines, move to the next. Quick succession. Do it quickly and make use of bstrike. Target bstrike on the biggest threat and choose a different target for yourself. A common mistake people make (including myself) is that they attack the same target bstrike is. Don't. Bstrike is far better than any fire and forget (read: missile) weapon.

Find a freelancer friend to give you cap overload and cap to shield dump. Those commands will save your life more than any others in the game. Put priority on droid speed in your ship. The timer on cap to shield is the number of seconds equal to your droid speed. Got a 26 speed droid? 26 seconds between dumps. I personally prefer having cap recharge 4 and dump 4 over engine overload and weapon overload. Why? The more capacitor energy I have, the quicker I can recover from a nasty nasty shot.

Use every tool available to you and don't dismiss something simply because it seems "underpowered." Space isn't always about who has the bigger gun. Sometimes it's simply knowing where to aim.

**UPDATE** I just realized which mission you are talking about. Ignore my bstrike comments

Was that advice for me, Caile? If it was it is good and I do part of it, ie. disable engine and move on. I don't have access to Bomber Strike yet. I think it is in this tier but I have to complete this overly long mission before I can train a box. I'll look into getting cap overload and cap to shild dump...never realized I could use other factions Droid commands.

LOL i just seen you updated.

Well I am slow at posting.

Still, do you see the frustration some of us feel. Especially when you don't have a lot of time to play consequtivly? We are not trying to be childish or get a free I win. Grouping is hard these days and we just want to have fun. Not repeatedly do the same missions over and over. Nor do we want to stand back and watch others do our missions for us because we are too weak. Heck if other players that are helping you have to ask you to stay out of the mission then there is something wrong with the game mechanics.

Furthermore, you lose out on xp and looted components if the people you group with want to keep them.

Oh, I totally agree. I was completely frustrated. But I decided to get clever and try new things before saying, "This sucks."

That being said, to give you an idea of how useful cap 4 and cap shunt 4 are, I have the following stats on my cap, shield and droid (all master stuff, but still in proportion):

Cap:

919.9 energy (1839.9 using cap 4)

Shields:

1915.5 front/back

Droid speed: 10

As far as I can tell, cap to shield takes all your capacitor energy, splits it in half, then directly dumps it on a 1:1 or close to that to shields. So using cap overload 4, I dump:

1839/2 = 919 energy to front and back each. So thus, I can recharge my shields completely in 20-30 seconds.

Lower level shields should, I'm guessing, only need 1 dump with cap 4 to recharge totally.

Hope that helps

If you are only tier 2 in skills, are you able to use the higher tier droid commands?

You can use as many droid commands as fit in your flight computer. So you may or may not be able to fit these commands in (I suggest experimenting to make sure your reactor can support cap 4)

Caile- thanks for the info and I appreciate your advice. The only thing i can think is a problem is you have to be certified to use certain commands. I mean at lvl 2 astromech I can use up to lvl 2 commands. Anything beyond what your certified for wont work.

I am sorry to hi-jack this thread but in a way it relates to the starters issue. Right now I am so angry and am going to rant big time.

I went into the game and asked my guild mate to help me with the first teir 3 mission. If you have not ace'd in the last couple weeks then don't bother bragging about it. The Dev's have obviously made some changes.

Earlier today I grouped and finished the tier 2 imp inquisition mission. Killing Col Hend.

My trainer sent me to the next level trainer. I soloed the first 3 missions without much trouble, ran out of missles and if I landed to reload then I would have to start over but other than that I made it to the frieghter part of the mission. You have to dock and trasfer documents to them. At the same time your docking 7 tier 4 and maybe tier 5 rebel craft spawn. I died after a valiant fight then logged off.

After searching the boards and finding this thread I went back into the game and grouped with a guildy that is awesome. We started my mission and guess what? Because I was grouped with him the missions were 100 times harder. I am not exagerating. We disabled and moved on as fast as we could but by the time wave after wave of fighters I ended up dying.

Part of the problem was my partner in his uber ship was able to disable the craft way faster than I but a group of players were coming up and killing them. I don't know if they were getting the loot or if they thought they were helping. I didn't have time trying to survive this onslought to search and shout to stop. But even before the current spawn was reduced the next wave would come in.

Tell me anyone has completed this mission? Solo or in a group, how many players and what levels cause I am really frustrated and angry. I don't want an instant win, I don't want to be able to solo but for the love of god this is insane. It really deystroyed my trust in the Dev's for themto be so devious. They expect you to group, but if you do then you need a bigger group. I wonder what will happen if I group with 5-6, people. Spawns of 20-30?

Great now I find out that my ship that had 1900+ hitpoints is down to 1000. A few more deaths and I will need to get a new one. Or is there a way to fix this. It says its in pristine condition.

They might have changed it since I mastered, since I did it in the first week of JtL
