This temp just became an extremely viable alternative, I have been following this with great interest and would not be surprised if this becomes a very popular template for those, like myself that can live without a sabre.

I never considered this before, so a belated 5* for SWGhottie

Those who used the token respec to get MDef will probably be kicking themselves now, glad I waited.

Ok, now that I finally got my edit button, I made quite a few updates to this template guide and also included publish 19 data.

I do need some hard testing data from publish 19 though since I cannot test on TC or TC-Ahazi myself (when we get it).

Enjoy!

VERY HIGHLY doubt this'll be FOTM, but the group you hang with in PVP will really like you once you practice using all the skills from both disciplines. Those that respec to it thinking it'll be an uber FOTM will be quite disapointed, I already saw quite a few threads about "omg choke bypasses armor, nerf it!" and "new hit and run tactic?" considering cloak & choke- that ain't going to happen Joe.

Powers/Enhancer combined is loads of fun, I give you that, but you aren't going to survive long unless you intend to stasis and FR3 away everytime you see an overt coming for you if you're alone. MLS compliments Powers quite well, the damage output from each other helps.

All in all, this'll simply make you a well-rounded group support guy, now all that's really needed to be done is to get force intimidate to work more effectively than it does now.

i've been looking at the master powers side of thing but can't really for the life of me figure out the big advantage of full powers over partial. The temps i'm looking at mainly are master rifleman/menhancer, powers 0400 (for cloak) or this sort of temp, MP/ME/Healer-4-something. What i'm wanting to know is what would be the big reason to go to master powers? from what i've looked at ME seems to be the cooler of the two, with the self-rez ability, the force drain, meditate and channel. I know i can just imagine the shock on someone's face when i all of the sudden get up after being killed, cloak, run off and meditate for awhile while i heal up and such.

so my question is this: what would be the big motivation to pick up master powers in place of my rifle (or carbines might be an option, who knows)? i can only think of too-cool situations where i cloak, drop to the ground, let off a sniper shot and cloak again before anyone gets to me.

Thanks

You lose xp from using the MEnh ability (50k apparently).

If all you want is cloak then that does stand alone. If you want lightning, then the accuracy boosts at master help a lot, though if you keep rilfe the general ranged bonuses do stack. ATM the other abilities are only partly usable. In group play MPow is great, I think every group can benefit from a MPow/MEnh template. Pub 19 will decide it for me though - MPow or MLS.

I suppose that if you keep rifle then you will want heal 3000, powers 0400- it would work.

To the original question asked here: you need master powers to get accuracy bonus and to get better damage, otherwise lightning will be disappointing.

Also, choke is turning out to be awesome in publish 19 as it bypasses everything. I'm so glad i kept my faith in powers.

I would love to use that template in group combat. thats where the fun is at IMO. its great to watch an opposing force collapse because you threw in your two cents when they weren't watching you. To bad I'm an in your face kind of player when it comes to PvP. Love being in the middle of the chaos However I do love using tactics to mess up the other guy.

The first thing I do in any combat situation is hit force run and tap every mob with an armor break to soften them up for the ranged guys. Then join in with some saber specials while whatching how every one esle is doing. if things start getting ugly I start targeting players and hitting them with heals, and rooting/snaring the enamy to give them the chance to secape. Since I'm a M defender sabers 0442, enhancer 4003, healer 4000 I really dont have much to offer in the DPS markets. I'm devastating in group combat because I take forever to die, focus on setting up the enamy for the fall through state effects and roots, and have force run2 for rapid response healing of team mates.

Try it some time, shadow a ranged fighter and keep him healed with force infusion and force heal. Watch as he tears through every single fighter with the huge DPS back by jedi healing.

Same here. I was so enticed by the post I left MLS MD and am trying this one. Still have token. I still need to grind rejuvination 4 box as I didn't have enough respec points to get there, but I see this as a minor gimp. Won't take long to grind. Played with it last night an was amazed that the horror stories of FA were a little exagerated. I didn't die once. I have to say that I enjoy the variety of thing I can now do more than the feeling of being uber. As a MLS MD I felt safe but not any sense of accomplishment as everyone out there is that temp or a variation on it. Now I have a slightly larger Force pool to boot. More fun than just swinging a saber at things. BTW, I still have my sdaber and do 4-700 damge with it using just saber hit. I would say that for people to make the most of this temp, they need to grind out MLS first and make the best sabers possible with assembly and experiment bonuses. Then get best crystals and pearls and slap an ADK on it. Then you can use your saber with saberhit for those close in encounters as an auto attack. Funny is my MDPS is about the same as it was when I was LS 0404, maybe 20 points lower. Also, there are plenty of +15 and +25 skill tapes for saber speed and accuracy to make up for it and force speed 2 lso helps a lot with saber. Yeah, I wil probably lose to a MLS/Defender most of the time, but there will always be somebody better than you. Besides, I spent the night learning how to use root and kite things and use the channel button every so often. Its not a better or worse temp, just different. Anyways, we'll see how it goes.

extremely nice thread with awsome info!

its funny because i was reading the guide and i thought to myself "This sounds just like Dhraax's template when I heard him talking about it over Teamspeak the other night." ....and i scrolled down to your sig, and i saw that it WAS you lol

anywho, im more of a tanking/uber-damage-dealer kind of player so im either sticking with the mdef, mls, 2000 heal, 0003 enhancer or the 0404 ls, mdef, 4020 healer, 3004 enhancer (cant decide on which). but im saving my last respec, (even thought i hear we're getting another one with the release of the FRS) so ill probably end up respecing to mpowers eventually

lol Big, that's funny! I'm glad to see my in-game conversation and style is reflected in this post, since that was the purpose. I'm glad you liked it.
As for templates you can stick to yours for now, if everyone in the guild goes for mine, we won't be very efficient. We can't all be support templates, but you can count on me to soften opposing forces for you every time we PvP together.

Updated again based on latest research data from TC-Prime testers. Thanks to Baciacca, MsNil and all the other testers.

Let me know if something is still inaccurate or missing from this guide.

Enjoy!

Thank you. Glad you liked it.

It's depressing how the flame threads just stay alive and great threads with template guides and valuable info get buried fast... oh well, at least it helped some people...

Unless there's been a change I missed .....

Based on the latest results, force armor costs 150 to apply and acts like 7000 armor. It absorbs about 53.3% of the damage, and about 12.4% of the damage is actually force cost. Still high but much better than it was in post-CU, pre-pub 19.

FA2 gives +4000 armour? Adding to the 2000 for Initiate = 6000 total.

If this has changed..I apologise.

Ok, you are right. I based this on info from the force armor thread and the tester in there had an extra +10 innate armor due to defender. Improved Force Armor boosts innate armor by +40 (or 4000 armor) which would give a non-defender a total of 6000. I'll correct the original post.
