Thread: Would you have bought or would you still play SWG if there were no jedi? (Updated due to NGE)
NO
Star Wars is not Star Wars with out Jedi, period.
The entire history of the Star Wars saga is the conflict of the Jedi vs. the Sith.
No Jedi is kinda like trying to play football with out a ball.

Pre-Cu yes, Post-Cu hell no.
True, I have over 2 years invested in this game and started playing before jedi where ever known about, When people thought that the CSR's would give you a jedi for being a "good player" like they used to givebadges for a great Bio.
In light of the way things are developing (sic), this is an interesting question.
For myself I was on the boards during beta and I pre-ordered. At that time the Dev's and Q-3PO were almost silent on the subject of Jedi and seemed very careful NOT to use Jedi as a marketting tool. It was aparent from the start that Jedi would be uber powerful and uber-rare. I recall Holocron (Raph Koster, the creative director and "mother" of SWG) saying that if a player eversaw evenone player-Jedi during their time in SWG they would be lucky.
So I can honestly say that at the time I installed SWG I was fully aware that I would never become a Jedi. The thought never enetered my mind. In fact, I became a Fencer and then a Bounty Hunter.
So, in short, I acutally did buy SWG thinking there were no Jedi.
Ibought this game the day it was released with the idea of being a bounty hunter working for a hutt faction. at the time, honestly, i had kotor, etc for playing jedi. what was appealing to me, and the reason i decided to buy the game, is that i was excited about taking part in the GCW set between episodes 4 and 5.the advertising at the time hit hard on this point as well as the point that Jedi would be far and few in between. for a brief little period of time, that's what it was too
i remember being about 8 months into the game, out in the middle of nowhere Tatooine when I came across the first player Jedi. I was awestruck. It was something special. I didn't see another for quite a long time, the gcw raged on, and it felt about as 'star warsy' as it could get.
the game has changed since then, drastically, and i've rolled along with it. i've been able to try a number of different professions and I've honestly had a lot of fun with swg, problems aside. but over the last year especially, seeing the focus of the expansions, the CU, and watching nearly all of my launch era friends quit, I believe the game is in a sink or swim era. If I were a new player today, knowing what I know looking at the box on the shelf...I think I'd save my money. I have attatchment to my character, and a lot of new friends that keep the game fresh for me, so I'll play for a while longer. I hope once Novermber hits and this next expansion is out they do some serious work on the game in general though, or it may be time to move on. For new players this game most likely seems huge, awesome and exciting. For the few of us left from launch I think the love affair is mostly over. /salute
NO!!!
Because then I wouldn't have anything fun to hunt. At least nothing in the least bit challenging.
I say "MORE JEDI, MORE JEDI!!!!" Give me more marks to hunt...yipeee!!!!
And I'm not being sarcastic...I started playing so I could player bounty hunt...(not player grief, so don't even start...)
