And hopfully it will also have the ability to fly directly into the sun without its users consent...
I am very excited that it is going to use a more "twitchy" style of combat, that will make it a billion times more fun. I know a lot of people who would love that, and I also know a lot of people who left the game because ground-based combat lacked the "twitchy" aspect and they found that to be boring. I'm pretty positive that the SE will bring them back to the game, especially with "twitchy" dogfighting style space combat. The devs couldn't have made a better decision to do that and try to emulate TIE fighter and X-Wing, the best space games ever. And Haden did say that your characters skills would make a difference, to all you "twitchy" haters out there.
Am I still seeing STARS shining THROUGH the planets? Please tell me I'm seeing things. It's one thing to see them in the sky on planet surfaces, but in space?
Seems to me that if you're gonna put all that hard work and effort into making such detailed cockpits and models of starships that the LEAST you could do is fix the planet/stars problem. :/
Other than that I'm very impressed! If it's ANYTHING like TIE Fighter was, it'll be solid gold. And even though I'm not gonna put it in the form of a question, I'm still wondering what OTHER ships will be available and how well they'll balance these ships. Personally, I'd like to see starship customization be the key to a ship's overall fighting power. But at the same time, I don't want only combat ships. I want a transport ship, so that (me being an artisan and all) if I have to move, I can put everything that's in my house into my ship, pick up the house, then go to my new planet home.
Anyways! Looks great can't wait to buy it!
All I can say, is Q3Po can you tell us if there will be joystick support? Cause well I can have time to brush up on my dogfighting skills

--> Concern over the fact that Haden ducked one of IGN's questions:
IGNPC: Where do ships reside? Is there a special docking area on each planet? Some sort of sub-orbital hitching post? Do players actually take off and land manually or does the game just warp the player between the planet surface and the stars?
Haden Blackman: Craft are stored on a player's datapad, similar to the storage of vehicles in the base game. Players deploy ships at Starports that currently serve as shuttle depots in the more populated cities.
Notice that Shug responds to the first part of the IGN question, but dodges the second part. As others have already posted, I'm very concerned that you will /deployShip out of your Datapad, right click on the ship, choose "Enter Ship," and then sit through another 30 to 60 second loading screen while "space loads."
Please let us fly out of, and land in, spaceports!!!
I hope so, too.... why not allow for combat in the atmosphere as well?

We aren't going to open a forum for the new expansion until around E3 (in May). But I figure I ought to give you a thread so you can start discussing the current info. Right now, you can check out the first interview about Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed on IGN. There are some screenshots there as well. Expect to see more tomorrow on the official site! I don't want to do a forum yet because the Devs can't really talk about it yet and I'm sure you all have a ton of questions.
Enjoy!
LOL
The devs = Thunderheart?
When has the communication ever been "great" between the developers and the forums?
I cancelled my SWG account (July is my last month) because I realize that you all take entirely too long to fix the GCW bugs, all the in-your-face bugs, simple bugs, and you all won't add A LOT MORE "Star Warsy"feel into the game.

Also, combat fixes and profession fixes are months if not years away!
I hope I'm wrong.
However, if SWG is any indication of what to expect with the space expansion... expect the following:
- In-your-face bugs that take 6 months to NEVER to getfixed.
- POI Waypoints that destroy the possiblity for exploring (ie. the "explorers" are left out all together).
- Very simple combat... click, click, PWNED.
- No "Star Wars" vibe.
- Bugs, bugs, bugs.
I hope I'm wrong.
I hope that there is a ton of ships, mood vibe all over it, space craft (cities) in space, areas to defend, hidden planets, ability to board other ships in space, planet starports are replaced with user space flight, players are able to "ride together" in their ships, players are able to land on planets or asteroids, and a couple of new planets are introduced with no POI waypoints.
If I'm cynical, it's due to my past experience.
p.s.
If you all want me to beta test, send me a Private Message (for honest feedback).

Well i guess you really havent played many online games befor. Fixing some things take time, even if they have to rework the whole thing they need to fix. And dont forget that the devs have fixed many bugs. The bugs that you want fixed might not be on the top if the list, but they will get fixed. Now for the GCW and its problems will be focused on in a few publishes, but i think the devs want the combat/profession fixes first to see where they need fixes on the GCW.
Well if you want to go, its your choice. I guess we will have more fun.
Overall, SWG has great graphics and anice interface.... I'm just not going to pay to wait. Wait for forprofessions fixes, wait formore ofa "Star Warsy" feel to the game, wait to see if they can stop poison attacks through walls, wait to see if they can everhandle thespammers, wait formore content, wait for the space expansion,etc.etc.
I can wait withoutpaying a monthly fee.
I may return for the space expansion.
How about you can only call your ship @ the starport you landed at? Then we can pretend they are stored underground there. Otherwise it'd be nice to be instanced by Lt. Lance to a faction hangar.
Here's hoping we see the YT-2000 of XWA fame, a Ghrtoc 580 or 720 and maybe a YT-2400 like Rendar's.
