Thread: Shug's E3 Report and Rumor Control

I have seen the question, but not the answer, so maybe I can get this cleared up. Who will be able to fly what ships, will they be faction controlledi.e. rebels can't fly tie fighters or imperial shuttles or will ones choice of ship not be directed by ones faction? Which then begs the crafting question of will the ships shipwrights can build be controlled by their faction affiliation, i.e. rebel faction shipwrites can only build rebel ships? And if this is to be the case then what about neutral players, what will they be able to craft and fly.

Either way i am excited, and ready to install the expansion.

This is kind of tied in with JTL. I really, really enjoy all the ideas that are going into JTL, and we are getting 4 new professions, and 2 new races. And I dont want to seem like I'm being ungrateful, and this really isn't a big deal, I'm just asking, but what is the word on any new planets? Is there even any ideas on new planets?Let it be said though that I would definately like to have JTL before a new planet, but I was just curious if that was even a possiblity?

thanks for you time,

Tonth

yes, when SWG first came out i think they had planned a couple new planets when the expansion would come out. But currently I think they trimmed it down to just 2 new species and then of course the whole space-combat thing too.

Sounds awesome... I wonder what will become of mayors though... will we get to maybe become some kind of politician in space or something?... maybe be able to govern a space station? Maybe that is what they are saving the Master box for....I guess that remains to be seen...

Pretty sure this doesn't belong here yet, and hopefully itcan be addressed at a later date if it doesn't get answered here but: WHY do the ships have trails following them from the wing tips (what happens when something is moving fast through an ATMOSPHERE). Hopefully before the beta is done and the game launches this effect will be taken out as it has no place in space.

It seems blindingly apparent that most of the PvP Combat discussed thus far in the Space xpansion has concerned Rebels vs. Imperials. What about mercenaries?

There are several WELL KNOWN pirate/criminal organizations and countless other mercenary groups across the galaxy. Are they not to take part in Pvp combat?

From what I have seen of the new profession trees it "feels" as if Imperial or Rebel pilots will be "superior" in dogfighting ability than "basic" pilots (and I assuem that if you are a 'mercenary' you can only use the Basic Pilot tree). What this tells me is that the developers consider the onyl "good" PvP combat as being Imp vs. Rebel. And once againw e are brought to the black and white world of SWG PvP activity. Imp or Reb...there is nothing else.

dude panzergr read the post then think then reread shug said that there a three piloting skill tree and it depend on which route you want. they are not going to making rebel be the kick butt tree cause then you have fotw for space like we have now for proffession

what will happen is the privatter will have ship that are just as good as the rebela and imp ok

has been discussed in a different thread. the wing streamers are client turn offable. (is that a word?) so yes you don't need to see the streamers

I have a question. What will happen if I log out in my starship? I ask only because, for whatever reason, I will get disconnected from the game and was curious because sometimes it takes me several minutes to come back.

Hey Shug, thanks for all this info, it helps quell the rumor-mill a bit... Not sure if this has already been asked but will people who do not have the Space Expansion be able to travel as passengers in the YT-1300? Obviously they won't be able to own or fly their own ships without one, or even be able to man the gunner seats, butare theygoing to beable to go along for the ride? Thanks

Can someone other than the owner of the YT-1300 be the pilot? For instance, can the owner man a turret and let someone else fly?

Looking at this from a PVP aspect, make so if someone is in a Tie Figher and someone in an X-Wing they are considered overt. Don't have it so, a tie fighter pilot has to consentually agree to a fight with an x-wing pilot. WE CHOSE OUR FACTION NOW LET US FIGHT OUR WAR and not just stand around together politely and waiting for someone to go overt. The only people that should have to go overt in the first place are neutrals.

You guys made a good story covery being covert and overt on planets. I can see how someone on Imperial or Rebel faction can be covert and not be attacked. That the player doesn't know that the person is of a different faction. But in the space expansion you someone in an x-wing and someone in a tie-fighter can not be covert... they can't hide what faction they are in this way...

IF you are going to do the overt/covert bs in the space expansion make it so you fly a merc ship while covert and you are always overt in a factional ship like the tie fighter or x-wing. Thats actually a good idea.
