To all the true pikemen (and women), I feel your pain. I had no idea this was such a messed up prof. When I used my 2nd holo and drew pikeman I was not alarmed. Even in polearm brawler I was not alarmed. I am Now 0/2/2/2 and I am so alarmed it's not funny. My personal record for consecutive misses is 8. This was at actual pikeman and not brawler. This prof would and could be a very cool experience but sadly it is not. I will drop this gimped out thing soon as I master. It's no fun compared to my other toon with tka/pistoleer. I dont think a master pikeman could take me 1 v 1 no buffs. I think he wud pass out from missing standing in front of me. Maybe if I went prone he could drop the weapon on my head. Seriously though, this is messed up and needs to be fixed regardless of what I do with my toon. This is a prof that needs a basic fix not just tweaking. It could be soooo **edit** fun if it was balanced. I have done 1h and 2h as well along the way and this is by far the worst of the brawlers. I have to be buffed at all times b4 a chuba incaps me. As it stands, I will grind then quit. I hope for everyone who wants to be a Pikeman that they fix this prof asap. Luck to u all.

All you noobers to the pike profession read that post and you will again understand why time and time again it has been said on these boards not to use a long vibro axe until you get up the tree quite a bit. Use a vibro lance (at the very most) for most creatures unless they have high electricity resist in which case use the basic lance. I know it sucks for damage but at least the bloody thing hits the target most of the time.

I think that thing about fencer is a little......untrue.... A fencer can take out one teras kasi if the teras kasi doesnt spam unarmed hit3. I am near master fencer and If a fencer could take out 5 teras kasi guys.....they must have been really crappy. Teras Kasi's have so much accuracy that the dodge doesnt help too much...even with Master Pistoleer/Master Fencer the guy would of dodged maybe 1/2 attacks but with fencers low attack, he probably wouldnt even take out one, before he was down.

I have seen many new pikemen lately. Almost everyone using a LVA. I mention that they might be more successful with a good lance. They all say, "But this lance does 5 million damage!" Ok, but you have to hit the target first. 1 out of 5 with LVA, or 4 out of 5 with the lance. Should be an easy choice, but the lure of big damage, puts a lot of pikes on the ground.

the new lva with -35 range mod is quite good . When u have the second box in support u wont miss a lot with it. Change ur pole else use VL

I'm a Teras Kasi Master. I practice-dueled with a new Master Fencer. She could macro 2 bleeds and then Center of Balance, and I was helpless. Could not land a hit; spamming KD2 just took my HAM down faster. She didn't even have to hit me after that, I'donly last a minute or so. After 3 duels, I was able to knockdown her once (and since I spammed it, the next KD2 move knocked her back on her feet I tried spamming unarmed hit 3, also...but not being able to hit her means nothing works. So, I believe the tale of the 5 TKAs, because Fencer's dodge + COB = 0 hits. (If this was 5 TKAs at once...maybe I don't believe that, but I doubt they'd have problems with 2 or even 3.)

Its not untrue Johnnyboy its true, to many people dont relize how strong a Fencer is especially at master lvl, a fencer with COB up is pretty much unhittable let alone cant knock em down. IF there also a pistoleer they you are guaranteed to be screwed b/c with the combined def mods they have 210 dodge, 100% kd resist its insane. TO many people think TK TK TK but thats just b/c there are SOOOO many TK's in the game. When I started TK it was like 3 I knew of on tat now its like a zillion. I personally am omw up the fencer tree and so far its a blast to lvl.

Yes there are way to many TKMs compared to other melees, but why? They must be good.


However, I think if you are gonna go melee go all the way do and master several and dabble in the rest.


First off master Brawler, this will make the climb so much easier. YOu have lunge 2 which is a kd for every weapon you can use. That and Warcry 2 and you have a mob down for 20 secs.


However, I like fencer and brawler and this is why. I seem to get pulled into PvP everyso often and I pull out my stun baton (great against composite) and land dizzy. As the enemy runs away I do lunge 2 ( can be out to 15m, doesnt matter) and down they go and they arent going back up. Now this is PvP so the guy you dropped is buffed and has 2-3k health and other ppl are shooting you and trying to save their downed buddy. You need to kill him fast. So,you look into your bag of brawler tricks and pull out the old Power Hammer and wail on his head targeting his mind pool (as long as he has no helmet). If he has a helmet then keep the stun baton and spam specials like body hit. Use your strenghts against his weakness.


I am only Master Brawler and 0/0/0/2 in TKA, 0/0/1/0 in Fencer, novice swordsman and novice Pikeman. I plan to go Master Brawler 4/3/0/4 in TKA, Master Fencer, 0/0/4/0 Swordsman, 0/0/4/0 PIkeman. This will give me all the def mods and the great things about TKA. I plan to use the Fencer to attack but have the option to use an action or mind targeting attack with the my swordsman or pike skills. Keep in mind I will only use these when my target is dizzied and knocked down. Well, I have ranted on long enough but be sure to get doc buffs and dancer and muscian buffs (muscians are hard to find) and have lots of mind food/drink and muon gold for emergency encounters with BH.


Also, have the right type of armor, I have a PvP and PvE set. My PvE is obviously kinetic and the PvPis a mix of acid, heat and energy layered pieces.


I feel so UBER when I have all the buffs and my PvP armor on with my stun baton. I know once I land dizzy they will eventually fall and then it is over, I like switching to a power hammer to smash their weak mind pools. But to each their own. But this is the template I am after. I hope to do great things with it.

Well, I am bored.


I also made some changes to my stats. I used stat migration to minimize all my secondary stats and put it into willpower. My willpower is now at 700. I want this as it will get targeted and cant be healed (no CM friends, boo hoo). I dont like taking muon gold unless I need to to put on my helmet, lol. But after the first downer I wont use it again until my pool is very low and my enemy verry happy. Then Bam, I have muon gold loaded in my tool bar or whatever it is called. I have instant 500 mind pool points and to foucs and willpower. YAY. Good for me, bad for them.


I am tired now but dont want to sleep. I want to rant more.


So,you must take everything into consideration. I know if I go PvP it is gonna be in Moneia to kill rebels. I know rebels love to have learn the flamethrower branch of commando. I know they like BH and they love to fight dirty (dirty = smart, I just dont want to admit it). So, I know for a fact that as I beat my helpless victim as they lay prone on the ground unable to defend themself that a flamethrowing rebel will torch me. But I am buffed and got my buffs with 0 bf so they are all over 2k each. I can take a few rounds of Flame 2. I have novice medic and one box of first aid, if need be, I will toss a heal on myself and once my foe on the ground is now laying in a puddle of his own piss and blood I will run into the swamp and put out the fire. I will have about 700 points worth of wounds but eady enough. I still have close to 2k worth of Health. I then kill whoever is left in the same fashion. I like to go for BH first as they will spam eye. In the chaos of the opening moves I am able to get close enought to land dizzy and then lunge 2. (Make sure you have an Acid layered composite helmet at a minimum, should give you 80% resist to acid which is the damage type of the BH scatter pistol).


Have food and drink and constantly take them, that means you will have to go click on your bar to eat or drink but it is needed. The foods/drinks I like are for the mind. I need to keep my mind high as it is the weakest link. I can heal health and action with ease but not mind. Remember I have 700 willpower and am using the mind buffing food/drinks. Then the muon gold as a last resort ( have the dancer buff as a min. too, if luck I have a muscian buff too).


Remember if you are in your home town and it gets raided. Those raiders are buffed silly and are on spice and eating and drinking. THey did come there to die. So remember that when you decide to declare and "prutge" the invader. Get a quick doc buff at least and take your food/drink buffs and have the muon ready.

Hmm, I've only mastered TKM and brawler so far for melee, but just looking at the skills and mod. I think the fencer has a advantage more in pvp or atleast should be if all mod are working. Good dodge, ok melee and range defense... great kd, dizzy, blind defense etc. A TKM isnt easy to hit but would imagine fencer is harder to hit (plus hearing others comment on fencer being hard to hit) plus with a higher kd and dizzydef mod then a tkm, who do you think going to end up on there back quicker with trouble getting upeven though fencer would have to use 2 moves. I'm sure some fencers have owned tkm and some tkm's have owed fencers. I'm myself have only owned swordmans and pikemen. Fencers seem to be more rare so I havent had a chance to duel one or cared to duel at the time. Swordman's missed (ones with hammer)or just didnt get enough damage in before theyended on the back from kd or just incapped (Most fights I did without useing kd). As far a pikemen... I didnt even use any specials so that was a good laugh, but I have seen master pikeman do nasty damage in pvp. (I'm sure they going to fix the pikemen's aim atleast alittlebetter or some are just useing some weapons with bad aim.).

Those who actually use their hands claim that TKA is great for the dizzy/KD and the huge damage output. i am sorry but it appears that you have been playing a different SWG than the rest of us.


TKA has been the best brawler classs in every aspect since day one they have been and still are the fastest, they have been until recently the most accurate (the last big patch nudged fencer past them but they are still a close second), they have the highest dps (their vibro knuck are like 2.1 spd (with speed mods they can hit the 1 sec speed cap on every special though) 70-170ish with a good dmg slice and they also get like +250 unarmed damage mods, they can target any HAM pool, they have a straight knockdown (fencers can knockdown also but it takes two moves that both have to 'stick', which also means that they take 2 seconds to KD someone where TKA can do it in half the time. need i go on?


if you check the fencer borads there are a ton of posts asking "how to beat those pesky TKA's that are always kicking my a**."


or sometimes you see a post 'YAY! I BEAT MY FIRST TKM TODAY!!...(after weeks of trying)'

I am pretty sure kd, dizzy or any of those defenses only work when the weapon is equiped. I am not 100% sure, but it was something the pistoleer corespondant said. Fencer gets the most melee and ranged defense, and I think they get the same amount of dodge as does swordsmen get counter attack.

I am a master rifleman and swordsmen, I can say I have never seen block work on my character, counter attack works about half the time on a tkm when using CoB, and about 90% of the time on anyone with poor acurracy. With about 70 melee defense a TKM still never misses me. After about 5 or so TKM duels they are countered about half the time, but never miss. Well swordsmen don't reach the speed cap with specials on all there weapons, with about a 3 speed weapon we get to hit about every 2 seconds with our hardest hitting specials. Our attacks are not varied, we do AoE posture down attacks. We do have one dizzy attack which is two-handed area attack 3, it says blind, but it is dizzy. Also two-handed hit 3 does dizzy. We do some nice damage, takes about 2 hits with a good hammer in the same HAM pool to drop someone that is non buffed not wearing composite. Composite can be a slight problem, but we are one of the classes that does not have to worry much about it. That is what I have seen using my character.
