If I knew what I knew today I would have bought a second account and made it into a krayt-killing nightsister-slaying template and grinded nonstop.
What I did before the CU was realize that we didn't know what was coming once it went live. It's not like you can go off what they tell you as it changes so much. Long before I even unlocked I used my main who was an old-time melee-stacker to hunt Krayts. We'd go out a few hours everyday and did so until all our present and future Jedi had a good stock of pearls. Once I unlocked I continued to hunt Krayts with my alt knowing that things could not possibly stay this good so I "got while the getting was good" and hunted Krayts to extinction.
As a result, I ended up with a lot of pearls, some crappy tunes, and a near-perfect set that allowed me to grind and survive under the old systems. I guess for me it was like stocking up before a hurricane. You know it's coming, it might miss you, but just in case it doesn't, it's good to have the supplies you need before the store runs out.

Do you honestly believe there's veteran Jedi who believe a "Good" pearl can get a perfect tune?
I do not believe they are THAT noobish. Pre-CU you had to run through maybe 20-30 PREMIUMS to get a good saber, and the first thing I learned was that even Quality pearls where not worth the inventory space, so people made their alt's into krayt/nightsisterkillers and farmed premiums/flawlesslike crazy.Come on, everybody know this.
There's a real reason they dont want the rest to have access to what they have.
Fear...
A lack of trust in their own capabilities.
When they lose their better-equipment handicap all their comments about them being a "skilled pvp player" would be handed to them by players who really have the skill.
They do not know if it's thanks to them or their saber they win fights, so they know thatif everybody player have an equal chance, they fear they will start to lose... alot... and quickly drop back into being a nobody. And that can drive many players to sacrifice their credibility as an old-timer and make absurd claims like "Sure you can tune a good tune with a Good pearl" on the forum (which is like saying things like "Sure there are force-boosting food" or "My friend saw this holorecording and died after 7 days" or make up other kinds of insane urban legends that speak directly against all knowledge, the official F.A.Q's, and all common sense).
Also many of theese players know they have a golden ticket to the top right now, and they want that free ride once the FRS is re-enabled.
Many of theese players have taken every advantage they ever could to reach the top, and you better believe it, everything to using the best and most extreme grindtactics and flightclubs. And now they are accusing everybody else, becouse somewhere inside they feel ashamed.
Do anybody actually believe someone can grind a Jedi in 2 weeks? Are you REALLY that stupid to believe that crap? Or are you just trying to convince yourself that you are better becouse all the shortcuts you took was "better" and more "honorable"?
I have always said the best way to cut down the Jedi population is to look for Selfish posts on the forum. A true Jedi should not be selfish or greedy. Boot thoose and we improve our genepool, erase alot of childish attitudes and also improve our reputation amongst non-jedi.
And it also cut short some urban legends that dumbs down the community.
Anyway: Next time you see someone claiming "I have a perfect saber, go tune "good" ones", remember that he will be the first one put against the wall when the premiums start to drop again - and they know it.

Why not? Every ranged profession can easily have thier uber Krayt/gorax/Power Cells weapons. Why can't every jedi have their high level weapons too.
I think melee professions got a huge shaft as far as quality weapon enhancers. Ranged weapons are already hitting thier damage SAC and speed caps no problem. Melee and jedi need to have the same opportunity. This is unfair you have to admit.
because regular proffessions dont have the defenses to stand up to increased saber damage ...it would again balance the game in the favor of jedi and prompt even MORE people to go jedi ... forcing the devs to nerf jedi even moreyou people have to learn to look into the future .. not just the here and now
Haven't read the whole thread, but this one stopped me...
Lets see... Jedi gain defenses from Defender... That is one out of a possible 5 skill investments. A MLS/Menh/Heaeler 4040 has near 0 defense. A MLS/MDef/Healer 3000/Enh 0002 has 200+ defesnse + Aura... You know what, a melee stacker can get well over 300 defenses + COB. It is all about skill point alocation. Not all jedi are defenders. You can sacrafice defense for other skills. If your character lacks defenses, you must have made sacrafices for healing or a stronger offense. If you want defenses, invest skill points. if you want healing, invest skill points. You want to hunt jedi? INVEST SKILL POINTS! You wear armor with no cost but credits, and have weapons that run around 80 SAC w/ 900+ Maxdamage AND are nearly speed capped. You are asking for people with ~95-115 SAC weapons, MAYBE 600 max damage, and all kinds of speed problems to have an even worse weapon? That is just sad. I don't think Jedi should be 'uber' on any level... But in PVP we should have a chance.
Now you are just another noob.

This post is a load of crap.
If all the new Jedi had actually planned their progress the way the old ones had to you would already have your pearls. The problem is that tons of people went from having six open FS lines to finished template in an amazingly short period due to Respecs and High XP groups. Once they finished though they realized that unlocking and grinding XP were only part of the reason Jedi is a tough profession. They found that being hunted and needing to have a good saber were also part of the devs grand plan for making Jedi "hard".
A saber with 4 +120 dmg pearls is an extremely rare weapon. While you like to act like everyone who finished Jedi pre CU has one, the truth is only the hardest core players have one. They earned theirs by tuning 200 - 500 pearls pearls, and had to kill thousands of dragons or buy the pearls with credits they spent thousands of hours earning. Now you want to have one after tuning just 20 or so pearls.
The older Jedi do not fear competition from the new Jedi, they want you to earn your saber like they had to.
You need to stop pretending that other Jedi fear you or want to keep you down and just face the fact that you have chosen a very ineffective template. That is why you die in pvp so fast, that and the fact that you have killed so few dragons that you do not warrant having a saber any better than yours currently is.

you did spur a thought though within me .... a lot of the new jedi dont realize how hard it was to hunt krayts PRE CU .. it took an hour just to spawn one .. now at any given time you have 30 krayts hanging around the graveyard and outlying regions .... plus they are a LOT easier to kill ...if it IS possible for "good" pearls to tune almost as well as premiums ( given the %'s of these are probably EXTREMELY LOW) .. the unavailability doesnt seem to be as much as a hmm whats the word ... injustice ! to new jedi as they claim it to be ..i am an avid krayt hunter been hunting them for a year .. i have gotten hoards of pearls and sold most of them ... and two days ago i did sell a pearl which tuned to 90 something damage and like -8 FC ... and a friend told me last night he tuned one to 100 damage -8fc .. not bad at all
No idea what the hell you are talking about. Pre-CU I was a swordsman/doc... I could dispatch a krayt in under 20 minutes and get either tissue or a qual/prem pearl... I would drive around for another *MAYBE* 5 minutes (after the krayt boom it took about 10 seconds) before finding another. With a group cut that time down. Post-CU you spend a little less time killing the krayt (Not our fault, I wish they were level 200+ honestly. I am a MDEF, so diff. level doesn't really get to me as I can take the hits. and before you complain about that statement, if I were to tank krayts in the graveyard, BH's could pick me off as soon as I was finished, so don't say we are overpowered) and now we have to share the main loot table for our weapons with smugglers since Krayts seem to enjoy eating high end blaster and armor components. IF we happen to loot a pearl, it is only "good" quality. I the last 3 I tuned ended up around the 40 / -3 mark. I had one go 32/-8. Awsome right? Pre-CU when hunting you could tune a quality on the field and get 90some / -7, I had a friend tune a flawless he paid 6mil for to 117 / -7 and it was "trash". Pre-CU Krayts loot was abundant.... Quality pearls sold for 2000-400k. Today good pearls are selling for 500k-1mil. All I am saying is that it is not the same "loot" game.
For the record, I have tuned around 50-60 pearls/crystals so far. These range from fair to premium. My best tune is a 99/-5 that I got on a prem crystal. My best pearl is around 92/-2.

i think you need a hug, and you also need to step away from the computer a bit and go get laid or something man. If you let a game that we pay for just as much as you do get to you, then you might want to consider taking a little time off and get out more....
besides, if you put a post CU player with the same stat sabers against a pre cu veteran of both non-jedi and jedi pvp then I highly doubt that the post cu player would win. It comes down to knowledge of a play system and older players have alittle more knowledge of pvp then the newest ones. Its nothing bad its just the truth, sooner or later one might become better suited for pvp but at this time its not just a perfect saber, its how you use your template.
You also make it sound like that the people you are referring to give two sh!ts about this, they took a chance with getting to where they wanted faster so they could enjoy the game. If some prefer to have 'morals' in a video game thats up to them, they can grind for 6 or 7 months while some are done in less then one month. Fightclubbing was one of these things, so was the warren grind. If you can do it, then do it. If you can't or won't because you personally feel its 'wrong', then dont complain.
take this and run with it a while, because pretty much every pre cu player will handle a post cu new comer with pretty much any template you throw at them. Jedi or not. Perfect tunes are not a question but since it seems to jump your guns, then complain all you want.

Crap you kidding?
In beta I saw this mess coming of get what you can when you can get it type thinking...
Due to watching things get nerfed before launch was a sign of this...
Then after launch and seeing it show up more then ever I was one that always planned and looted and hunted at the same time hoping that Jedi would be in the game...
So many loose ends in this now its not funny though that is for sure.
no need to punish us because we stocked up what we could before the CU hit....
i spent cash and grinding time (wasnt full template yet) hunting giant canyon krayts and ancient krayts with a guildie to get premium pearls because i knew they would be scarce to non existant after it hit.
dont blame us for planning ahead.
Bad post, generalising and basically saying because you couldnt be bothered earlier those that did and got their good sabers are generally crap.
It took god knows how many krayting trips, purchases and so on before i got my saber sorted and back pre CU it wasnt just 1 saber no i had 3.
1h
2h
polearm
Now for starters back then you had to have polearm to compete in jedi vs jedi in small scale PVP and it often paid off to have one for largescale PVP also. 1h saber was usually needed for switching to, to knock down someones mind so thats 2 sabers you pretty much HAD to have, i alays loved the 2h so i filled that one too.
Now from these 3 pretty decent sabers from pre cu i ended up with....*drumroll*.....1 decent sabers worth of pearls/crystals. The conversion process was not that good and alot of previously perfect tuned pearls/crystals became junk. So now i have my 1 decent saber and i pretty much earned it through either hunting myself or buying the bits.
As for everyone who complains, if you are a pre CU player you had the option of stockpiling pearls/crystals and everyone knows this and many people are now selling these for large amounts. Because you didnt think about it previously isnt an excuse it isnt a reason to whine at those who are in a better position. Now when and if they add the top end pearls/crystals back into the game it has been hinted that they may have to run another balance pass on sabers such as us old jedi have to bring them into some kind of line so not every jedi is running round with an uber saber.
The only jedi players i have real sympathy for are the jedi that started playing with no knowledge of what came before and never played the pre CU era.
As to whether pre CU jedi are scared of new jedi's skill and lording it over them with their pre cu weapons, go ask a rifleman with a damage/SAC capped Trandoshan rifle made with the best BH loot weapons components and pupped to kindly put down his uber weapon and use a standard model T21 and see what they say. Everyone would like the best weapons, not everyone can afford/has the time to egt the equipment for them. Its a fact of life so deal with it.
No idea what the hell you are talking about. Pre-CU I was a swordsman/doc... I could dispatch a krayt in under 20 minutes and get either tissue or a qual/prem pearl... dont tell me i dont know what im talking about i was there and hunted krayt every day ... you want to make like it was so easy back then ... but theres nothing you can say in argument to the fact that they are easier now .. and its a LOT faster to spawn them now ... if you dont remember driving around the desert for hours trying to spawn one you werent hunting them back in the day ..... and you loot a LOT more pearls from them now .. there was a time when ancients didnt spawn at all .. and only GIANTS dropped pearls ...now one inthree or fourdragons will drop a pearl.... ALL the dragons drop them... andanyone whos gone hunting since the CU has a "killed ancient krayt" badge ...
as far as master defender ... if your having problems in PVP with that template .. thats your own fault .. the player bounty system may be unbalanced in that you can be hunted at any time .. but there is NO way .. NO WAY AT ALL you can say ... that master defender isnt MORE than well enough equipped to take on ANY BH one vs ONE and win 80% of the time... if you have any grain of skill in PVP in your body you shouldnt fear non jedi templates in PVP....just the simple fact people refuse to duel me with non jedi templates log off and sign back on with their jedi to duel exclamates this point ....
as far as the premiumpearls they arent going to drop .. im not saying this to aggravate you .. but tiggs said herself and i agree with her 100% .. it would just unbalance the game again ... sure .. keep asking for premiums to drop ... i would actually be glad if they do .. because id know a nerf would be following a changeto that close by .. and it would make my job all the more easier ..
