Odd that you're glossing over the second part of that statement.
Nowhere else in this game is there forced PvP.
The Tef system was removed because of forced PvP but still Jedi are forced to PvP when another player chooses (BH is making the choice to PvP not the jedi)
At no point on the path to becomming a Jedi is there something that says "by continuing you are accepting that you will engage in PvP at anothers choice" or words to that effect.
The questions to be asking at this point in my mind are
1, why, when tef's and forced PvP was removed from all other aspects of the game does it still apply to jedi ?
2, why is it not possible to have NPC BH attack jedi that do not want PvP ?(similar thing happens with the Sith attacks and the old man visits)
3, Why should any person be forced to participate in PvP regardless of profession ?

the overall aim of what I'm trying to say is that the system is already in place to have a semi random attack on you as a player by NPC's so why not use that and do this.Have an option where a jedi can agree to have Player BH come after them (tick box in the character window) when if not applied NPC BH will spawn when a players visibility reaches a certain point using the semi random timer currently used in the village parts of the code.To prevent other players assisting the Jedi against any NPC BH use the same mechanism that BH missions use to lock out other people from attacking the BH mark slightly modified to stop healing as well. With something like this in effect all sides will be happy with BH and Jedi able to consent to PvP and those jedi who do not want PvP get PvE encounters instead./waitstogetflamed
Lets answer another question. When you received the email or popup window, been a while can't remember how they alerted you to the fact that YOU ARE NOW PVP ENABLED, you didn't back out of the offer then? If you hit 'yes' then you have no valid complaint whatsoever. If you do not like the way it is, then you have no one else to blame but yourself, you are not forced to play.

except nothing like that happens. unless you go to the forums here, you would have no idea that jedi are hunted. bzzt, next.

Nah there needs to be some discouragement to stop everyone wanting to be a Jedi, and forced pvp discourages a lot of people. All Jedi know they will have to pvp - it's in the job description.
The direct opposite is true. Forced pvp and a pvp rewarding system is what encouraged most of the current Jedi to become one.
Disable pvp 100% from Jedi, and you will see them drop like flies.
hmm jedi pvp disabled = over half of all accounts being cancelled...sounds like a smart move
I think what people are asking for is a choice, just like everybody else in the game!
You have a choice
1) You chose to do Jedi knoing there wsa a BH factor
2) As a Jedi you determine if you gain visibility. That is your choice also. I stayed off the terms through my grind until I was mostly templated (211 sp used) and at that point I conciously decided to use groups (at that time groupes caused vis). So don't tell me it cannot be done

The TEF system was not removed for that reason. It was removed because it was buggy and the GTEF issues. The BH selects missions, thats all. You determine if you get on the terminals. The choice starts with the Jedi

Read the forums stickies, etc and I believe its in the jedi archives that s on the site. ALL professions are only really described in their respective forum

THe old TEF system was not forced PVP, You chose whether you got a TEF by attacking a factional target
2, why is it not possible to have NPC BH attack jedi that do not want PvP ?(similar thing happens with the Sith attacks and the old man visits)
It is probably possible but I dount they would wnat to do that
3, Why should any person be forced to participate in PvP regardless of profession ?
Because they needed a method to force the Jedi to not be visible and encourage them to keep a low profile. This kind of works now at least when you are grinding. They however gave the Jedi the choice of getting on the terms or not

Sorry that is BS. I have a Jedi closing in on two years old and another Jedi I got after the CU. What you're talking about is becoming a Jedi Knight. Which is no longer in the game. When you got about halfway through your trials you were given the choice of going Light or Dark which made you perma-overt. You also got an email (which I still have) when you unlocked your Jedi mentioning the 'life' your have chosen.New Jedi do not get either the email or the Jedi Knight pop-up box.In regards to another post mentioning Ultima Online's constant PvP system. Times change. If you research any studies on people who play MMO's, you'll notice that as the years have gone by, more and more people have started playing them (obviously...). Why? Not for PvP. It was to play in an online community with other people and/or with friends/family. PvP is at the bottom of the lists, not that many people care for it. That is what many of the PvP lovers don't seem to understand. Also, Jedi does not equal PvP. I don't understand where people come up with this either. Having Jedi means forced BH encounters if you choose to play game content with your Jedi. If Jedi equaled PvP, you'd be forced perma-overt as soon as you unlocked, however that is not the case. Instead you're forced into an encounter with another player who has a reward for killing you yet you have no reward for killing the player. That is unbalancing in itself. And as for another post regarding people going for Jedi because of PvP, that is absurd. I personally don't mind PvP, but I do not get Jedi because of PvP. I got Jedi because I'm a huge Star Wars fan, and for me Star Wars revolves around Jedi and the Force. PvP was not a factor in my decision. And I can also tell you that I asked 17 Jedi I know that question when I saw that post. You know how many said they got Jedi because of PvP? Zero. I'll be asking even more of them as soon as I see them online, but I think the trend will remain the same, which is against you.
You have zero idea what you are talking about. While I misstated by saying 'pvp enabled' 2 year player here, didn't unlock til after the CU, I got a one of the two, either a pop up or a email informing me, if I screwed up I would be hunted. Everyone gets this.
A very short reply: Play your own game. Dont try to lecture people who do not like what you like.

Everyone who didn't know that you could be hunted by a BH when you became a Jedi please raise your hand.
Thats what i thought.
Honestly if you don't like it feel free to play your alt.Jedi is far to easy.I find myself craving the old system where you actually had to be careful when playing your Jedi. Some of the current Jedi are just pathetic and sad in their whining for more nerfs by removing BH and forced PvP.
You want to be an alpha class so badly but want no downside. Give me give me give me.
I was never into PvP but when i made the DECISION to become a Jedi I went out and learned how.I found a very good PvPer and he taught me as he had been taught. Is it fun when someone comes along and ruins your PvE fun?Of course not but its part of the COST of being a Jedi, period!Seriously the system is so insanely easy now its crazy and some of you still cry for more. Please stop destroying the profession with your whining.
Tired of the kiddies who trash talk?Learn to beat them.It honestly doesnt take that much time to learn how to hold your own against most players.Theres nothing more satisfying than smacking some uber l33t ttrash talking15 year oldaround, bowing out and puting him on /addignore.I'm fortunate that I have what apparently is a more mature server.
No one is forcing you to go Theed,go overt and be open to attacks from everyone.Learn to live in the shadows and cautiously. Its really pathetic how all of the Jedi I see act so haphazardly. After all of this time I'm still relatively unknown on my server which is how it should be.
When I was grinding I was near the squill cave and it was very early in the morning. On my map (which to this day is always on so i can see anyone approaching and prepare myself for a possible fight) I saw a player in obvious distress inside of the cave.I went in and he was dying quickly. He was there trying to start the Hero quest so I went in and killed the squills attacking him and led him safely through the cave. The whole time obviously gaining visibilty but it didn't matter because I was doing what i thought a Jedi would do.Saving someone who wasnt able to save themselves even thought they put themselves in a bad position.
Did I know I was going to pay for what I did eventually?Would i be "forced" to PvP?Yep! Didn't matter.I knew the risks and I knew it would delay my progress because of the BH visits that would be in my future.I didnt cry,I didnt moan I dealt with it under a system that was much more deadly than this current crap we have now.
If you don't want to learn to PvP then great.Die in place and then Continue Mission. Those are your choices.Fight,Flee or Die.
The whining I see here is right in line with the recent post from a Jedi (i use the term very lightly) who cried because he was killed while AFK.Its a pathetic trend.I went after a Jedi mark recently, walked up to him while he was grinding, gave him about 20 seconds(standing 10 meters from him)to show me he was even aware of me.When he didnt i opened up on him and incapped him and walked away.Thirty seconds I sent him a /tell advising him there were BH in the area."Oh are you one?" "ummm yes I'm the one that just incapped you" "oh you are like the third one to come along in the last hour" (no one had DB'ed him apparently)At that point I should have went back and DBed him but I just shook my head in disgust. In the old system Jedi were treated like a treasure that you didnt want to lose and you did everythin gto protect. Now thanks to the dumbing down and the nerfs its turned into a joke.
Then theres the story about the padawan who showed up at my vendor looking for crystals because he wanted a saber like his friends and figured he "needed 10-20 crystals to get a saber like my buddies. His has 4 120 -9 pearls in it" I nearly fell off of my chair laughing and then I was kind of angry because I realized that the some of the newer Jedi had a clue what it took to make a saber like that or what it was like in the old system where I would NEVER have went vendor seaching with my Jedi.
If you dont want to PvP developeyour template so that you have a choice if you dont want to fight. That way you choose the time and place.
