I think the best thing would be to actual have interaction with the NPC's that give out the quests. I mean... I want to have the trainer ask me a bunch of questions and have me choose what to answer, and by my answers, the quest that I am sent on changes. And also... make it so it's not just a stupid "Go kill this guy / Bring this NPC back to me" quest. When doing quests... I want it to feel like I'm playing KOTOR, only a MMORPG kotor.

I think this system is a desperate attempt to keep the accounts of those that refuse to start holo grinding and a slap in the face of all those that have already been holo grinding. The life day holos started about 75% of my server on the jedi path... as soon as they realize they don't want to do this jedi thing about 25% of them give up and are very near just quiting because of it. Seems like SOE is jumping for anything to balance what they did with this holo give away. However, for us that started holo grinding since they appeared on the server... this is a kick in the nuts. All that hard work could be thrown out the window if the devs decide they are to lazy to implement some way of putting us grinders on the appropriate level of this quest to getting jedi. I personally will petition for the current system to be an option alongside this new system. I also believe that this new system should be insanely difficult to complete due to the fact that once one person does it... everyone will have a clear cut way to do it... no searching for the secret profession. It should be equivlient to say and EQ epic quest... something that will take hundreds of hours like the holo grinding did.

Why not make a simple lil change, you do your holocrons as b4, but when ur last one goes silent then u go on a quest to either, narrow it down to one base proffession, ie it'll say medic, so your silent holo prof would beMaster Doc, Master Medic, or Combat Medic, (you're trying to become a freakin jedi, its not sposed to be easy) or after u finish the quest THEN it tells you your final profession to master.

@ArjunThakur

I really want the devs to keep the holo-grind system.

Either let it in for 2-3 months, or let all people who are on their silent holo finish it trough holo grinding, all others wont lose much and can start on the quest thingie.

Please, that really would make everyone lucky I suggest.

The new system will be cool... but you know what? they probably won't even tell us what it is. I can just see the patch notes message now "new fscs method implemented" and not another word about it. Then we get to spend another 3 months figuring out what the hell it is, and only then will it be possible for people to complete it.

Honestly,

I know that the current jedi want the system changed so that THEY can remain feeling special and rare. The fact of the matter is that they were in our shoes at one point as well. They wanted their FSCS. I know I, along with many others on this forum do as well and we've been holo-grinding to gain that fscs for months. I don't care if no one told us to do it, we figured that that was the way to get it done because so many more were unlocking by mastering professions.

Again, I'm working on my 9-11th professions all at once, but I'm past that holocron and am trying to cut down the number of possibilities that my hidden profession may be. There MUST be a way with this new system to allow the oldschool holo-grinders to just keep on doing that.. grinding, if that's the way they liked it and let us do that until we do get our slot.

With the jedi system, the entire profession by itself is hard to ever achieve master status, and I don't really know of ANY Jedi knights on my server at the moment. Jedi are rare enough just by the jedi system. There is no need to limit the number of initiates. What I'm saying is that the Jedi system will keep the actual number of people who reach Jedi status down.

It just wouldn't be worth it to the majority of players who are holo-grinding to continue and becomeForce sensitiveif there is a new system put into play, without the option for them to just continue and do the holo grind. Most of us who are hologrinding, like myself, have been playing since at least August of 2003 in hopes of someday becoming a Jedi. Now, we're close, working on finding that 5th and silent profession and to have that feeling of being so close stripped away will most likely result in many cancelled accounts. I'm almost positive I'd cancell both of my accounts along with many friends who play the game and most of , if not all of my current PA.

There just has to be either an option for oldschool players to continue grinding, because that's what we like to do best, or integrate it so that the oldschool players can do the grinding and if they wish, still go after the FSCS with the new quest system. This way, we know we're still close and probably ahead of the game.

Current Jedi shouldn't fear that tere will be more initiates as, initiates will eventually help you move closer to Master Jedi, by having people to teach and gain APP points from. I still believe that even with more Jedi Initiates, the actual JEDI population will remain a small and rare one.

Let the Holocrons stay in the Game. Make Quests also a requirement, an additional requirement, for opening your FS Slot.

1. All the Holo Grinding was not useless the last 3 months

2. Quests will fill this with more content.

3. It will be harder to get the Slot, so the population can be hold down.

-> You need the 5 Profession like now. In Addition you need to make the Force Sensitive Quest. So you dont know, if you need the silent profession or one more Sensitive Quest for opening you Slot. It would be more mystic in this way. You have to be not safe in thinking: with this way, i can open my slot - after 1 more quest or one more profession.

This is my opinion:

If you used 1 Holocron or more and is working on or have finished the profession that the holo gave you, you should be able to use the old way to open your FSCS.

If you havent, you will use the new way.

And yes, this SUCKS, since nobody will know what the "new way" of opening your FSCS will be. It's now even sure we can figure it out. The devs will make it harder to open your FSCS so this is against us.

I'm grinding on my 14 profession, if the devs change the way so my effort will become useless or if they change it so i'm on the new system qlueless on how it worksi will QUIT this game.

Yes i said QUIT. And i mean it!

this is probably a very impopular opinion, but ... I wouldn't be at all miffed if everyone lost their Jedi slot and everyone had to start over from scratch to open their FSCS.

"(It should also be noted that players who have put in work towards becoming a Jedi will not lose their effort. Some sort of recognition of players' efforts will be included in the new system.)"

that sounds very much like every Jedi will get a badge that says 'has been noted as being an excellent grinder' .. I for one wouldn't want a badge like that.
perhaps special clothing? weapons? ...
well, aside from the 'will not lose their effort', that is... I wonder what he means by that.

It doent matter if its not happening for a while whats that got to do with it ?

The fact is its happening.

People have spent time grinding to achieve Jedi. How else where we to do it ?

Now its changing.

Devs know why we play this game and at the moment they just left it all open.

How about some advice or follow up from such a generic post ?

This is probably the most important response I will ever ask for. !!

Iwould like to know if:

1) My time has been wasted grinding to date.?

2) How long before changes in are ? If I have 4 weeks before changes come in do I still grind in the hope I will unlock before then.?

3) OR do I wait if its 2 weeks ? Or if its 3 months ?

4) DO I keep my current combat class to save for quest progression as Jedi ?or keep grinding and loose my combat professions ?

Im begging for an answer please.

Here's my question.

What's to say that the new system, whatever it is, once it becomes as well known as profession guessing(grinding) won't be changed again?

I think the system needs to be fair and not so disruptive to the online community as this has been. Perhaps this should be a primary consideration before any changes are made.

I'm thinking that nothing bars them from "s-c-r-e-w-i-n-g" over more people later on.

The biggest problem with changing the system now, no matter how far people are along it is that the new system will be an unknown and therefore will take that much longer to figure out. AND THAT IS NOT FAIR. Plain and simple it's just not fair to make a new system and have it remain secret.

I hope that point is drilled into the dev's minds over and over again. People who have spent months mastering 15 professions and are still unsuccessful will not know how to proceed in the new system and therefore no matter how much "effort" is accounted for it will ultimately do nothing but deprive them of their hard spent time.

And I hope everyone agrees with me on this.

The new system CANNOT REMAIN SECRET AND MAINTAIN FAIRNESS TO ALL PLAYERS

Ohh and before you guys go nuts flaming me, I already have the Jedi slot so this in no way affects me directly. It does however affect the game to a very large extent.

I am just glad I opened my force slot. You poor bastards that went chasing your holos and did not get yours, thank SOE.

Be happy with the fact Jedi is still majory Borked and nothing works...... perhaps when you do get yoru force slot Jedi will be fixed. But knowing SOE I would not count on it.
