Thread: Worth to remember: Real reason why some older Jedi make up rumours
- You have jedi were who were unlocking jediat 5 masteriers pre-pub6 wheras it was taking all 32 at the end of pub 9 and grinding in mad xp in the current system is a joke.
- You had jedi who were permadying wheras now there is now there is nopenalty for dying.
- You had a jedi that could get ganked by 5 melee BHs at once whereas now you're pretty lucky if you get 1.
- It took months to grind out a full template wheras now it takes you no time (and took you even less if you're a repec jedi).
- You had to have at least over 50-60 million credits in pearls (monetary-wise) in order to even get a decent saber due to the random tuning system.
- Allow Premiums/Flawless to drop at an extremely low rate (make it 10xs harder than pre-CU)/
- Nerf all existing sabers to the power of a post-CU (unprepared) jedi. (most likely going to happen).
Hooray.....
Haven't read the whole thread, but this one stopped me...
Lets see... Jedi gain defenses from Defender... That is one out of a possible 5 skill investments. A MLS/Menh/Heaeler 4040 has near 0 defense. A MLS/MDef/Healer 3000/Enh 0002 has 200+ defesnse + Aura... You know what, a melee stacker can get well over 300 defenses + COB. It is all about skill point alocation. Not all jedi are defenders. You can sacrafice defense for other skills. If your character lacks defenses, you must have made sacrafices for healing or a stronger offense. If you want defenses, invest skill points. if you want healing, invest skill points. You want to hunt jedi? INVEST SKILL POINTS! You wear armor with no cost but credits, and have weapons that run around 80 SAC w/ 900+ Maxdamage AND are nearly speed capped. You are asking for people with ~95-115 SAC weapons, MAYBE 600 max damage, and all kinds of speed problems to have an even worse weapon? That is just sad. I don't think Jedi should be 'uber' on any level... But in PVP we should have a chance.
if i invest in defense i loose healing .. if i invest in the ability to chew down Master defender health i loose ranged damage AND defense ...if i invest skillpoints to capitalize on alpha strike using distance and look for a root i loose defenseAND healing.. the same principles you are speaking of apply to bounty hunters .. but even MORE so .. because we are locked into having to get a master BH template to hunt jedi ... jedi arent locked into anything and can freely dabble ... they have the chance to diversify their templates MORE than we do .. andthe end result is more flexible strategies ..
its no secret why MOST Bh these days dont even hunt jedi .. and why most jedi arent good jedi hunters with their BH alternates .. you can pretend jedi as a proffession sucks all you want ... but your making yourself look bad .. because if you cant find a PVP niche with all the power the devs have already given you ... you wont ever find one ...and you seem to think because a saber's max damage is 600 or 700 thats all he will do to me? i have jedi consistently hitting me for over 1k damage easy ... i need serious slicing .. defensive foods ... and the best armor avilable to chew that down ... a good 1000 max damagecarb will only hit a jedi for300 points and still miss 40% of the time .. so dont cry me your bullcrap story about how jedi are so nerfed you guys cant do anything .. you people are power hungry ego vampires .. looking to get whatever edge you can in PVP .. thats the whole reason many of you have gone jedi in the first place ( not all but many ).. just for the edge in PVP over others ... get some real skill and play a REAL proffession .. a NON jedi proffession ....

I do not believe they are THAT noobish. Pre-CU you had to run through maybe 20-30 PREMIUMS to get a good saber, and the first thing I learned was that even Quality pearls where not worth the inventory space, so people made their alt's into krayt/nightsisterkillers and farmed premiums/flawlesslike crazy.Come on, everybody know this.
There's a real reason they dont want the rest to have access to what they have.
Fear...
A lack of trust in their own capabilities.
When they lose their better-equipment handicap all their comments about them being a "skilled pvp player" would be handed to them by players who really have the skill.
They do not know if it's thanks to them or their saber they win fights, so they know thatif everybody player have an equal chance, they fear they will start to lose... alot... and quickly drop back into being a nobody. And that can drive many players to sacrifice their credibility as an old-timer and make absurd claims like "Sure you can tune a good tune with a Good pearl" on the forum (which is like saying things like "Sure there are force-boosting food" or "My friend saw this holorecording and died after 7 days" or make up other kinds of insane urban legends that speak directly against all knowledge, the official F.A.Q's, and all common sense).
Also many of theese players know they have a golden ticket to the top right now, and they want that free ride once the FRS is re-enabled.
Many of theese players have taken every advantage they ever could to reach the top, and you better believe it, everything to using the best and most extreme grindtactics and flightclubs. And now they are accusing everybody else, becouse somewhere inside they feel ashamed.
Do anybody actually believe someone can grind a Jedi in 2 weeks? Are you REALLY that stupid to believe that crap? Or are you just trying to convince yourself that you are better becouse all the shortcuts you took was "better" and more "honorable"?
I have always said the best way to cut down the Jedi population is to look for Selfish posts on the forum. A true Jedi should not be selfish or greedy. Boot thoose and we improve our genepool, erase alot of childish attitudes and also improve our reputation amongst non-jedi.
And it also cut short some urban legends that dumbs down the community.
Anyway: Next time you see someone claiming "I have a perfect saber, go tune "good" ones", remember that he will be the first one put against the wall when the premiums start to drop again - and they know it.

The only jedi players i have real sympathy for are the jedi that started playing with no knowledge of what came before and never played the pre CU era.
- Even before we knew anything, I spent hours and hours trying to find the broken hero camps. (as it was rumoured that this might lead to jedi)
- When holos were first announced, i spent weeks obtaining my holos in the far corners of Dantooine killing thousands of FS Npcs. AndI mean thousands.
- I did 22 professions and 2 FS branches.
- I spent 6 months on Endor grinding wild lairs, 7km+ from the nearest outpost.
I thinkI have done a little work to obtain my Jedi, maybe a little less than some, maybe a little slower than some, but I was focused on my goal. I only finished my template a couple of weeks before the CU, and it was my intention then to work on Krayt pearls. Little did I know, or did anyone know that premium pearls would be removed from the game.
And if you did know this, I wish people would have spoken out about it louder
Do you really think I'd be in the situation I'm in now, if I'd know this?

Umm, 20-30 pearls? i def have 200+ premo/flawless pearls stocked that i haven't used since the cu came out (all rubbish pre cu tunes), out of them just over 15 went too 120damg -9fC. and atleast -0.25 speed.

Yes someone who gets it!!! You did not tune 20 pearls, you tuned 200. We h ad guild members who killed hundreds of krayts daily to get a perfect saber. 20 probably got you an 11 FC 400 max damage fourth gen. (and you needed nine back then at least now you can live with 25+ and channel...)

The OP did not say that 20-30 pearls would make a near perfect saber. She stated that"Pre-CU you had to run through maybe 20-30 PREMIUMS to get a good saber" So by you getting 15 almost perfect tunes out of 200 or so Premium and Flawless Pearls that means that approx 1 out of every 15 pearls you looted would be saber worthy. Post-cu Jedi would accept that considering that Premiums and flawless are extinct and the chances of getting such a tune out of a "good" pearl is well above 1 / 100.
I personally do not have perfect saber either, but at least I am lucky enough to have one that can protect me from BH and have fun with in PVP and PvE. I hunt Krayts on occassion still and out of at least 100 post-CU goodpearls, about the best I have tuned is about94 -3 fc and.13 speed. To me that is a crap tune.
I know Jedi that are almost full template that do not have a saber with max damage above 550 and then when you factor in the 30+ fc, how are they supposed to be able to survive a BH attack with all the fully capped weapons that are readily available to them.
I would also like to rant a little before I go to work.
I am constantly reading how "some" of the post-cu Jedi think they deserve to have perfect sabers and that the rest of the Jedi can (assomeone stated in a previous thread) "go to hell". You follow this ignorant statement with something like..."I have been playing since day one, I mastered 5983 professions before I became Jedi, and once I did, I solo grinded crazed Gurrecks on Endor for 14 months before I was full template. We had Saber TEF / Perma Death to deal with....blah blah blah...."
What some ofyou fail to comprehend, infact what some of you lack the mental capacity to understand......is that PRE-CU WAS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAME. Then all I keep hearing is how new Jedi do not deserve to have a decent saber becausetheir grind was easier becasuethey can grind in groups, were able to use respec or that they got double xp. The players used what SOE gave them in order to reach whatever goal they were aiming for. Whether it be Master Rifleman / Master BH / or Jedi.Quit hating the newer players for someting that SOE gave them and do not say that when you started the Jedi grind that if you were given double xp or respec's back then that you would have taken advantage of it as well.
All everyone is asking for is the same opportunity Pre-cu Jedi had, and that is the chance to loot the primary component for their saber so they can be viable in all forms of combat. They pay the exact same amount of money per month as you in order to play this game. So quit thinking you are almighty because you have played longer than them, because you are not. /endrant and flame away

Though I agree with many of your points, pre-cu a saber that was 'good' did not cut it. Post cu a saber that is good will be fine, which is probably why they left good in and took premium out.

Maybe I was just lucky but when I joined the game one of the first things my friends told me was to obtain pearls and crystals if you ever want to become a jedi.
So, needless to say I hunted dragons solo and in groups (not just guild hunts) a lot with my master doc rifleman. As for uber gear... nope
T-21max damage slice with damage pups (used to buy crates of 20 for 500k and keep damage sliced ones)
Armor 150k - 200k basic crappy comp
Doc buffs N/A
Foods & Drink - Got for free off guildies mainly
Sometimes if i was solo I may get a group who outdamaged me but it rarely happened as I used to hunt in the out lying spawn areas (very little traffic). And my friend who introduced me to the game was aswords/doc/tank and thus my partner in crime for about 35% of the pearls I looted in my time.
I used to also run into Buku (Naritus server) a lot too as he was always seemed to be hunting with his guild or solo. I knew better to try to outdamage buku as his weapons (made by his weapsmith alt) were far superior to mine.
So I personally fail to see what the huge issue was about killing krayts pre-cu - you could do it cheaply with weapons and equipmentyou could buy from vendors/malls. And just get a couple of fiends to help with the damage if you were hindered by your template at the time.
And as has been touched upon there were many other ways people used to hunt them...... harvestors anyone? ![]()
FYI - I tuned around 400 pearls/crystals to get my two -9's 50 damage sabers pre-cu and the majority of them were premiums. And as for drop rates.... I used to average a pearl every 5 krayts. And on my best night wekilled 48 giants.
