I just love arm chair developers who think it is easy to implement something into an MMO or any game for that matter. Just love reading these.. hahaha

I really think it would be sweet for guilds to own capital ships...take an imperial guild for instance.


They buy a star destroyer for 500k fp...then I think it should stay constantly out in orbit around a choosen planet and it can hold up to 25 players at any one time. Then if nobody is on it, it will automatically fire at rebel ships that get too close but the firing don't do as much damage and not as accurate as it would be if you had an actual gunner. Then to actually go someplace you need someone who is given permission to move it, then it would move slow and reach the end of say 'tatooine space' til it jumps to lightspeed. Then you are at corolia. It would be sweet. Plus I think you should be allowed to send in spies with a certain device with a 'tracker' type thing and if there are enough enemies there you should be able to order a bombardment where it just rains with enemy fire. of course the fire is not accurate but if it hits ya....There are tons of imperial captital ships and it can be just as fun with rebel, they can get mon cal ships or whatever that are alot faster but not as shielded or have as good as dmg.

oh and WookieIsshe , what i meant by kinda simple, is that the idea is simple but yeah simple things can take a bit to do and i dont expect this to come w/ launch

The last thing I want to see is wall to wall moc cal's and ISDs. No matter what you say it will become like that sooner or later if players can own capital ships. I think players, or guilds for that matter should be able to own any capital ships.

My idea is tohave a shuttle that you have to board on the ground, that takes you up to your capital ship, and when you reach space you are on board the actual vessel. Maybe have a required number of people in your group to board the shuttle. Also only guild leaders should be able to buy them, and a minum amount of people required to fly the ship.

i agree with razael that its prob better to do after launch or else it will first off take them longer to come out w/ JTLS and thats the last thing i want. and second they will have more time to do it right then trying to rush it w/ launch.


as for alot of them flying around, all you have to do is place a few checks, perhaps like someone said only guild leaders can buy, and there can only be 1 per guild, also to make it so only guilds who really want it get it, make it so it cost a ton of FP and that would be jsut for schem, then you would need to get components that only drop off hard mobs

JediKnightCZ...did you notice I typed "for example?"Although that is quite a few people...maybe the Super Star Destroyers should be limited to NPC's? After all, there weren't really even that many of them.

HQs = meaningless little headquarters for your little group who want to pretend to be meaningful to the Empire or Rebellion.

this is a rediculous idea, for a few reasons


1. its not as simple as saying "it should be like this". if you have had any experience in game programing you would know that the devs are severely limited due to immense coding requirements of such tasks.


2. all we need is 30 player capitol ships surrounding spacestation waiting to gank every opposing faction member as they spawn.


3. capitol ships are just WAY too big for any player or group of players to own/maintain/operate

What I would like (thanks to info from others here) is to allow 1 capital ship per person, limit the size of the capital ship to something small (Corellia Corvette would be the maximum size), and make it immoble (just like faction HQs). A schematic for it would be obtained from a faction recruiter with faction points or from a criminal (at locations like Jabba's palace) for cash. These schematics could then be taken to a shipwright to be build.

plz read all that has been posted before trash talking it, if you had you would notice i talked about checks to make sure there arn't loads flying around, as for what i mean of when i say like HQ im refering it to the closest thing that is currently in the game however you would be able to pilot it and use it for raids, also if u read numariah i mentioned what i meant by simple is that the "IDEA" is simple i know programming is harder then the idea but you DO need an IDEA to start with and from there programming is much easier then starting with NO IDEA... and btw there should also be very costly maintenance, and if its not at 100% the ships hp and shield would be lowered makeing it easy to destroy (this would be another check)

I'm sorry (no flame meant on you here ) but if they made a ship immobile, wouldn't that defeat the purpose? The point of all of those capital ships was for the transportation and defense of armies to different planets as well as actual combat between other ships. So making one immobile just doesn't make sense in my mind. Besides, it would be really cool to get every Imperial and rebel on you server together for one huge fleet battle!
