I apologize if this has already been suggested, but I don't have time to read all eight pages of the thread right now.


I'd like to see player cities in space.

Well, not really. The way I envision it, each player city would be its own modularly-constructed space habitat, the city hall and hangar being the hub and various-sized house and city enhancement modules added on after. Each module would have to be built separately, much likehouses do now, and the hub would have a limited number of connecting points to add modules onto. To add modules beyond the hub limit, a separate hub and connecting strut would have to be constructed and added on externally, thereby providing expandability without worrying about how to incorporate more units into a previously existing, limited-spaceinternal framework. Player habitats that have the "Stronghold" city enhancement could incorporate turrets and shield generator modules to protect returning starfighters, though these particular modules could be destroyed. Taken a step further, Stronghold habitats could have vulnerability times (which could be changed just like those on a faction base)during which the hubs and city enhancement modules themselves could be destroyed (though I would suggest allowing house modules to revert to a deed -with all items inside remaining intact- in this instance), thereby giving tangible results to raids, much like destroying a faction base does in the ground-based game.

so what kind of resorces will be needed to make this ships? are they going to need the types we already have or is the space expation going to give a whole new set of resorces to be harvested to make these ships? and besides getting a free ship to start with when you want to buy a new one or upgrade it whats going to be your guess on pricing? I would hate to see people take advantage of this upgrade and charge people a arm and a leg to have a small little ship. We already getted jipped on prices of alot of things in the game as it is. I think they should set a max price on things already in game and new things coming in game.


But so far everything sounds so exciting i just hope i don't get bored with the game before the expantion get here.


Everyone who is working hard on this Keep Up the Great Work!!!! I can't wait to play the game. I wish i just could Be able to play a demo and help find buggs I seem to always find them in the current game. (which i might add becomes very annoying so you get lots of issues from me already)

Quick question Shug, will player cities be given starports in time for Jump to Lightspeed's launch?


I think this would dramaticallyraise the importance of PC cities in the game.

I heard it remarked that shuttles and/or transports were supposed to be a temporary solution until the space expansion. Will player starships wholly replace NPC transports or will they remain in place? It could create an interesting market for passenger pilots.


If you want a second multi-passenger ship, I suggest the Ghtroc freighter. According to the EU it's a very popular frieghter about on par with the YT-1300.


Will the new species be exclusive to owners of the space expansion, or will people who have no interest in space combat be required to purchase the entire expansion just for the new species?


How will space and ground combat interact? Will it be possible/necessary either through player actions or through missions to stage a two-pronged attack similar to the assault on the death star II where both ground and space forces play a role? How about faction perks for ground combat like orbital bombardment / bombing runs that can be disabled through space combat.


Are any of the space craft available to more than one of the piloting professions? Especially the YT-1300, as it is currently the only multi-passenger ship guaranteed at launch. Are any craft available as rebel, neutral or imperial depending on profession?


How will smugglers interact with the space expansion? Any ideas yet?


Since the YT-1300 is decoratable, therefor can be used as additional storage, are you planning on making multi-passenger ships or any ships require player lots? If so this would off-set the increased database load the additional storage would create and provide an alternative trade-off for being a pilot other than skillpoints which would keep everyone and their mother from flying around in a starship.


Can we have landed starcraft as a placeable character structure? Even if they lacked any functionality besides decoration, this would be awesome.

all sounds very good.the only thing that concerns me is that with the move from an RPG based system,where a ping of 100-200 is actually playable,to a realtime system,how do you plan to counter the problem that most people i know,me included,never get below about 100?with such high latency a real time game is out of the question of being enjoyable for me,such games demand a stable and low ping.Not the regular 130-600 with packet loss i see,and many of my friends experiance.


We all live in england by the way,and this is on the european servers.

So when is an actual expansion coming out?


This doesn't expand the game I'm playing, it's just another game played in parallel through the same login server.


New planets or more surface area for existing planets...

New stuff and places to hunt...

Fixes or enhancements of existing professions...

New structures for current planets and environments...


Anything that would enhance the existing game?
