If you want to treat your crafting profession as a hobby, that's fine.. but don't claim you are running a business when your business is 'charity'.
Yes it is a business, but if you can't compete with the SWs that are mining I would sugest closing up shop. The people who are mining will always have a lower overhead than those that have to buy from miners.
The same things happen in the real world of business. Take a look at Walmart they offer products at lower prices than a lot of other stores that have high overhead. Those stores have to either lower their overhead or go out of business.

No the point of making money is to make sure everyone buys your product.
A mining shipwright can do that better than a buying shipwright as he spends less cash on the stuff he needs.

Dude seriously you got some serious problems...I'm just glad you play on Eclipse, and i feel bad for anyone that deals with someone so obsessed with making fake money, i hope you have a real job
Dude, seriously, what is the point of crafting then? Are crafters supposed to run missions to finance their harvesters or buy resources on the market and then give their waresto you? Does every crafter need a combat alt to finance them? Or sell them to you at their cost so it's as cheap as you can get it? The point of crafting is to make fake money selling fake goods!
Go tell a weaponsmith he's ripping you off for selling a VK for more than 100 credits. Or an armorsmith that he should sell youa suit of composite for5k, because that's what it costs to mine the resources themselves, with a little profit. Tell them to run missions if they want to make money.
The original poster has every right to price as low as he is. If I even do sell to the public I'd be selling starter-level ships for less than he has in his model (I have a sliding curve that prices entry level ship chassis at 12k to the level 6 ships at 750k). But expecting a shipwright to sell a YT-1300 that takes 150,000 resources to build for the sameprice as a suit of composite that takes about 4000 resources to build is unreasonable to the shipwright.
If you want a ship that cheap, grind to master shipwright and build it yourself.
You do know that it cost less to mine your own stuff than to buy it.
Answer me this... why in hell would I want to spend all that time becoming a shipwright if I can make 5x-10x as much money selling resources instead? Why would I spend all the time, money and resources to Master the profession if, at the end, I can count on consumers b*tching that the prices are too high when those same people (or their friends) will greedily slurp up all the resources I have for sale?
Seriously, the idiocy here is mind-boggling. You call people who want to sell ships for the fair market value of the resources used to build them "greedy", yet YOU'RE the ones trying get shipwrights to sell their work for FAR less than it's worth. Who's greedy now?
Oh, and Takiwa... you really need to learn about economics if you think that the seller dictates fair market value. In a free market economy the seller offers something at a price and if it doesn't sell he either lowers his price or goes out of business. The CONSUMERS dictate the value of a good or service by either buying or not buying that good or service. The prices for resources are the way they are because comsumers buy them at the prices they buy them at. If people stopped buying my resources at my listed prices then I'd get the hint that those prices were too high and lower them. Pretty simple, right?

How about I ask a very simple question instead of trying to explain how selling a finished ship for the fair market value of the materials is NOT greed.

It was due to this attitude that I quit crafting. I feel bad for crafters still doing it that have to deal with you guys. The point of the game is to have fun. If you think someone's over-charging, don't buy their stuff and keep looking. You don't have to make it personal.
