Why not base this in the same way. The more force you have = the most training you have receved = the more knowledge of the force you have= the better chance of you tuneing better pearls or crystals .

I am against it.

Why should a player who chose not to take 2 masteries have less success than a double master?

All this would do is hasten everyone right back into FOTM templates, which was contrary to the intent.

Lets paraphrase that for a moment... 'Why should a non-master have less sucess than a master?'

It's a rather silly question.

In the name of balance the game must allow the same final outcome, yes, however...

That is not at all in violation of the idea presented here.

One who took the 'shorter road' with 'less training' might indeed need more 'tries' to get the same results.

EvenIF dabblers had effectively lesser 'rolls' they could still get the same results even if it took more tries.

In a 'skill based roll' someone rolling, for example, 5D can still beat somone rolling 6D. This is similar.

If the outcome is capped (as in damage cap of 120) then the only difference is the likelihood of reaching it sooner.

Bothdabblers and double masteries would be able to attain the same final results.

(or it could be tied to skill points invested in jedi, as mentioned already, and it would balance completely)

Good idea, but it punishes Dabblers.

Suggestion: Make it based on SP's investedx time played as a Jedi.

I feel Pearls/Crystals shouldnt even have a fair/poor/quailty/premium/select/quality raiting on them... Base the Tune factor on how much force you have at the time of the tune.

If in regualr professions you are lvl 54 you need a lvl 54 qualifying gun to use.

A lightsaber is a jedi's life and most important tool. If he chooses to not be a MLS, no he should be gimped

It should not be based on things common to all Jedi (force pool) because not all Jedi need it, not all Jedi are saber users, not all Jedi are saber crafting masters.

But to make it more fair, put the tuning chance mod int he tech tree. 20 + 20 + 20 + 20 = 80. +20 at master. Would be just like experimentation. Only makes sense, you are more experienced with tuning pearls.

Regarding the FIRST POINT...

The ability to WIELD a saber is seperate from the ability to CRAFT one. This is both logical and already an existing game mechanic.

A Jedi with a powerful saber but without the ability to wield it properly is still at an appropriate, and logical, disadvantage to the saber wielder.

It might not 'ring truest' in your mind that all jedi equally invested in the force have an equal chance at tuning, but it still makes decent sense.

Regarding the SECOND POINT...

Tech tree would not work for the simple fact that 99% of all jedi would immediately begin by grinding to 0-0-2-4 sabers.

Why would they all do this you might ask...well...they could have area attacksand have 80% saber potential with only a 10% template. Which is representative of being a Saber Technician or having done the saber crafting tree.

The more this topic is explored, the more I think tying it to skill points in jedi might be the best overall balanced curve.

I still believe the force pool could work as a basis for the curve, butI understand that it's a bit harder to visualize how this could be balanced.

How about this? Let's drop this side bar discussion. I don't agree with you, you don't agree with me. We're obviously failing to communicate. So let's just stop, okay?

Really. No flames.

I apologize if it seemed that way, that wasn't my intent. Probably I just didn't take the time to think about what you were getting at. As the cliche goes: "We'll agree to disagree."
