Thread: CIVIL Discussion about a New FSCS system
Do we talking about keeping a Jedi Population low or about keeping a Jedi Population low, but i want make Jedi Slot or i quit?
Keeping a population low IS making the way harder than only mastering 5 Professions.
And just a couple more points from me...
I don't have the Dev-Quotes saved anywhere so I shall paraphrase several things they said in the run up to launch (watched the forums for the 4 months prelaunch) and since then:
1) The path to jedi might change if its decided that the current system is creating too many Jedi
2) Holocrons will always exist but they won't always tell you to master professions
3) It will take a casual player about a year to gain a FSCS
The first two are the important ones. Those of you who say that SOE told you to grind professions to get Jedi -they also told you that they might change the system. They dropt some pretty huge hints that they were going to change it in the run up to Christmas as well.
Personally until they brought Holocrons into the game I was going for Jedi - doing all the themeparks etc. Then they revealed what part of the current system was and I made the decision to wait until they changed it to continue - because they had been clear that it would change one day.
You have a month or two to finish grinding out professions. So get to it rather than moaning. You've got time if you are a long way along the path, if not make the decision to try and get it in the current system or prepare for the next system.
It was always known that the change was coming, waiting for the change was just as valid a strategy as commiting to the grind. And you know what, I've had a lot more fun not grinding and doing all the themeparks and quests ![]()

Ignorance is every hologrinder out there expecting the devs to focus on their needs when there are many other things wrong with this game.
Yet it seems the entire DEV team has been busy working for your needs to make it better for the few, while leaving many professions out in the cold without a fix in site (smuggler/chef/pikeman/ etc etc infinitum)
The above two posts contradict eachother. You state we are ignorant that the devs would focus on hologrinders, yet later, you state that that is in fact where their attention is focused according to the latest friday feature.
I did not post to be rude or ignorant, just because you don't like my viewpoint doesnt mean I am being ignorant....
I'm sorry you're still being ignorant. Except now you're being ignorant of being ignorant, I'm losing hope ...
If you dont like the change remember the side of the box, and the instruction Holocron, they both say GAME EXPERIENCE MAY CHANGE WHILE PLAYING!
WELL DUHHH !!! Do you think we all pay for every MMO out there in hopes that it will be the ultimate STATIC experience ??? The very nature of an MMO is about change both in structure/balance and bandwidth/graphical aspects.
Again you miss the point, you don't sell people a product from which they determine how to achieve specific goals and then pull the rug out from under them when the system has been in place for a 7month period. Not recognizing many of the hologrinders efforts is an extreme ignorance to their status as paying customers.
Here here ... ok I admit Ignorance may have not been the most correct term to describe your unproductive reply to this thread.
Actually your more Apathetic and Hypocritical with your latest post.

Well not anymore! I can get alot of *edit* edit edit words in here now because that is how i feel atm.
Been typing alot off things in all different forums about the new release and i am not gonna stop after this.
It is realy a good idea to change the system but that is gonna be to all newbies not to us that have been grinding master after master. Some sort of reward.. pahhh bull**edit** i say.. we will not get so much reward like they want us to belive and we should not get it either. If they reward all us out there with alot of master after silent then we gonna get overruned bye jedis.
And to all newbies! Let them do a quest system to unlock the fc slot but it is not gonna be easier like we have now.. the quest is good because in that wayit feels morerealistic way to get FC slot .. like now there is no logic at all.. grind master after master , be chef, TKM, Tailor.. what the **** has that to do with Jedi ? Nothing and that is so far from star wars you can get.
And the new permadeath! Stupid i say! They are doing to much and to easy for Jedis! JediShouldbe hard to get and when you at last get it then you gonna have a hell to try get skills and get higher lv.. and when at last you get Master Jedi then let them have there fun.. they are realy worth it.. no permadeath or penalty skill for them.. They should go around and rule the galaxie and do what ever they want. A Master Jedi is a MASTER and is gonna stay that way.. FFS

I believe the new system should require the equivalent effort of doing 20+ professions - including the EXPENSE. I think that ANYONE that has mastered more than, say 22, should get their slot. They would be more deserving than the MAJORITY of current jedi.
Now for the new system. THere is nothing wrong with mastering professions - selected, pointed professions. THe problem comes in when you have to grind them - and then grind throught the rest of them looking for a mystery prof. Holo'sthat tell professions can stay - but with an added twist - YOU ACTUALLY HAVE to make somethign and give it to your "guide" - something that requires mastery in a uiven professions. Or use that item in furtherance of the quest.Orfight a monster, AFTER you become a master tka and get a loot drop from it - and all of these quest mission should be individual spawns - like the Garm Bel Ibis missions - that CAN NOT BE CAMPED. Mastering professions gave me a greater understanding of the game - and I liked many of them - BUT did not like grinding ANY of them. And teh grind seemed so pointless - but if I had to ACTUALLY make myself some uber armor and wear it during part of a quest - or master doc - AND HEAL my jedi trainer of some strange disease, requiring rare flora, etc. THe possibilities here are endless - and could be varied greatly among individuals.
Also - I would love to see the opportunity taken here to add content for existing jedi.EVERY jedi inStar Wars was FOUND by another jedi and trained. I would LOVE to be able to role play andhave students - or force senstives seek me out.It is kind of done now with normal classes and their skill advancement - but it is optional. If Sony could pull this off and make it fun - it would be great. ANd give jedi something to do, other than kill thousands of creatures.
My suggestions are just elements...but many of the pieces are there - you should have to explore to find a trainer. I would actually suggest using LIVE, SONY employees to role play jedi, or some type of quest guide as trainers - to make the experience as interactive as possible. And fun. THne you should have to master professions -and ACTUALLY produce something or fight something or find something with the skills you have mastered. Then continue on the path.
I wanted to put my 2 cents worth into this discussion. First, I notice the wording of the Dev's message was rather ambiguous, and that scares me mightily. However, taken from the perspective that they mean they are changing not only the Jedi class, but the path to unlocking the FSCS, I am rather perturbed.
I am still trying to grind my first holo profession. (Master Doctor) Now, had I actually done the grind thing (had someone tumble for me or whatever to get my med exps), I would be done by now and onto my second. I prefered to take it kind of slow and not get burned out . What bothers me about this, is that I have actually been doing the Jedi grind for months, just not for my character. We decided when the holocrons came out that it would be best to let our husband try to open his slot first. He ground all 4 of his holo professions and is now on his third post holo prof. We stood by him the whole time, providing support and encouragement. When his holo said master entertainer, we all mastered entertainer. When his holo said master Dancer, Eve mastered dancer and I mastered musician. It was hard and yes, we did it of our own free will, but according to some of you, our efforts do not deserve to be recognized. I disagree with this. I feel that if they change the method to unlocking the slot, we should still be able to unlock by finishing our profession grind, as much as that sucks.
I have seen many mentions of the EQ epic quest here, some say they want the Jedi slot to open like that, but most say no. The EQ epic quest is what made us quit that game. For those who never played EQ, I will try to explain our experience, starting from when it all went bad.
There is a class in EQ called Enchanter. Eve played this class, and loved her toon very much. We went all over the world, talking to NPCs and killing MoB's to advance her in this quest. We came to a point where we had only 2 MoB's left to kill before she finished the quest. Keep in mind, we were 2-3 months into the quest. One of the MoB's we had to kill was a rare spawn named Verina Tomb. She was VERY contested, many many enchanters needed the piece she dropped to get thier epic. She was on a random 2 day spawn timer, so we decided to sit at her spawn point constantly until she spawned. The problem arose when the server kept crashing. We sat in that dungeon for SIX days and 12 hours, before she spawned. And I am talking NONSTOP for 6 days, there was ALWAYS someone sitting there, 24/7. Verina finally spawned! We were so happy! We got all 3 of our characters logged in, and one of our friends who just happened to be nearby came to help too. We engaged, when lo and behold, here comes 4 other characters to try and steal the kill. If our wizard friend hadn't been there, there is a good chance this person would have gotten the kill and we would have had to start all over, but we got lucky, and our enchanter looted the piece. The string of profanities and promises of retribution from the other enchanter really put a damper on our happiness, though. It's hard to be happy you got something cool if you know that you have made a lifelong enemy from it.
Even after all that, our beloved Eve's enchanter never did get her epic, as the last MoB on her quest she had to kill was on a rarer timer of 12 hours in a zone we could not just sit in, that despawned when another mob in that zone spawned. (For those that played EQ, it was Plane of Fear, and everyone who played EQ knows the whole zone can despawn when Cazic Thule spawns.) It was a mess. She was depressed for days, weeks even, until she said "Screw it, I don't even want to play this game anymore" and we bought SWG.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not make this anything like the epic quest in EQ!!!
The second phase will be to rebuild the Jedi system to be quest-oriented; and toinclude the familiar elements of Force Sensitivity, Jedi-oriented quests, as well as many other elements the developers and the community feel should make up the process of becoming a Jedi.

I'm still wondering where everyone got this information that the unlocking system is going to change. I saw NOTHING in the new anouncement that mentioned anything about a change to this system... Can someone please enlighten me???
