Okay, I havent read all 8 pages yet (will do that soon) but I read here and there and found this here:
Well, I have an Asus A7N8X-X mainboard and I experience similar problems:
own ship warping "back" sometimes
enemy ships warping
enemy ships being hit by me, which you can clearly see but no shield glowing and they don't take any damage... about 10 sec later or so they warp to a different location, seems the client didn't update the position properly. Network monitor shows ping of 169, no packet loss, everything seems fine but npcs warp as if I had packet loss or very high ping. Every other game is working fine as well as browsing websites. It's definitely not graphical lag because then the performance and FPS would go down which is not the case, it's really a position update/network issue.
I'm using a router along with WLAN, but now after I read this, I will launch the game on a different PC (Asus mainboard but different model, P4 something or so) with my account and see if it makes a difference. If it won't, I'll try the same on my laptop which doesn't have an Asus mainboard (at least I don't think so?).
Will report back here then.

Not sure how relevant this is, but I believe it's worth noting. All of the dxdiag's that had motherboards listed were versions of the Asus A7N8X motherboard, or equivilent Intel Asus motherboard. I myself have an A7N8X Deluxe motherboard and have the same problems with being unable to hit my target until the game "corrects" itself, which involves me warping back about 100m. Also during this time, I noticed my target dancing about using severe evasive manuvers. So, how many people who are experiencing this problem are running an Asus A7N8X motherboard or equivilent Intel Asus motherboard? My other system specs:

I must say that the response from the devs are underwhelming, not even a "hmm that's weird" from them.
Instead I see a lot of PAYING customers trying to figure this one out.
I smell a rat, and I don't like it, even if they don't belive it's their code that's causing this, why don't they say anything?
Not even Tiggs has said anything and she's usually fast when it comes to reassure us that a problem is being looked into yet the last time I saw anything about this way in jtl beta, since then nothing, zilch, nada...as far as the devs are concerned there doesn't seem to be any problem here, "move along, nothing to see" this worries me to no end.
Is it our imagination? Is it so severe a problem that SOE will go belly up if it comes out? Should I order a new tinfoil hat? I don't know because THE BLOODY DEVS WON'T ADRESS THE BLOODY ISSUE!!!!!!!
Well, I said earlier I'll give them a month to come up with fix before quitting the game and now it's that much closer.

I tried JTL last night and had no issues at all.
I have had the warping and can't hit enemies bug since JTL launched but not last night. I don't know if this is a one off. I didn't log out to try and see if it would come back. I didn't want to be disapointed so I just kept playing and managed to get to 1/1/1/1 in the freelance prof. I will try tonight and see if it comes back at all.
I had not done anything differant at all, just logged on as normal.
Fingers crossed.

Well, I just tried it again at a rather quiet time, not that many people around at this time, and it's still as bad as before.
Guess what, the other PC didn't have even ONCE that issue at the same time (and both are connected to the internet the exact same way).
Seems there is really some conflicting hardware thing causing this issue...
I'm surprised no dev has asked for the difference between these two PCs yet (such as dxdiag stuff or so) since we finally have proof that it seems to be dependent on what hardware you are using.
Anyways, here's a few details about the PCs:
PC 1 (the one with the lag issue described in this thread):
Windows XP SP 1 (German)
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800+
Mainboard: Asus A7N8X-X (NForce chipset)
RAM: 1,5 GB (DDR) (accidently typed 1024 in my previous posting, that was wrong, sorry)
graphic card: Radeon 6800 Pro
sound card: SBLive! 1024
Controller: MS Sidewinder Force Feedback non-USB (active: yes, ff active: no)
connection: Netgear WG311v2 WLAN card connected to a WLAN router/ADSL combined modem (768 kbit downstream, 128 kbit upstream)
DirectX version: 9.0c
ran fullscan: yes
PC 2 (not lagging *once*):
Windows XP SP 1 (German)
CPU: Intel Celeron 2.2 GHz
Mainboard: Asus P4S533-X (SiS chipset)
RAM: 1 GB (DDR)
graphic card: Radeon 6800 Pro (same model as in PC 1)
sound card: on board sound (AC97)
Controller: MS Sidewinder Precision Pro 2 USB (active: yes, ff active: no)
connection: same as PC 1 (yes even same WLAN network card)
DirectX version: 9.0c
ran fullscan: yes
What does this tell you?

And no improvements in sight.
Slowly I wonder what I bought JTL for if I can't even play in space really.

Can anyone provide a link to where TH said that this was a priority? I'm hoping maybe we can gain a little more insight by seeing exactly what was said.

I have the same problem here, the game is totally unplayable, i can't hit ships and can't make xp or missions. I've noticed that the warp and rubberbanding in the last 3 days is increased, but could be only an impression. Tryed all the things suggested in this forum without success.
Mobo: Abit NF7-S 2.0 (latest bios)

Processor: AMD 2600+
RAM: 1GB DDR
Control Device: Logitech Freedom 2.4 (latest drivers)
OS: Windows XP Home SP2 (fresh install)
I'll try the TC in the next few hours.
