Cry:
do you ever do anything except cry for nerfs? Almost every post i see from you is a 'this is too hard', 'this is too overpowered' etc...

Personally, i get the piss knocked out of me in my a-wing if i'm flying against anyone with a decent engine and a little skill, yeah it takes some time, so what.

NPC a-wings are nothing compared to t5 droid fighters, and player a-wings... well... can you say mark 3 shields and armor? They're hard to hit, but you only have to hit them once.

So - off you go to beg for more nerfs to the game, because you once again appear to be in the minority that can't kill a-wings.

you have to be kidding.. they are one of the most eisiest targets out there.. the hutts, and BYX wings are esier also.. but try hitting a tie advance or kill a agressor that is more of a challange..

Try this... /throttle .8 in a TIE advanced, this is the sweet spot for turning quick. I have a slow engine in mine (681 tops) and I can still get em... The annoying part is once you get them in an evasion loop, where they just keep turning at the same angle around you, and you are basically spinning, they are so slim-lined that you really have to hold steady to hit em...but they are pretty easy, once you do the joust method listed above. They will eventually turn tail and loop, and thats when you blast em. Nothing is impossible to kill in this game, by any means, you just need a different strategy to get em all.

Using 80% throttle like this, I can take out Players in A wings with extremely fast engines fairly easy...the TIE advanced just turns faster than them. Don't give up, anything can be shot down with practice and experimenting!

Nag...nag...nag.

If other people can kill Tie Advanceds in a frickin' Y-Wing Longprobe, then you just need to practice.

Whine whine whine whine cheese whine whine A-wing can't kill I get pwned.

And for the rest of us... that means - yeah, appropriate name. Yes - I know.. I'm being unlikeable and very uncarebear like - but seriously. Go take a Y-Wing out and try shooting Interceptors. It's the same deal. Except on SWG Interceptors/Bombers come with added shields.

/sigh

And you take the coolest line from Stormies in vain.

rofl ... I dare you to try flying a TIE bomber without a fighter escort.

The only ship we have with good mass is un-usable without a serious fighter escort, at least your bombers can defend themselves!

As for the A-wing the reall thing I'm SICK of,

1) Watching my shots pass right through it and not register a hit.

2) Watching the damn thing fly right in between my shots, I know it's small, but being able to thread right in between my quad blaster shots, AND outmanuver me, AND having a higher mass than my interceptor is rediculous.

I have to say attacking an A-Wing is ANNOYING! I honestly if am in a group will let everyone else attack the A-wings. They are just not fun to attack and take way to long to kill. They are just to fast moving in the game to even engage and really are annoying to say the least. We need to make them work better with SWG because fast is fine, however unattackable is another story. This ship seriously needs some work. I dont have a problem with any other ships in the game but the A-wing. Anyone else feel they are annoying and in most cases dont even bother to engage them?

1st point.... um its an awing.....................

2nd point... they are not unattackable by any means... perhaps experiment with different ships to take them down with ? I dont know what pilot class you are... but as a master freelancer I have found my dunelizard is my personal favorite dogfighter and with a fast engine I have no problem cutting a-wings into little bits of space debri.......

awings even the high end kessel version and such are not unattackable by any means.. In fact I find them to be one of the most challenging npc ships to fight , side from the aggressor... this game is easy enuff as it is lets not get it dumbed down to the point where my 3 year old can take down tier 5s here

I guess the aggrssor is too hard to right? OMG IT SHOOTS AT ME WHEN IM BEHIND IT NERF NERF NERF!! NOT FAIR

It's a tier 4, your interceptor is not. All these problems are adressed by the tie advanced. It has chin mount lasers like a standard tie that hit it quite nicely. It more than adaquately keeps up to it in speed and manouvering. And it matches it poundfor pound in mass. If the interceptor didthen what would be the point of the advanced?

Don't say that our high mass ships are unuesable until you have flown the agressor. The agressor is the perfect balance of fighter and bomber, with 120k mass and handling surpasing the rhixyrk in my opinion it is a phenominal heavy. I'd go so far as to say the best heavy in the game.

Plus you can slap a turret on it and take a friend along for a fantastic time.

yeah you have to cap some throttle i fly a rihkx with an engine of 92 speed and i only fly at 40-60% when i dogfight.. lauch a cupple of streams of lazers and there u go 95% hits and you get the next target.. dont aim with the target computer thoe since it cant aim shiat..

Erm - no.

I think you're missing the point. A-Wings are the *fastest* ship out there. That's their counter for having almost no armour/shields and mass... they're a cockpit with two freakin huge engines bolted on.

They're not hard to kill, you just need to learn to lead and play with throttle.

And to the above poster - that technique works but only in PvE. When they don't just fly in circles they'll pull tricks you don't expect.

PvE and PvP techniques are are completely different right now. PvP needs to have a lot of pre-engagement jockying for position. This is dueto the 1-2 shot kills. Usually the first player to land a hit in PvP ends up victorious.

In PvE there are two challenges with the A-wing. Getting behind it and staying behind it. As most people here realize a higher tier ship shoudl not just sit there and let you get behind it and stay behind it firing all of the while until it dies. I expect one of the most maneuverable ship (the a-wing is not the most maneuverable) to use that against me. The dips and dives and changes of direction are all managable with proper throttle control and positioning.

One of the biggest leaps in dogfighting ability comes when you realize that lining up your crosshairs with the targeting zone is not always the best way to attack an opponent. Take some time to get into a good firing position and open fire. If the opponent dips or dives stop firing maneuver your way back into position and open fire again. 6-10 well placed shot are more effective that 300 shots that go all over the quadrant.

If you are drasticaly dropping your throttle to 1/3 as i thinki have seen tou say you are never going to get behind them. The most i ever drop to is about 3/4 throttle in a fight with a tier 5 a-wing and its just to come around, it gets slammed right back up to full after that.

If it's coming around and you can see it starting to out turn you, use a lead pursuit. That is to say overshoot it by a great deal, so you can barely see the lead indicator or better yet not even see it at all. If you do it right, when it comes back into view you will be rewarded with the sight of an a-wing about 30 feet in front of your nose and ready to be shot full of holes.

Do not get overzealous with a lead pursuit in a pvp situation as you could miscalculate and expose yourself to fire easily, which is not a big deal in a pve fight, but a very big deal in a pvp fight.

Umm I dont recall saying cant kill them, what I am saying is the AI coding on these is wrong and not done correctly. I am well aware of speeds and how to take them down. Annoying is the key word here not I dont know how to do it. I am sure I can take you out in 2 secs with the weakest of ships, doesnt mean your anything special.

The most annoying thing about A-wings is not necessarily their size.

Yes its fast but you can keep up to it.

No its their relatively small physical size. I can shoot exactly at an Awing and all 6 of my shots pass right past them. 3 left and 3 right.

Most Privateer ships have their guns (or at least 1 of them) far outside on their wings. usually always one or often 2 of those miss.
