I have to say attacking an A-Wing is ANNOYING! I honestly if am in a group will let everyone else attack the A-wings. They are just not fun to attack and take way to long to kill. They are just to fast moving in the game to even engage and really are annoying to say the least. We need to make them work better with SWG because fast is fine, however unattackable is another story. This ship seriously needs some work. I dont have a problem with any other ships in the game but the A-wing. Anyone else feel they are annoying and in most cases dont even bother to engage them?

I take tier 5 awings in kessel, using my opressor, no problem
I take ace's awings (players) with my advanced tie, no problem
just admit it, you don't know how to fly a ship

Just because all the other craft are easy to kill doesnt mean the A-Wings have to be easy too...

I personally thinkt he AI needs a little work. I'd kind of like to see the NPC AI ships try to get on your "6" and follow you. But, what worries me is that if the dev's were to make this change, the NPC ships may become too difficult.

Need a better engine. Killing A-wings is easy if you can keep up with them. And when they are turning you need to adjust where you fire, because most shots placed at the green target helper will miss, shoot inside that closer to the target and you should hit. If you have a slow ship that doesn't manuever well you will have a lot of trouble.

I'll try to transcribe a trick I found and use against fast turning enemies:
"Use your trottle up and down to forceyour enemyto go straight in front of your nose" (well, i think its a good name anyway for a trick
)
1.- Once he pass you head to head, turnfast over him. This means, trottle down at your sweet turn speed (75% on Awings, 50% on Y-wings...) trying to catch his angle (use radar to do it in the shortest angle).
2.- Once he's 90º from you, keep on steering over him, but switch to full trottle. You'll get him at your 8 now (verticalaxis). He will take the lead in the turn again.
3.- Just after you begin to aproach each other again, trottle to "sweet turn speed", keep on turning untill you face him and prepare to repeat step 1.
Keep on doing this and after some passes (depending of your chasis your engine and your enemy's level) you wll be able to stay at his "6". It's a matter of not flying in circles nor ovals, but squaring untill you get him in a funny angle. You enemy won't try to get you once you are behind him, but will try to evade. Prepare for fast-responding-following of your target
.
I don't know if it has a technical name (I'm not a profesional pilot at all), I just tried to find a way to avoid the endless face2face battles against Scyks, A-wings and TIE advanced. It works great for me, after 2 or 3 passes, I can handle Tier 5 scyks with not much problem.
I hope i won't kill anyone with my english
ps: Don't try to make a hit while doing this trick because you will miss some valious turning degrees. Keep on catching him, once you got him, he will eat a lot more fire than crossing sporadically.

when a Awing Is running head On into me I just Cut back Throttle, I turn the best at 50% throttle I make My turn Just before He Passes through me, I usually Finish my turn about the Time he is Starting Into his, Then I just Boost. He never makes it head on with me again. I keep him at a 45 degree Angle, shooting away. By the time he trys a Second turn I am On his 6, and he's Done. Or He keeps Circling me, But Since he is running as fast as he can, I just adjust My throttle to keep my Line of Fire On him. I can do this to all fast moving Ships with the exception of the aggressor, Damn Rear mounted Guns.

Now you know what it's like being a Rebel or Privateer chasing these TIE variants all over space. It least all your ships are maneuverable.

I think we are missing the point here. Its not hard to kill an A-Wing due to mass, What I am saying is its a bit to fast even if you almost stop your craft to try and hit it. We need to slow down the A-Wing as far as movement goes in the game mechanics. Its annoying

Awings are challenging to track... not annoying... too bad they give little fp reward fro te amount of effort taking one out.

Another method I like to use against an AI enemy that wants to joust with me is the Brute force method.
The key to this method is you need to have more sheild and blaster than the enemy. If you don't it will not work.
If the AI wants to joust and you can't seem to get behind them just let them have it straight on. If you can get their front sheild down they will try to run and at that point you will be able to get to their 6 and blast to your hearts content.
Like I said, this is the brute force method. Its not very elegant and it will not work if your blaster/sheilds are weaker than the opponent. I always try to maneuver into position but if that fails after a couple of tries, I do this and I has not had it failed yet.

Erm - no.
I think you're missing the point. A-Wings are the *fastest* ship out there. That's their counter for having almost no armour/shields and mass... they're a cockpit with two freakin huge engines bolted on.
They're not hard to kill, you just need to learn to lead and play with throttle.
And to the above poster - that technique works but only in PvE. When they don't just fly in circles they'll pull tricks you don't expect. ![]()

Nag...nag...nag.
If other people can kill Tie Advanceds in a frickin' Y-Wing Longprobe, then you just need to practice.
