I don't think we should change it as the origanl poster suggested, but make them retunable by others, with a new random quality induced.

Or just make pearl drops 100% random, but good or better drop 20% less per quality lvl.

yes this would be nice ... make Ancient Krayts only killable by a group of Jedi's and make the loot they drop only for Jedi. I have always thought it odd that a Jedi has to resort to making a ranged profession character rich in order to get the loot he needs for his own profession. Now we have BH's getting exclusive missions that drop high end loot (even Jedi CA's) to sell to Jedi's that they hunt .. lol ... its a viscious circle.

krayt dragon pearls only hold value to a jedi.....the reason people hunt for them is either for their own jedi or for their own profit. would be rather selfish to say that only jedi can kill or loot these things. asking for more content is one thing....asking for another professions content to be removed and your prof only get theirs is rather childish.

If it was up to me i would forget the re-tune option completely, i would like to see a complete revamp of the LS crafting, whereLS resourcesaccounts for 80% of the damage. A saber can be used with just a coloured crystal, however each generation saber uses the current system of adding damage crystals to enhance it further.

Firstly remove the LS Experimentaion/Assembly mods from the LS Tech tree. Create a seperate tree which doesnt use any skill points, but progression is based on xp accumulated. For every 1 million xpaccumulated you would be awarded +5 experimentation/assembly mods. This would cap at 20 million XP at which point you would have +100 exp/ass (10 experimentation points). Also MLS are still given a bonus of +20 on these mods.

Secondly, pearls are removed from the game. All crystals are equal ie no quality rating and are still dropped from npc's. However damage crystals aretuned in the crafting process to enhance the saber and as such are integral to the saber thus these would not be removeable. However the drop rate of crystals would have to be sufficient so that prices for crystals are not extortionate. I would keep the crafted saber at the same force cost as it is currently but have crystals set ata minimum of -2 forcecost, upto a maximum of -9. Again this would not be seen until the saber had been crafted.

Thirdly, lightsabers and crystals do not decay from use, however a jedi may only have 1 lightsaber at any time so they would have to make a decision as to whether their current saber would be worth destroying in favour of creating a new one.

So for example if a perfect saber (including crystals) had a max damage of 800, a saber without would have a max damage of 640, so therefore each crystal would contribute a max damage of 40. This would allow sufficient variations so that not everyone would be carrying the perfect LS.

Suggestion for Pearl/Crystal Fix.

I recieved a PM today from a community member asking me to address his suggestion. His suggestion was this.

"With the current situation of pearl drops as they are, which is very unbalancing for the game, and the devs seems to have problems fixing it, would it not be an idea to suggest to them to remove the "jedi specific requirement" on already tuned pearls and crystals. As we all know older most older jedi have a stock of tuned pearls they dont use because they have slighty better ones in their saber ADK'ed. this will create a new market and allow older jedi to give to new jedi in their guild, or sell them if they wish."

With that said. I am also aware that this has been dicussed in the past. What I told him was maybe a re-tune option instead of just taking away names (BioLink) from current tunes. I know there are some of us older Jedi that have plenty of extras (in some cases bags of 50) but would it be fair to allow us to sell them for Millions of credits?

/Discuss

Edit:

I guess what I am wondering is would people be ok with this if proposed to the Devs? A re-tune option.

If anything it would drop the 50 mill for a Prem option as it is now and THIS WAS DONE BEFORE... in the patch 9 change.

I think a complete vamp on them would be faster then the loot issue, a retune option (say one time) would be key here and let alot of us as you just said give up the bag of 50 pearls .

So what if anyone makes money on them, when the price is 50 mill for prem I cant see how this could be anyworse considering the market with tapes and pearls now.

I have about 66 that are nothing but part of my inventory

I have 4 guildys that could use some of them and yet I cant do a thing.

Please push this as a temp fix or somthing which ever is easier

I'm for putting saber stats into the actual crafting of them. Make the crystal packs mean something as well as the construction of the saber itself. As so to not screw over those that have invested millions into Pearls/Crystals make then convertable into crystal packs.

Lets face it, the heart of a Lightsaber is in the Crystal, and how its fitted...

Well this seems likea nice idea to me, but instead of making it where you can untune and give to anyone. It should be once new FRS comes out you can have a apprentice that is allowed to retune your crystals/pearls.

Once you ignite the saber, all crystal/pearls inside melts with the lightsaber itself. They can't be removed nor changed.
The melted crystals/pearls fill the lightsaber so you can add up to four crystals/pearls and the melted liquid must be colored.

That would be cool! Pre-9 thing.

Let's take a look at this closely.

Allow Jedi to trade their "bio-linked" crystals/pearls,

GOOD NEWS: A Jedi knows what they are getting up front. If they're not getting them for free (obviously there will be many sold), at least you know what you're getting at it will also give Jedi who may not be able to affordthe -9/120 pearl a chance at a -7/100 or similar. Why spend 20 million on an untuned premium pearl that may tune to -1/20 when you could spend 20 million on a pearl that has a good tune already? I think this might help lower the price on untuned pearls, premium or otherwise.

BAD NEWS: Prices for finely tuned items may climb higher than they are now, making tuned -9/120 or similar pearls unobtainable for many Jedi.

Allow Jedi to trade their "bio-linked" crystals/pearls to be "retuned" by another Jedi.

GOOD NEWS: It puts an influx of crystals/pearls back on the market like the previous solution. However a Jedi once again is at the mercy of the randomness of tunes. Many older Jedi with flawless and/or premium crystals/pearls can get rid of their older collection of bad tunes and make a fortune, whereas in the previous solution they would still be garbage.

BAD NEWS: There would be more crystals/pearls back on the market. How is this bad? As stated previously, all "junk" tunes from premium or flawless crystals/pearls will hit the trade boards, and the Jedi community will still be at the mercy of a flawed tuning system while the older Jedi get richer than they might in the previous solution.

Change the lightsaber completely, removing the need for FOUR excellent crystals/pearls.

QUICKIE: This would work like weapon crafting does now. You craft your lightsaber, and that's it. You can swap out a color crystal at will that applies elemental damage like it does now. That is the only thing that is swappable. You can even go so far as having enhancing "slots" during the crafting process for optional components you can get from other professions (see MsNil's post here). This will allow other professions to slightly profit at the expense of Jedi instead of various people greatly profiting now, and making only the super rich have a shot at great lightsabers.

Basically you would make every crystal a color crystal, and every pearl give off a different color as well (think pre publish 9). The only real difference between the two is the pearl would give you a 20% elemental damage bonus as opposed to a 25% bonus for crystals. As far as the components for a lightsaber go, they could also drop from various NPCs, 99.9999999% of the time never exceeding a crafted version of the same component.

GOOD NEWS: Eliminates the requirement of crystals/pearls for a damage boost in lightsabers. Narrows the gap completely in terms of lightsaber damage, speed, and force cost. Doesn't give one person a huge advantage over another when wielding the same weapon, which is what the CU was supposed to be all about. Reduces the cost of being a Jedi.

BAD NEWS: All the credits spent on crystals/pearls up to this point would be for nothing in a sense, and would make many people mad. Some would also argue that having everyone with basically the same damage output would also be bad.

If I had to vote, I'd vote for #1 or #3 (preferably #3, and this is coming from a pre CU Jedi Knight with almost a perfect pre CU lightsaber). Honestly, any change to the lightsaber system at this point isn't going to please everyone, and some people are definitely going to profit big from it. And fixing the pearl drops won't make things better in my opinion either. Could you imagine the huge influx of Jedi we've had lately, with their friends and guildmates, camping the Krayt Graveyard day and night? I foresee how it was way back when, when there was tons and tons of kill stealing and people cursing at eachother back and forth. That is not fun gameplay, and causes hostility we don't need in this game.

I destroyed hundreds of old pearls. This would suck if they did it. I vote no!

Funny I suggested such a system a few days ago and some people didn't like it, or thought it was too much work for devs.

Although I thought the penalty for retuning should be condition degradation, and never thought about the possiblity of actual quality being lowered a notch. This does make more sense.

* Jedi Should Have to Untune the crystal before trading it

*New Jedi has chance to tune it (Penalties for Retuning Subject to debate)

*Original Jedi disqualified from retuning their own pearls for personal gain

*Quality continues to degrade on further retunes until it goes *poof*
